You should see them running MorphOS. It's FAST and puts os9 to shame. Internal sound and wifi works, no cursor freezes, 2020 webkit based browser, and more games than you can shake a stick at.These Mac mini’s are the G5’s of OS 9 IMO.
We are working on making OS 9 great again.. stay tunedJust give OS9 a browser for 2021 standards, and the G4 Mac Minis would resurrect, breath new life back from the dust. Absolutely. Too bad we haven’t had updates to Classilla these years. An updated browser for OS9 would, for example, let me work from it designing on Photoshop 7 and export the assets to Figma web version. Oh, imagine the fun.
But how much is it and how do you buy it ?? Does it run on all G4 PB’s ?You should see them running MorphOS. It's FAST and puts os9 to shame. Internal sound and wifi works, no cursor freezes, 2020 webkit based browser, and more games than you can shake a stick at.![]()
The good news I spoke with Kaiser and he told me that classila is not dead or abandoned, just he does not have the time, but is looking for developers who can add to and or enhance it to work better. My goal for Classila along with those who are helping out will be as follows:We are working on making OS 9 great again.. stay tuned
Tell you what.. let him know to contact me and maybe we can get together those who want to make classila great. I like classila and OS 9 and I do use OS 9 for a lot of things, simple things.I mentioned this before, but the Classilla devs should definitely talk to Roytam1 on MSFN.org forums, about his mozilla forks for Windows. One of the things he did for me was a set of NSS updates for Netscape 9.0.0.6 on Windows 98, so I could browse certain https sites with updated TLS 1.2. CSS and HTML is still broken, but I could for example access some vintage forums like VOGONS with Netscape 9 on Windows 98 SE. Brilliant.
Even his Retrozilla browser for old Windows 9x is a brilliant job, similar to what Cameron Kaiser did for Classilla.
Even if I like it, how would I pay for it since its in Europe ?
OS 9 has a lot of mystical likeness and for those who grew up with it - it was what defined the PowerPC experience.Excuse me if it is wrong thread. What is so outstanding in OS9 in comparison to OS X? I've never seen it in action, just pair of games in Classic mode in Tiger. Can somebody explain it or drop some links, plz? ^_^
What does that mean?OS 9 has a lot of mystical likeness
Meaning, its special and dear to those who grew up with it. Love or hate it, still its part of the Mac ecosystem. What does that mean?
The above URL should have played on my PB G4, URl was typed as follows:

Then you'll probably like Rhapsody as well. Same look and feel as 8/9 but much more robust underpinnings. Its simplicity and ease to use, and the platinum theme.
If understand you, on my PB G4, I have PPCMC installed and went to any random YouTube site, for example in the url I typed this: https://my IP address found under web sharing /ppcmc.??You're not meant to be type a URL into PPCMC - you copy the Youtube URL then select your option in PPCMC.
But rhapsody is hard to set up using modern hardware - can Rhapsody work under a G4 PB using Ethernet ?Then you'll probably like Rhapsody as well. Same look and feel as 8/9 but much more robust underpinnings.
Probably not, Rhapsody is only usable on very select Macintosh systems released during the time it was current or slightly older. PowerBook G4 is too new for it, especially if we're talking the 1 GHz.But rhapsody is hard to set up using modern hardware - can Rhapsody work under a G4 PB using Ethernet ?
Got 4/7 - my only experience with Seven has been 7.6.1 in Basilisk II.Not done on a PPC Mac, but there's this fun quiz on System 7 Today
I got a 6/7![]()
