Been playing some Fallout 4, was playing the new Deus Ex but can't get into it really. I've tried the COD Infinity demo this weekend and man is it very very very very very meh....!! Not paying that much for COD MW and a game I won't play!

That feeling of overwhelmed it's what most open world games now present players with from the moment they touch down and frankly it can be a total disservice to the game and player.

I'm getting tired of open world games. Sure there's a lot of stuff to do but most of it just gets in the way when all I want to do is enjoy the story. Like with Red Dead Redemption that I'm playing now I've stayed away from most of the side quests/missions because they've just felt like time killers. So then I spend 5+ minutes riding my horse to start the next mission. Setting up a camp and warping helps but then it's like what's the point of this giant world? It just gets in the way of what could be a concise, linear game/story.

I do have several other open world games waiting for me in my backlog. I'll be thinking twice before buying any more open world type games..

are you serious? Deus Ex is a excellent game, is it due to the hacking parts?

I finished up RDR the other day. Okay game. I hated the last 8 or so missions before the final mission. More cattle herding, horse breaking, boring hunting missions.... yawn..

I dabbled with 2016 DOOM multiplayer and SnapMap yesterday.

Now I'm playing through Battlefield 4 campaign

Started The Division recently. Loving it. Not a big FPS junkie but there is some decent depth too.

I enjoyed Doom. Very challenging and the most seamless frame rate experience on the PS4. 60 Frames and zero stutters on that game.

I am having a hard time with the controls in Dark Souls 1. Coming from Bloodborne, they feel really wobbly abd unresponsive.

I wonder if I should skip ahead to DS3. Does this have tighter, more Bloodborne-like controls?

Currently running are Little Big Planet 3 and Skyrim remastered. When the participants finish, I will start The Last Of Us Remastered.

Is it worth it spending 20k souls on the key to the tower behind the Firelink Shrine?

If you are early into the game then yes it's worth it as there's a ring and armor set behind it but be careful...as you should be playing dark souls.

I started The Last Guardian - HORRIBLE controls/camera but the story/interactions are awesome and worth it if you can bypass those two things.

Watch Dogs 2 and Let It Die (Haven't played them yet)

Bless

Watch Dogs 2 has been great to play. Much improved over the first Watch Dogs.

Started playing around with Badlands:Game of the Year Edition last night.

Wow, what a surprise and really fun, beautiful game. Challenging as well. I dont even remember buying it but maybe it was free on a PS+ month a while back as I work through my backlog.

Re-bought The Division on PS4...Just have to push myself to find a group to get better gear.

Bought Final Fantasy XV...So far, not so bad.

Still playing COD: Modern Warfare Remaster...I didn't want to prestige, but I did. And now, I want to do it again.

DS3 is very bloodborne like. If I can make progress in DS3 then you will have no trouble. I managed to get a little further into bloodborne the other day too :). Can't believe I'm still playing it despite it driving me mental ....

My backlog is ridiculous especially with the digital sales.

Return to Arkham on PS4 Pro is keeping me busy, finished Asylum and playing City again now.

Also bought a rake of other games that would be too long to list ....

How far did you get in Bloodborne?

In DS3, I made it to the first High Wall boss fight. Damn near beat him too, but not quite, and it was late. :p

I'm up to the Forsaken Castle I think. Where I am these shards / spikes begin jutting out of my characters body.

Castle Cainhurst? Snowy landscape with big crab/spider like things, and shrieking ghost ladies and hunchbacks inside the castle? Optional area where a carriage took you? If so, I hope you are leveled up high - that boss fight (Captain Logarius?) is one of the hardest in the entire game! ;)

Had to double check as that didn't sound right.

I am at start of The Nightmare of Mensis.

I was killed by Frenzy. Any tips for this area and how far have I got to go yet in the game ? (Excluding old hunters)

You don't have too much further to go.

As for frenzy, keep an eye on the environment; something happens when you get hit with frenzy and it's (mostly) possible to avoid it.
