So my thought is, if you’re willing to sell/trade your Max, now would actually be the time to do that, because there will be a large influx of 2018 devices that will be sold online in preparation for those who want to upgrade to the latest iPhone. If you have a back up device that you can fall back _if_ you try to sell your Max, that would be my suggestion, as the keynote obviously is quickly approaching.

Trade in thru Best Buy Att or Apple won’t give me enough. I’m not that comfortable selling to private person. So not sure what I’ll do now.

Understandable. Honestly, I probably would just sell in person, if you find someone that you actually believe is a legitimate buyer (And I stress the term legitimate), meet in a public area (Police Department/Coffee Shop), bring a friend/family member with you, but that’s just my own suggestion. I’m actually not comfortable selling online anymore, because the amount of fraud that it entails. But by trading in, you obviously take a hit financially what retailers will give you, but it’s also a ‘safe bet’. The choice is yours.

I have a few XS Max 512 GB unlocked. I plan on keeping both until next year and then I'll see what happens with the iPhone then. The battery capacities on my two XS Max still read 100 since buying in October so they will easily last another year. I also have another ty her 512GB Max still new in the box that I bought in January from AT&T. I'm covered for phones for a long long time.

I sold a 512GB XS Max for $900 last month on Craigslist.

I've accepted that I'm somewhat of an iPhone / mobile photography enthusiast so unless the camera is absolutely game-changing(which apples marketing super team might depict) I'll most likely be sticking with my 256gb iPhone x.

Well unless I find a deal on an iPhone XS and the difference to "upgrade" is manageable.

Upgrading this year or downgrading in the eyes of some. Got a XS Max 256gb. Looking for a smaller device. I’ve found that the size of the X or XR is perfect for me. Plus, if a phone comes in lavender or any shade of purple I’m all over it.

I have the XS Max - will be skipping the update this year. The handsets are getting way to expensive to be replacing on a yearly basis (I prefer to buy outright)

Maybe next year......

I currently have a X and 7 Plus - No compelling reason to upgrade yet. Both phones operate very well.
Maybe next year - or sooner if the 7 Plus gets worn out.

I have an XS Max, unlocked, bought when they were first released. Everything is working great, battery is still 100% with only 125 cycles on it, so I will definitely keep it another year. If anything happens, I still have my XS unlocked that is also working well.

Still keep my SE as it is small enough to be carried in pocket, placed over dashboard in the car etc.
Thinking of buying one more SE as my current is getting weary.

A lot of people doing this, seems the XR hit the spot for many. I’ve noticed more and more XRs in the office, I think I am amongst the few with XS Max in the building.

Looking at some of the case leaks showing the camera layouts I think the iPhone 11 with the dual camera will be the big hit this year too, especially if it keeps a competitive price point like the XR. There’s quite a few where I work too now and company phones are starting to be upgraded to the XR. Not a single person in the offices where I work has an XS or XS Max, but there is one iPhone X. Price is the attraction and what the phone is capable of.

Same! I have an Xs and I just need a little bigger but don’t want the max lol I really hope the lavender rumors are true!

Indeed.

People not seeing the point of paying extra, when they can get all they want at a lower price point.

I have a X which is almost paid for. My wife has an 8 Plus so I know I'm going to upgrade her. I just don't know what I'm going to do yet. Part of me wants a larger phone but I also really like the size of the X. I use a workout app and a larger screen would be nice though the larger phone is more cumbersome. I'll wait until the reveal next week to make up my mind.

I have a 7 and am now itching to update, but it will depend on what they have for us. I don’t really want either the size of the Xr or the price of the Xs, and I feel like I’m likely to have to settle on one of those fronts if I want a new phone.

iPhone Xs currently, and planning on upgrading the the Max size this year.

I went big a couple years, then downsized, now going back up.

I have the X, which has a completely shattered back and many cracks in the screen (fell off the motorcycle on the highway). It’s slowly dying so I can’t wait to upgrade, although I still don’t know if I should go regular or Max

Max will be paid off August 2020. I'm very content with my iPhone, but I'll be keeping an eye out for the 2020 line up of products. I'm skipping this year

Currently have the Xs max and I might upgrade this year, but not for the camera or specs etc. Frankly they’ve been more than sufficient for a couple of gens. I’m currently waiting to see based on the following:
  1. If the new device is thinner and lighter (remember that craze?) I might consider it. I like the max, but it’s a heavy device for me based on how, and how long, I hold it.
  2. Might consider the lcd version. I can’t tell if the OLED is disturbing my eyes or I’m just imagining it. I do know I never had this question before the X or Xs max. So maybe the lcd version?
  3. If I stick with the OLED, I might go for the smaller device. The max is great but I think I prefer smaller devices. And I can’t think of any use case advantages the max has - for me - other than more text on the screen. And I have access to chargers throughout the day.
So if they’re heavier or thicker - nope. If they’re the same - maybe the smaller OLED or the lcd.

I was thinking about upgrading from a launch day iPhone X to the base model iPhone 11. The main reason for this is I’d like a slightly bigger phone than the X I have at the moment and I probably couldn’t afford the iPhone 11 pro max as I expect the pro models to be pretty expensive.

I mentioned it to a friend and he thought I was crazy because he thinks the base 11 will be a step backwards from the X in terms of the display and it won’t feel as premium.

I’m not sure I agree. I’m sure the iPhone 11 will feel like a premium phone in the hand and I’m not convinced I’d really notice the difference display that much. I do think I’d enjoy the bigger display more tho and as the new iPhone 11 will have a dual camera I don’t feel it would be a step backwards in that regard either.

What’s everyone’s opinion on this? Smart move or am I being stupid as my friend suggests?

I currently stoll have 5S. I would like to buy a new phone as the battery is terrible even after anotherr replacement but iPhone 11 Pro is likely going to be 1000 USD again (1300 USDs with taxes) and XR's successor is going to be too large (again), so I still don't know what to buy...
