What part of the Alien series are you referring to? ;) Alien franchise movies 1-2 were A+, movies 3-6 SUCKED. Alien Resurrection made me want to puke. Number 7 (Prometheus) was a move in the right direction. link. And although not technically an Alien movie, Predator/Arnold was outstanding.

I have to agree with you, Alien and Aliens were awesome while the rest were not so good. Prometheus is a step in the right direction. I think it had a lot to do with Ridley Scott and James Cameron being the directors for those three.

"Citizen Kane". What more can be said than what has already been said...arguably the most creative (cinematography, lighting, direction) film ever.

Or at least in the top 3!!!:D

Citizen Kane is ground breaking movie, but I find it hard to watch more than once.

Currently watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

That is actually a very good movie - actually, the movie adaptation of POA is one of the better HP movies (not that I've seen all of the later ones).

Last movies I've seen were The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and The Driver. Both classics. I highly recommend Walter Hill's rather unknown The Driver from the 70s to everyone who liked Bullitt. Extra-cool.
Haven't seen Drive until know but am wondering if it is a kind of remake..setting seems to be comparable.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is brilliant; I saw it years ago in the university film club - clever, disturbing, stunningly filmed, nuanced and utterly gripping. Superb for its time.

That is a superb film; fabulous story-telling, multiple narrators, great script, acting, lighting, cinematography - simply spell-binding.

Have to say I disagree; it is so good, I find something fresh to admire each time I see it - the US adjective 'awesome' applies here. A work of sheer unadulterated genius, and a fantastic example of ensemble acting, too.

I watched yesterday Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Probably among the top 5 best Sci-Fi of all time (and one of my favorite movies from my childhood). Today, I will watch Home alone :D.

I had "Pufnstuf" on last night. I know it was for kids, I know it was made in the '70's, but man, that was one terrible movie. Luckily, I had other things distracting me through most of it.

Full Disclosure: Kind of cheating, because I watched the movie last night.

"The Third Man"...brilliant!!!

I realized, to my amazement, that I had never watched the whole movie. It's so good...the cinematography (especially the use of the "Dutch angle" to represent Holly Martin's disorientation as a foreigner n Vienna, and his disorientation regarding Harry Lime).

The final scene is breathtaking, with director Carol Reed's incredibly ballsy super long take and violating the expectation that Holly would "get the girl".

A really amazing movie!

I agree completely. One of my all time favourites, too. Fantastic script, - mostly by Graham Greene, (the scene in the ferris wheel is sublime, much of it scripted by Orson Welles), acting, direction, cinematography, that haunting zither music (Anton Karas, bless him; was ever a theme so elegant, fitting and sinister all at once?), and a timeless topic of amoral postwar profiteering and the consequences of being on the losing side in the wrong zone...

And yes, that final scene. Superb. Breath-taking. Wonderful. Brilliant. To my mind, it is an example of the one of the differences between US and European sensibilities - most US movies would have gone for the soft or easy option at that stage and allowed Holly to 'get the girl'. (Yes, I know, not all, not Casablanca for instance, and a few other timeless classics, but most would have). Not The Third Man - it opted for the bitter sweet integrity of art and is all the better for it.

I loved the houseward and his wife (and their accents):D
Famous austrian actors by the time, mostly theater I guess. And definitely the best "background" scenery ever in cinematic history.

Citizen Kane to me is a great example of artistic perfection which does not touch me too much upon a personal level. It's an amazing movie, and the more I read and learn about it and its production history the more it gets exciting, which I would hardly choose into my top ten. Maybe like the Mona Lisa.

I just watched 'Maverick' for the probably 1000th time - one of those movies I can't seem to get enough of!

Great cast with Mel Gibson, the legendary James Garner and stunning Jodie Foster.

Super soundtrack, lots of great Country & dixie tunes. It even helped make one of the best versions of Amazing Grace video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsLsr-ftP6E

Seven Psychopaths- What a horrible movie. For reference, I usually like something like this as long as the story is sound. If anything, RENT! ;)

Gorgeous Blue Velvet. Favorite director and favorite actor with great and inventive story equals favorite movie. Frank must be one of the most menacing personages I know of.

Last night I watched "The Lorax". I thought it was okay, but I can definitely see why it had industrialists up in arms.

On the other hand, my boys were enthralled.

Watching "Double Indemnity", often considered the grandaddy of all film noir.

Interesting casting...Barbara Stanwyck as the femme fatale, Fred MacMurray, usually cast as the nice guy, and Edward G Robinson, who steals every scene in which he appears.

Wonderful direction and cinematography. A must see for classic movie fans to understand the beginnings of film noir.:D

Superb movie! I've just seen it once up to now though.

Finally I could lay hands on What Ever Happened to Baby Jane..that's worth mentioning because it's incredible expensive over here, even used ones!
Was quite a surprise to get the BluRay edition at a Spanish Fnac (notoriously overpriced) store for 10€ when it's almost 30€ for a new DVD. Must have been me having B-Day. Going to watch it this evening.

I finally pulled the plug on Prometheus and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed that movie thoroughly

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane is a hoot! What a great and wild melodrama/horror film! As you undoubtedly know, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford hated each other with a white hot passion. In the scene where Davis kicks Crawford while she is on the floor, the story is Davis "accidentally" really kicked Crawford. Apparently the set was not a place you really wanted to be when the two of them were doing a scene together.

A wonderful piece of schlock!!:D
