In my case, I've been using and iPad Pro 10.5 2017 since lauch day, the battery is prematurely degraded with 400 cycles only as Coconut Battery reports 85% of capacity remaining. Also the very annoying "bright spot" next to the home button. I will jump to the next model without a doubt. (And I like more Face ID than Touch ID)

85% from coconut (which means over 90% from Apple) is definitely not a premature wear of the battery at 400 cycles, it's even pretty good...

I ignored upgrading my phone in anticipation of the new iPad pro.
Battery life decreased remarkably after installing iOS 14 on my 12.9 Ipad pro gen3.

A better screen. Refresh rate, Color saturation, HDR capability, brightness level. All have stayed the same since 2017.

I’ve got a 512gb + cellular 2018 12.9”. Right now the only thing that will get me to buy new in 2021 is Big Sur. Yep, I’ve preached iPad for years. It’s time for Apple to step up and bring parity in usability for hardware that have almost identical costs. I’m tired of the limitation of iPad OS on their iPad Pros.

Coming from a 2020 iPad Pro, it would take a lot for me to upgrade, basically a significant upgrade of everything brought so more RAM (8GB), OLED or MiniLED 120hz ProMotion display, A14X/Z, even louder Quad Speakers lol.

Doubt I will be upgrading any time soon as I doubt Apple will do much more than a chip and maybe a screen upgrade. I highly doubt they will do 8GB RAM, they will probably stick to 6GB RAM.

Would Apple equip it with an A15x?

Given the 2020 iPad Pro is competitive with the A14, I’d think they’d need something more than just mini-LED.

2020 iPad Pro has the A12Z chip not A14.
Yes I’m aware of that. The 12z is competitive with the A14. Yes slower on single core but faster in multi-thread calculations.

So would an A14x be enough of a differentiator from an A14? That why I’m wondering if they need something more.

I’ll upgrade as soon as I can order a new 11” model. I got the 12.9“ IPP last year thinking I would love it, but have come to realize I miss the smaller size.

The only thing that would get me to upgrade my 2015 iPP 1st Gen 12.9 is an ipad that works seemlessly with MacOS so that I can use my pencil to write stuff on the ipad in screen share while zooming on my macMini. And a very, very stable MacOS and iPadOS to go with it. *Very* stable, like Mojave stable.

New battery on my ipad with 877 cycles and 66% battery health made it real zippy and stable so I might get another year or 2 out of it. In the meantime, I'll wait to see if they get the macMini upgraded to a stable OS that does much, much more than the current Big Sur.

Nevermind. I just had to use zoom on the ipad, then load a plug in on the mac, share screen through screen share and voila. My life has just gotten sooooo much easier. I hope it works well without airpod drops or apple screen share drops.

A15 would probably be on par with A14X at best, so it would need to be A15X, but more importantly that would mean waiting at least until October 2021, since A15, rumored to be on 3nm, will probably go into mass production this summer at the earliest (and I not even sure A15X would be ready at the same time...). Not impossible, but given that A12Z is roughly on par with A12X from over 2 years ago, A14X would be enough of a differenciator, definitely much more than A12Z was...

I don’t think they’ll ever do this, because it will stop people from having to buy both a Mac and an iPad. I agree a singular Device would be ideal.

Want to get a price locked in for my gen 2 with Music Magpie (UK) which lasts for 21 days. obviously guessing soon as there is news on an upcoming iPad event the price will drop so better to get it locked in prior to any announcement.

Not sure how long Apple give for online events if one. Anyone any ideas best time to do it, I am thinking about 7th that way I am covered most of mid/end March

Seems decent but 2 week lock-in on prices

£402 for a 4G 256GB 12.9 Gen. could probably get more on eBay but not sure it’s a risk worth taking. Apple replaced it in Jan 21 so it’s a 2 month old refurb

Ah right ok, plunc seemed to offer the most, decent service as well.

I wasn’t fussed about letting it go as had just bought an M1 MacBook Pro to replace it, just want Apple to release an updated iPad Pro 11 128GB cellular then I’m set lol

iPad Pro Mini ?
Because I like the size of the mini better for what I use the iPads for.
