iPhone Xs 256GB replaced by Apple with a new June build model after first the replacement was faulty too. One year of Apple care left so I'm keeping this phone and waiting to see what happens next year. I'm really not interested in another camera lens (better night imagery would be great) but I can live without spending £1000+ again this year for that feature. Better FaceID would be good but this phone seems much better than my launch model at unlocking so I can live with that, also this years phones will more than likely still have intel modems so I cant see the point, even 4G was better with Qualcomm modems in fringe reception areas (as was fringe reception) and next year we may well get Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) as that will have been ratified by the end of this year.

5G sounds great but in reality is going to take years to build up, needing small cells in cities every 200 meters or so (cant see that helping rural areas much and I live is a rural area) also with data caps in the UK i don't fancy burning though all my data in one go by downloading a whole series of whatever the hell I want to watch in a minute or under at the speeds its capable/promised. I think we are a good few years from good 5G coverage and new battery technology to cope with the drain it will impose plus a few modem revisions to get that 5G right, just like with 3G then 4G. Still buying a new phone without 5G will mean less resale value when I come to sell it to the people that want bleeding edge battery drain.

iPhone 7 here and I see no need to spend tons of cash when this phone is still working awesomely well. Probably keep it till it dies. Lightening fast and running ios13. Best RF of any phone I can recall save some of the older nokias, maybe to good as it is above the accepted levels or so I read. Still has the home button and none of the crap gesturing required I really dislike anyway. Battery still going strong after nearly 3 years. I have no
complaints about anything. Not upgrading.

Managed to get a brand new XS for just 780€ a few weeks ago that replaced my 7plus that I had for 2 years. Definitely not upgrading this year, probably again in 2021 when people sell their upgrade devices (iPhone 12?).

How much did Apple offer for the X on trade in right after the Xs was released? An X fetches $400 now at Apple, but I'm wondering what it was last year after the Xs was released.

Trying to gauge what they will offer on an Xs once the 11 is out, as right now their site doesn't even let you select an Xs.

When I bought my 256GB Xs I advertised my year iPhone 7 (128GB with new battery from Apple) on a site called Gumtree here in the UK. The buyer didn't even haggle and I got the advertised price of £400, not bad really considering the 7 was bought at launch. You will always get more if you sell privately.

Right. This doesn't answer my question at all though.

Currently on a 256gb iPhone 7, it's still running fine but needs a battery replacement and I want a better camera. Potentially upgrading to either the "11" or "11R" or a refurbished/cut price XS/XR!
Why not a trade in for the latest phone?

I have a 64 gig X and am only upgrading it for more storage. Will probably get a new XR.
Get one from Sprint? As I know sprint signal in Plano is way too bad

I have an iPhone 6 16 GB and no, i don’t plan to upgrade it since my iPhone 6 still works well. However i wait for Apple to announce the new models in order to see if the prices will go down.

I have an X and it does everything I want it to. It's the best phone I've had since my Lumia 950 Windows Mobile. Until there's a compelling reason to update, I could see myself carrying this phone for a couple of more years.

X currently, would consider an upgrade to a new non-Max model if they either make FaceID unlock at any face rotation above 45º, or if they ditch it and bring back TouchID.

I have the X Max - I like it.... I do hope they do pencil support, then I will upgrade (unless they release it for last years Max as well). I really have not heard of anything that appeals to me this year.

I am really tempted by the Note 10+, I really miss having my stylus. I do have a Wacom stylus for my Max, but it does not work anywhere near like my Pencil on my iPad Pros. I also really LOVE how my Mac, iPads, iphone and watch all work together. I also might get a new watch, currently on gen 3 Apple Watch.

SO I will know more soon....

Will definitely stick with AT&T. With their wireless HQ here, the service has always been great.

I’ve got a X and think I’ll upgrade to the Pro+ or whatever it ends up being called. I’ve missed the larger screen since my 6S+, and have screen size envy of my wife’s XR. That and the added battery life the larger size offers. But I’m a bit on the fence as I’ve been rocking my iPP 12.9” as my daily travel work device, so less need for a large screened phone. It will be interesting to see what this version ends up having - I’m certainly more excited this year than I was for last year’s launch, since I was so happy with the X there was no reason to upgrade.

I'm genuinely considering going from the XS Max to the 11 Pro (the small full-featured one)

But ultimately I think I'm better off holding off.

256gb iPhone 8 Plus

Just got swapped back after using a Note 9 for a year, never going back to android again. I’ll be looking for the “smaller” 2019 iPhone to upgrade to. Xs Max looks too unwieldy.
