Had a weird experience with Apple Support with my AirPods Pro 3. First of all, they keep saying "Parts mismatch, setup incomplete" no matter how many times I "forget" and pair them. Find My doesn't work with them, which is very important to me, so I was getting nervous. I haven't switched anything out; everything's genuine and direct from Apple. I do not have another Apple account, so they're not paired to anything but my account, and no one else uses them (ew).
I gave up trying to figure it out, so I talked to Apple via chat. They did the usual troubleshooting, then eventually referred me to an Apple Store. Since the nearest one is 4 hours from me, I told them that wasn't an option. Instead, they sent me to Best Buy. Confused, I made the appointment, went there, and they said "It's an account thing, there's nothing we can do. Talk to Apple." So that was pointless. Spoke with Apple AGAIN, and they said "Ok, we'll just replace them." "Great," I said. Then...
They put a hold of $300 on my account and said it's a "security hold" in case they don't receive the old pair. So obviously I have to mail the old ones back because they won't give a brand new pair to just anyone who says "Mine don't work, give me free ones!" Mailing them back is no big deal, but the pending charge of $300 is scary because it's a LOT of money to me (remember, fixed income). Currently waiting for the new pair to show up in the mail so I can mail out the old ones.
