Cool, I didn't know that.
According to Wikipedia only the SCPH-5903 does VCD playback.
As for me, I'd love to get my hands on the Linux kit for the "phat" PS2 and have a play with that.
Getting very off topic at this point, but technically it’s still related to PPC Macs.
AFAIK, you can use cdrdao to write Sega CD, Sega CD 32X, PSX, and Sega Saturn Games. And with my Dreamcast CDI Burner app you can burn Dreamcast games.
What other company has struck out every single time on copy protection other then Sega?
Sega CD/Sega CD 32X - No copy protection at all (to be fair it was released in ‘91), have heard stories PPC Macs can burn games no problem.
Sega Saturn - First revisions have a very easy swap trick. The only other revision still has a single swap method but it’s a bit different timing.
Sega Dreamcast - MIL-CD, do I need to say more?
To this day there is no self boot PS X method like on the Dreamcast, but to be fair this isn’t one either on the Saturn. Weirdly enough though their is one for the PS2 released very recently... Who would’ve thought buggy DVD code would result in this, almost the same thing that happened with MIL-CD in the Dreamcast!
There is an argument that none of this was relevant till after they discontinued the Dreamcast which is real IMO, but in 2021...
Lately I’ve been all about exploiting real hardware with ‘fake’ games! It’s the way more fun the emulation IMO.
