Anybody interested in Overwatch, think I might give it a go...seems very Team Fortress 2 like.

I tried the free Overwatch open beta over the weekend. It is fun, I like the quick pick up and play short matches.
But it seems like it could get boring quickly. Perhaps mastering all of the different characters and getting on good strategic teams will open up the game a little more. As it stands, not a day one full price purchase for me, but perhaps after a couple of price drops assuming community is still active later on, I might pick up.

I also tried the Doom beta. Multiplayer sucks big time. Maybe the single player campaign will be better.

I wish I had a chance to try the Battleborn beta. That games looks interesting with the MOBA elements, though probably not the type of game I would like.

I was looking at Overwatch, but I've so many MP games that I haven't even played (Star Wars battlefront & PVZ GARDEN WARFARE 2 - being last one) that buying another online game would be futile exercise ...

Don't forget that Uncharted 4 has a multiplayer mode too.

Would like to play Uncharted 4, but I still have the 1-3 remaster in my backlog and too busy with Dark Souls 3 right now to pick up. Uncharted 4 has been very well reviewed, so can't wait to eventually play.

This sounds familiar :)

By the time I get around to finishing 2 and 3, I expect that 4 will be a bit cheaper so that helps!

Agreed. I hope that wasn't all to its multiplayer (or there are modding possibilities..). Felt clunky, loadouts suck big time, finishing moves are tacky (imo) and the demon distracting. I hope there will be a classic TDM mode, fast n furious like the original one.

But I'll get it anyway - singleplayer seems cool imo + the tacky flashing enemies and QTEs can be disabled for what I know. + Snapmap. Hope that one isn't inceredibly crippled due pampering the consoleros - I can see a whole lot of good stuff coming on pc for that one.

Possibly against my better judgement, I picked up Doom. I've only done the first mission so far and have already became frustrated with load times :(

It came with a couple of goodies:

I picked it up too because it was 45 euro in Zavvi compared to 69.99 in retail stores here. If it turns out to be a turkey I can trade it in and get most of the value back out.

Load times, you bought PS4 version I assume ? Hopefully XB1 loadtimes arent too bad. I picked XB1 version as it was €10 cheaper than Ps4.

Yea, loadtimes are imo the best thing (besides mouse/keyboard for a FPS) PCs have going for them. I have no problem with less than stellar graphics (steady framerate is another story though) but loading times are driving me crazy. And they don't even have to be excessive to annoy me big time.

That's a bonus with Nintendo games btw. - the load times are basically always short. If I recall that was one huge advantage of cartridges comp. to CDs back in the N64 days.

Yeah, PS4 version. The XB1 version is $550 more expensive for me... mainly because I'd have to, y'know, actually buy an XB1 :p

No kidding. I've tried mouse/keyboard with Doom and it doesn't even see them. You'd think that they'd test this sort of thing before release, but it seems that mouse and keyboard support is worse in the PS4 generation than it was with PS2!

I took the Plus freebie Table Top Racing for a spin today. I guess it's pretty cute and all, but After Trackmania it feels sooo slooooow and unexciting. Glad, I tried it, but that is not stayung on my hard drive.

Looking forward to trying Tropico 5 when I have a little more time to waste. Always been curious about, glad I didn't buy it. Finally a semi-big Plus game!

Hence the rumor that the NX will be using carts (why people think this is bad is beyond me - will make the unit DS compatible... ;) ).

On the subject, a.f.a. my new games, I'm tackling Starfox Zero first (I also got Battleborn and Rachet & Clank).

For Starfox Zero - is it just me or are the controls abysmal? You have to control flying AND control aiming separately (conventional fighter flying is fixed guns and you point the craft in the direction to shoot). I'm having trouble with this one.

I'm playing Starfox 3DS on my newly upgraded New 3DS XL I got yesterday - I love the 3D and that is a fantastic system...

Yes the controls are terrible. They seem determined to use the Wii u game pad screen at the expense of good experience. They should have stuck to just off tv usage for the gamepad screen and had really tight controls for the Wii U.

For what is essentially an arcade shooter, it's control scheme on Wii u is detrimental to the game. An arcade shooter is all about right, responsive, twitch controls.

It's a shame that we have waited so long for StarFox game and this is what they delivered? For a company which spends so long making new versions of its IP's you have to ask where was the quality control that passed such a hocum control scheme.

The 3DS Version which is still not a great StarFox game at least plays and controls better.

Sadly since StarFox 64 we haven't really had a decent StarFox game. The Bandai version that came out on the GC looked the part (and played ok) but it felt a bit generic and dated. Honestly the best StarFox game we have had in the last 15 years was StarFox adventures and that wasn't even a proper StarFox game.

I completely agree. I wonder what's going on with Starfox? I imagine a lot of it is Shigsy or another sentimental executive has a vision for the series and it's now what the rest of us want. Heh. I feel the same with F-Zero though, that Nintendo has these great IPs but they're mishandling them. Personally, all I want from a Starfox game is Lylat Wars 64-2, and F-Zero GX 2.

Yeah totally agree, the best F-Zero was the stunning Namco version.

Add Metroid to that. Geez, it's all there on a silver platter but they somehow screw it up. Almost like it's on purpose.

Imagine Nintendo buying the rights for Castlevania and e.g. Contra and go full force nostalgia (with wave race / 1080° and some other gems as well) + cranking out great new IPs like Splatoon too. Then some of the usual Cod / BF / Fifa / Madden stuff and their console would be god tier for almost everybody. But nope.
[doublepost=1463343292][/doublepost]Anyway. Paused my Dark Souls commitment and doin' a rip n' tear with the new DOOM. Just left Hell and came back to Mars. Don't think the campaign will last that much longer tbh, but it's a fantastic ride so far. So glad I just jumped into it with no remorse.

Starting Earthbound, have played Skyrim in the last week pretty much religiously, and am finishing Luigi's Mansion. Nostalgia ride at its best, but I'm waiting to pull the trigger on a new PC depending on how the 1070/1080 pan out.

Started Uncharted 4, about 2-3 hours in. Naughty Dog are master story tellers, and you can definitely feel the influence of the "The Last Of Us" directors on this one. Very impressed. I've always been a huge fan of the series, but Uncharted 3 did not flow very well IMO. This one seems much better so far!

Finding treasures in Uncharted 4 seems harder than in the previous installments! I loved the Auction mission, the part in Scotland is rather boring in comparison. Still enjoying the game a lot though.

Bloodborne:
Stuck at layer 2 boss (burning dog thing) of the Cursed/Defiled Chalice dungeon. Need to grind for blood vials before I try again.

Is anyone playing the Hitman episodes as they come out? Is it as good as they promised?

I am plodding my way through Uncharted 4 too. Some later sections the action pieces are amazingly well done.

I have dead island definitive collection downloading .... god knows when I'll play it.
I have Overwatch downloaded on my XB1 and haven't even booted it up !! :(

Has anyone else run into Doom crashes? Three times now it's booted me out to an error reporter (PS4).
Nope, its been stable for me.

I opted to replace my HD with an SSD and the load times have improved quite a bit

Although I had maybe ten crashes in the week or so after posting, it's been stable since. I didn't see any updates come down, but maybe I just missed one because it seems fine now.

Meanwhile, I think a 2 TB SSD is going to be cost prohibitive :p

PC version was bad for some time so I stopped playing beacuse it would always go down in the Lazarus Labs - but that's fix'd now and it's completely stable again. There was a patch/update tomorrow too. But, yea PC..

Just finished the Cyberdemon. God, I love this game.

Anybody playing without the Hud, no crosshair and without glowing outlines? Quite hefty on UV but absolutely lovely.

I just realised that in my previous message I forgot to say that I finished the game a few days ago :)

I used the default graphics settings; having no crosshair would drive me insane but I could probably manage with the others turned off.

So do I (except for the glowing thing, that was a buzzkill) on my regular/first playthrough - but started another on UlraViolence with those things off - super immersive. No crosshair is the one I have to get used to the most.

I like the no Hud thing (do it on Battlefront the same) and I'm really glad they included that option. It's impossible for me to use it on DS3 though - that's just a cruel way to play. :D

I JUST bought an Xbox One, I bought The Elder Scrolls online and have not played anything else. It is very addicting it is however; in no way as good as the Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Skyrim, I feel you had more flexibility and more options to loot. I think here it is too organized and you can loot what ever you find and do not get me started on the hole "picking a lock" situation!

I just opened Forza 6. Sure it's old, but man is it fantastic! Just a magical tour on my backlog of games to get through and a nice stop on a great racing sim.
