Made by Norwegian TV, - which would imply a degree of authenticity - or somebody else, or a number of TV stations together? Where is it set, and what are the stories about? Arctic stuff with Russians?

Involves around his service in Afganistan and his work back home.

Ah.

Sounds very interesting.

Then, the service in Afghanistan would have been with the NATO (under the umbrella of ISAF, or - more recently - the Resolute Support Mission); what years did the programme cover?

Was it (is it) any good? Is it worth watching?

Apparently it is fairly current.

Fuller House is a funnier show than Full House. Not as cheesy. More darker, edgier humor for this century. The three kids are actually pretty funny. It knows how to make fun of itself. And each character is pretty likeable (sans, Kimmy) and well-written. I am actually rooting for Jodie Sweetin to be happy. I like how the cast members are really like a family during the last 30 years in real life.

The episode when Steph tells Deej that she couldn't have kids, I felt real tears coming from both because we know Jodie's battle with drug addict before. Jodie does have two daughters though in real life. Now Candace is a devout Christian like her older bro. But I saw real tears come out of her. Candace is the kinda girl you marry. Jodie is the one you party with and has gotten divorced three times

I absolutely didn't expect to laugh from Fuller House knowing how cheesy its predecessor was. I remember waiting for TGIF from the early 90's with Full House being on a 8pm on ABC. But its successor has hit a chord with me. The Tanners are the Brady Bunch for my generation.

Sherlock. BBC One.

That was mentioned in this article featuring 17 shows for 2017. Yes, I have watched it in the past and will continue watching.

My question does anyone recommend Black Sails? It's the prequel to Treasure Island telling the story of Captain Flint. It's on Starz, but I won't subscribe there, more likely would buy Season 1 for $15 on Amazon.

Edit: Fixed Legion and Star Trek entries.
A List of shows for 2017 in article linked above.
  • Game of Thrones (HBO)
  • Sherlock (BBC)- Seen in the US on PBS Masterpiece Mystery, if not shown on BBC America.
  • Emerald City (NBC)
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix)- Jan.
  • Black Sails (Starz)- Season 4 in 2017. Purchase on Amazon.
  • Legion (FX)-Feb... mutants, but looks interesting.
  • Star Trek Discovery (CBS All Access)- May Subscription? Hmm. $6 per month, no contract. Could be worth a look, but based on past track record of hits and misses, I'll plan on disappointment. Update: Netflix will release each episode of the series for streaming within 24 hours of its U.S. debut, but may not be available in the U.S. :(
  • Stranger Things (Netflix)- Season 2
  • Twin Peaks (Showtime)- Season 3. Don't see myself subscribing just for this.
  • American Gods (Starz)
  • Marvel's Iron Fist (Netflix)- Marvel mutant overload?
  • Powerless (NBC?)-Action comedy set in Marvel Universe.
  • Midnight, Texas (NBC)- by the author of the True Blood series, Charlaine Harris. Hopefully they won't butcher it too. May?
  • American Horror Story season 7- I don't watch.
  • Cormorant Strike Mysteries (BBC1)- Based on JK Rowling book. Not sure where to watch this in US, BBC America or maybe PBS.
  • Into the Badlands (AMC)- Season 2. Did not watch season one.
  • Inhumans (ABC)- Marvel Mutant overload? Fall 2017, This series to debut at Imax theaters, before appearing on ABC. Don't know if you have to watch the IMAX version to see the entire thing, which would be risky imo.

I just found a blurb on the Star Trek Discovery Wiki Page that says: Netflix will release each episode of the series for streaming within 24 hours of its U.S. debut. If accurate, good news!

Will that be Star Trek the whole series?

Black Sails is quite good. I think the final season is about to start airing soon.

As for Star Trek, I could be wrong, but I think the whole Netflix part of it is only for international users (while within US it would only be on CBS All Access).

I believe Legion is also something that's not on Netflix but will be on FX (unless it's similarly going to be available on Netflix for international users).

A bit surprised that some other shows like Humans aren't on such a list.

The excitement for me, is the creator (also exec producer and writing [at least the pilot]) Noah Hawley who was the creator/show runner for the fantastic Fargo TV series (also on FX).

It's also worth mentioning, the character was created by the incredible writing/artist team of Claremont and Sienkiewicz, and is actually (not saying specifics to avoid spoiling anything) part of the Marvel Universe (_not_ the MCU though :D)

This is somewhat off topic in this thread probably (and I think there are a few other threads that deal with these things more specifically too), but given all the licensing with different parts of Marvel properties, would anything X-Men related even be within the MCU universe these days?

You're totally right, X-Men (and Fantastic Four ...) is Fox, Avengers (and related solo characters) are Disney, Spiderman is/was Sony (though they released the rights to Disney). Hahaha, we even have/had that whole thing with characters like Quicksilver in both X-Men and MCU (Avengers), and they're not even allowed to refer to them as Mutants in MCU properties.

It's a new series that takes place about 10 years prior to the original series. Are you asking if the entire new series will be on Netflix or on CBS All Access? If I can believe the wiki page, yes, it will be on both, with a slight delay in appearing on Netflix (for international Netlfix subcribers only? :()

Thanks. I fixed Legion. And you may be right about Star Trek: Discovery may only be streamed on Netflix outside the U.S. :(

Some weeks ago (well around two months ago), by accident, with the TV on - which I rarely watch, and channel hopping, I caught the final episode (of three) of "Victorian Bakers" on the BBC.

This was stunning TV, but I had actually forgotten about it until I tripped over a special Christmas edition of "Victorian Bakers", which was also superb - public service broadcasting at its best, intelligent TV, that was entertaining, informative, educational, and absolutely fascinating.

Enter Mr Google, and I ordered the DVD from the BBC.

So, tonight, I have watched the first episode (of three) of the original series, and it was - as expected - quite outstanding.

And, I have now watched the second episode of "Victorian Bakers" (which takes the story of baking in the Victorian era to the 1870s-1880s, areas the first episode looked at how baking was carried out in what was then a largely rural society in the 1830s and 1840s.)

Superb TV, extraordinarily interesting, and intelligent TV, informative, entertaining - and educational. Brilliant and thought provoking, and beautifully told.
