I never tell Windows users that I have to unmount/eject external storage devises before disconnecting them. Sometimes I forget to do this and just pull the plug and get that error message telling me that bad things might happen.

Well don't feel too bad about that. Unless you're running XP SP2 (granted, a lot of people are now), it does that in all other versions of Windows.

I don't have any Windows friends (I'm socially selective ;)), but if I did, I'd tell them that:

• Microsoft Messenger is a pathetic MSN client, and the alternatives aren't much better
• The SuperDrive in the PowerBook can't be flashed yet
• The SuperDrive in the PowerBook is very picky with DVD+/-R media
• My PowerBook has rendered me sterile

So... yeah... nothing too major (other than the sterility :()

I have one friend who's a serious gamer so I agree w/ mad jew; it's a bit of a bummer to admit that so many games aren't available.

What else... umm... bummer that the beautiful keyboard gets so grimy and dirty (darn those clear sides!).

So is the Dual-Layer burner in my PM.

I stalls when writing on any el-cheapo DVD media.

It seems to like Sony DVD's the best. :confused:

Err.... you're serious?

My gripe is the dead pixel on my 12" Powerbook. Out of a 1024x768 screen, I get one dead pixel - while in the past years prior, I have purchased 3 Dell laptops - one at 1024x768, one at 1400x1050, and one at a whopping 1920x1200 LCD resolution -- we're talking millions and millions of total pixels -- never any dead ones.

And my first Powerbook and WHAM.

Not cool.

Be honest.

OK. Honestly: no, nothing comes to mind. Sorry....

It gets uncomfortably hot, but sterile... wow..

What I don't tell my Windows Using Friends (tm) is that the trackpad gives a slight buzzing sensation under my thumbs when the powerbook is charging (although I love that)

The power cord that comes with any powerbook/ibook will eventually cease to function and you will need to shovel out $80+ bucks to replace it. I've read this happening as early as 3 months after purchase, mine waited about 2 and a half years (I was lucky). Safari crashes constantly on a G5 but works fine on my titanium (both running tiger). And yes palad1 I get that same small buzzing shock occasionally, keeps me awake durring late nights :)

the only people i really tell that macs are better are my parents

I lied and told my dad my mac mini came with microsoft office so now i have to work around that

for some reason my printer wasnt working over the network even though i told my dad macs were plug and play with everything

also never tell my dad that my mac freezes (usually when i have 8+ programs running though, his computer can hardly handle more than 3)

that all i can think of

What you don't tell your Windows ® friends...

* Screen navigation using the keyboard shortcuts.
* Sloth like MS Office 2004
* Fan noise on my iMac G5
* The porn collection in the baseme.....well I don't mention that to anyone actually. :eek: Probably best you just forget I mentioned it.

And the Windows "eject" method is pretty awkward, having to hunt down that icon with the green arrow in the task bar.

On the thread topic, I don't have a Mac so I can't not tell anyone about what I don't like.

One of the very first comment my friend made on my new mini was there wasn't a scroll button on the mouse. Thats was before mighty mouse was born. "But it was sexy" she said later. :)

hmmm I have never really had a problem with my Macs ever, nothing totally locks up the system. Very rarely a program will crash (even less so is that the programs built into OS X crash even less). I have not had a problem with displays.

My only problem is that i had an iBook G3 that had the logic board failure but Apple replaced it with a powerbook so i have zero qualms about that.

Honestly Apple and Bose and Nintendo are the best (big) companies i have ever dealt with in my life. Sony and MS on the other hand i have never had a good thing to say about either. From sony i always get faulty hardware that fails within a few months. And MS well we all know about them.

My PowerBook has acquired a taste for Imation DVD-Rs, it'll spit out anything else without even attempting to burn it :mad:

Am I the only one who's experienced the dull testicular ache? I assumed that the subtle pain was indicative of sterility. Hey, maybe I'm wrong... maybe it's giving them super-strength! :D ;)

Just make sure you name your son Steve, so HIS plan will be 100% complete.

I, for one, welcome our Apple-Genetically Engineered Offspring Overlords.

I don't talk to my Windows friends about my Mac at all. They're not interested in switching (on the one occasion that we all ended up in an Apple Store in Chicago, they couldn't get past the no 'full screen' button long enough to actually log into their webmail).

They use their computers but they don't like them in the same way I like my Mac. I'm expecting that my pal who uses Windows editing software a lot will start offering advice when I start using iMovie but since we'll both have only used our own platform's application, how much sense we make to each other will be questionable.

If I had to pull out something to not tell a potential? That it's harder to chat to friends on MSN since some of the advanced Messenger functions aren't available; that you definitely need lots of RAM to help OSX stay more stable and that they're likely to find themselves spending a lot of time on Mac websites since there's more inclination to keep up to date with Apple gear than PC stuff! :p

I don't tell them about how my powerbook isn't flat!!! What kinda S**t is that, nice looking computer, 1700 bux worth, but doesn't sit flat!!! It ticks me off so much! Oh yah and sometimes when i'm playing a .wmv in vlc, vlc will quit out on me and it keeps on doing it, so eventually i jus have to play it in windows media player..

But the flat thing, that ticks me off so much!

I hate that the "home" and "end" keys don't work (usually) the way I want them to.

I hate that I need to go to the bottom right corner to resize a window.

I miss being able to create new documents of various types by right-clicking on the desktop.

My Macs do lock up/crash occasionally.

Safari slows to a crawl way too often, and it has nothing to do with bandwidth.

I don't like that... wait, I just can't go on with this.

*** runs off crying ***

Mmm...
- iMac G5 fan noise (and anyone reading my previous posts will know about that);
- networking with PCs: I stopped trying after some attempts (but I've sold my PC now anyway :p );
- the right-bottom corner for resizing a window;
- the fact that many drivers are updated for PC only, and you end up with crappy Mac versions (obviously compiled by an intern and forgotten afterwards);
- iSync doesn't want to sync with my Sony S700i;
- iSync didn't want to sync with my former PDA Sony Clié;
- most of the software for my Sony DSC-F828 is only for PC;
- Sony doesn't love Apple (in general).

Well, other bad comments too, but I think I'd be kinda picky :p

Now, to all the people complaining about dead pixels , I can tell you I had some pixels killed under my very eyes. About 5 years ago, some people didn't like the music coming from the party in my flat (I suppose; or maybe they were just jealous of my social life). Some 1-digit-IQ-ape threw a stone through my (closed) window. The stone reached less than 1m away from my PB3400, but pieces of glass flew through the room, and I had 2 small pieces of glass stuck in my screen afterwards (like, 2 spots, killing maybe 2-4 pixels). Well, nobody got hurt, so that's better. But a good point for Apple: the PB kept on working, despite the pixels DOA :D

(PS: I'll look for a picture, but I'm not sure if I can find it, and it was the resolution of a Quicktake 100 anyway...)

(PPS: .:*Robot Boy*:. what about http://www.findadoctor.com ???)

Well I keep quiet about my eMacs 167MHz system bus. :eek:
I usually go crazy explaining how much better Mac is then peeeee (you get the point). :D
