In a coffee shop.
Dinner comprised:

Veal soup, (a regional speciality), a delicious beef carpaccio, an incredible and deceptively simple salad comprised simply of tomatoes and cucumber - both of which had met, greeted, and been kissed by, the sun - what a difference in flavour the presence of heat and light made - seasoned a little (by me) with salt, black pepper, and drizzled with a little olive oil, and served with local, crusty (and very good) bread.

To accompany, I enjoyed a glorious glass of Vranac from an excellent local producer, and some sparkling water.

Delicious; divine.

Yesterday, I dined on a delicious local specialty, - grilled squid, blitva (potatoes and chard, dressed in olive oil), slices of lemon, and a dish of minced garlic in olive oil.....

A meal that was washed down with a few glasses of rather good local Vranac wine.

The plate was wiped clean......and the wine glass was empty.

Delicious, divine.

Despite its poor record on seafood sustainability I have always wanted to go to Nobu. Was taken there for a birthday dinner.

It did not start well. They sent out multiple texts - 1 person time limit is 1:30, 2 persons 1:45, you must be there at your 5 pm reservation time, there is a $50 corkage fee ... We were there at 5:00 but weren't seated until 5:10. They generously said "You can stay until 7:15"

But things turned around when we got to the table. They changed the while napkins for black ones as my companion was wearing black. Service was excellent. And then the food ...

May have been the best dinner that I've ever eaten and I have dined on all 7 continents. Well worth the 100's of dollars cost (since I wasn't paying!)

Homemade 5 cheese meatball pizza with handmade meatballs and homemade marinara sauce. It's what I do with leftover spaghetti and meatballs when I don't have any rolls for meatball sandwiches. 20241016_140822.jpg
