Got the 2,1 out to grab some things from the Garden. Tiger will forever hold a place in my heart. It’s snappy af on this 2.0 C2D and an SSD. I really wish I still had the G3/G4 iBooks I used to have.

Oh man, Tiger kicked all sorts of ass on my beloved 400 Mhz Sawtooth. It was also fantastic on my 700 Mhz G3 iBook, at least until the GPU died. :(

BTW, is MacBook A1342 compatible with Tiger & Leopard? M.B. with some unofficial installers?
Tiger (10.4.11) won’t boot. Leopard (10.5.8) probably will (it does on a 2010 MBA with basically the same hardware) after removing the GeForce kexts, meaning no graphics acceleration.

In that vein of running earlier macOS versions than is supported, I can run Tiger on my MacPro3,1.
I have run Tiger on an Early 2008 MacBook and an Early 2008 MacBook Air. No graphics acceleration but - heck, Tiger on a thin and light laptop is awesome! In the same vein - Leopard on a Late 2010 MacBook Air (no graphics acceleration) and Snow Leopard on a Mid-2011 MacBook Air (with graphics acceleration).

There will always be those obnoxious pedantic users ready to point out the fact that you are incorrectly posting about cmps in an early intel forum
I hope my statement didn’t trigger that response, because I absolutely didn’t mean to come across as pedantic! :)

Ooh, I like that very much.:apple:
I can share that ATM image if you’d like.

Playing around with Screen Mirroring (I have AirServer) and my iPhone 11 Pro Max (that's the screen of the Mini on the left).

I figure I would ask this in here.
Can I insert a WiFi/BT from a mid 2012 MBP into an early 2011 MBP? I can’t see why not? But figured I would ask if anyone has tried this before?

Potential harm? Etc.

Reason? I have a keyboard/mouse set that actually requires BT 4.0.

[The free TV]

What about rotating it? Would it fit then? (No idea how to mount it like that though.)
Well, width-wise it's still tall enough to block the bottom of the TV (the one already on the wall). Turn it and it's going to block half the TV.

I think I will probably end up cleaning up the garage and putting it and the Mini out there. I had some rearranging plans anyway.

No no no, there is a huge grand canyon sized difference between being knowledgeable, informative, *helpful* and expressing an opinion (that for all intents and purposes is not wrong) vs being a pedantic knowitall keyboard warrior who effectively "weaponizes' rules and regs with an air of superiority or authority where there is none. That sort of behavior lacks common sense ... lacks contextual intelligence & understanding ... effectively a flat out lack of maturity. We are all busy people with limited time so when I see that sort of mannerism and behavior, it just gets in the way of the help that people visiting the forums are asking for. I ignore that behavior so I can get to what is important and that is participating in the forum and helping folks when I think I can.

Bought another MBP 2,2 to replace my other one. This one has a 2.33ghz C2D and the 256 MB version of the Radeon X1600 along with the Max amount of RAM. Has a 160 GB HDD, which seems to still be working The new 2,2 turned out to have a faulty backlight and the battery was dead and causing startup problems. So, I replaced the display assembly with the one from my 2.16 ghz 2,2 and also replaced the keyboard and mouse assembly with the one from my 2.16ghz 2,2 because it was in better condition than the 2.33ghz one. I will probably swap the HDD with my 2.16ghz's SSD at some point. Currently running Snow Leopard. Will probably dual boot Snow Leopard with either Lion or patched Mountain Lion once I get the SSD installed.

This is a 17“(?) Congrats! :)

Perhaps patched Mavericks is also worth checking out if you haven’t done so already. For, like, Firefox ESR ‘n’ stuff. :)
Unfortunately, it’s not a 17”. The 2,2 is a 15’’. A 17” would be a 2,1. I tried patched Mavericks in the past on a 2,2 and I would have this issue where the scroll bars would randomly disappear in Finder and in FireFox and never appear again until I refreshed/rebooted. It made things like scrolling through a channel list on Discord difficult. If it wasn’t for that issue, I would be using patched Mavericks.

There is a setting in System Preferences (General section I believe) where you can set scrollbars to always appear. Does the bug you cite in Mavericks happen even if that's enabled?

Congrats on your find! I've always had the impression that MBPs with specs like that are quite rare; I keep forgetting that RM X1600-equipped machines do exist with CPUs above 2.16 Ghz.

I'm currently installing Mavericks onto the MBP. I will try your suggestion and see what happens.

Thanks! I've always liked the look of the aluminum MBPs/PBG4s. My 2.16ghz model was working fine until I installed an update under Windows XP that somehow messed up that Mac's ability to boot OS X, so that's why I bought this one.

i even have an a1260 board (the common 2.4 one) but the GPU is FUBAR soooo probably not gonna bother with that!

Snow Leopard was such a beautiful OS. I wonder if it's the nostalgia or the OS really was THAT GREAT.
Loved it so much and used it for years. Unfortunately the software support forced me to move forward.
I'd say a mix of both. It is a nostalgia but at the same time the OS was indeed great. Fast, simple and user friendly. I've recently stumbled upon this article that explains what made the UI so great. It's a good read.
I still use SL but only for retro gaming.
