On my mind today is....

Sometimes love isn’t about kindness, or anything emotional at all. Tough love is important for love to actually survive, if we want to grow in some relationships.
This is what separates teenage mental maturity from adult mental maturity. I use distinctive language because plenty of adults have the mental maturity of teenagers and the behavior to go with it.

@SoggyCheese wishing you all the best with this. Virtual hugs.

@Mefisto how are you feeling?

Me: Slightly procrastinating with med insurance paperwork, but it must be done to skip paying these bills (insurance pays them instead). Surprise med bill forms are your friends.

But I’d rather play with my imaginary friends I am still writing. ( *Pouts as I download the medical bill forms* )
So glad I’m in the UK with the NHS. Having spent three months in hospital with my daughter years ago, I’d probably be homeless!

[doublepost=1543361073][/doublepost]What’s on my mind? All sorts of negative stuff tonight I’m afraid. Need a major change of life. Just not happy where things are. On the surface it all looks so perfect. Decent income, holidays, lots of smiling photos my partner puts on FaceBook.
But in reality, things not good at all. It’s all a bag of crap. Need to be brave.

These are one of the most difficult situations in life. Everything seems to be ok, just don't scrape the surface.
I agree with you. It takes courage to leave the comfort of present and step on a new path.
I wish you luck.

Hmmm I am not sure where I am, as some of you may recall this has been a crappy two years for me - although I have really had some bright spots it has been sort of like diamonds against a backdrop of grey or dark grey. I am very grateful for the "diamonds" as it were but am still stuck in the dark grey (or brown?). What is astonishing is how many former colleagues (from my awful former employer), acquaintances and friends I have not seen in a long time tell me I look much better than I did at when I was at my old job.

Yeah, some suffering / transformation brings boys to men. They harden up. They look better then the boyish types ;)
Not sure what men says about women. Seems like women with strength can be scary for some men.
Could be the immature boyish types that always look for younger women they want to control o_O

I agree, not sure how that applies here because I meant I looked really stressed before, even my skin condition (eczema) was far worse before.

BTW I do like strong women. :)

Personal or professional?

Or just feeling stuck in a rut and want to try or do or experience something new?

While you may tell yourself that you wish to be embarking (or have embarked) on a different path by this time next year, - and, I suspect, for some on the forum from the US, the time around Thanksgiving - as it is a long holiday removed from the standard rhythms and cycles of everyday existence - may be a time to think and take stock of one's life - you also have to take the time to ask yourself what you really want, and what trade offs you are willing to make.

Yes, medical insurance stuff is insanely complicated; commiserations.

So glad I’m in the UK with the NHS. Having spent three months in hospital with my daughter years ago, I’d probably be homeless!

The crowning glory of the UK.

There is little so stressful as a job - even if exceptionally well remunerated - where the atmosphere is toxic.

Agree that this is not remotely good for your health.

Once, while working at one (particularly good, interesting, and well-paid) job, I came down with shingles because the atmosphere was so incredibly toxic. Over a quarter of us at my grade - which was well paid, interesting, graduate level work - left during the year I worked there.

I agree, not sure how that applies here because I meant I looked really stressed before, even my skin condition (eczema) was far worse before.

Strong women rock.

@Scepticalscribe hope mom improves. We’re impacted by damp weather too (not just joints, but mood).

Thinking about how I’d rather be sleeping. At least it is Wednesday though, and I was able to prep another two med insurance claims to complete after helping mom when I get home tonight. It will take a few days to get through all the claims and submit them as surprise bills but it is worth it since insurance pays those.

Thanks for your kind words.

Actually, she seems fine, though doubtless looking forward to snuggling up under the duvet when she is returned to her bed shortly.

(That requires a hoist and two people; she is not remotely mobile, and hasn't been for almost three years. Her room has an astonishing array of high end equipment - courtesy of the state; a proper hospital bed, - suitably disguised with wooden headboards and footboards - that can be raised or lowered electronically, in whole or in part, that comes complete with a control panel that would not be out of place on the Starship Enterprise; an elaborate and sophisticated air mattress, also electronically operated; and the hoist, which, likewise, is a serious piece of heavy metal equipment, electronically operated).

Anyway, I looked in on her while the carer was giving her lunch (pears, waffles, excellent Canadian maple syrup), and she burst out laughing, continuing to laugh helplessly.

So, she is fine, and actually in good form.

She always hated winter, and always suffered from "sad" - as do I. So, while I am not surprised that she is more lethargic and dopey in winter, I am also mindful of the direction of the trajectory she is on.

am I still on top?

As always, my friend, as always.

You never lost your grip on that top position.

If that were me I’d send off that stuff today (if you haven’t already).

@AngerDanger congrats.

Possibly this evening, after dinner (which I am about to contemplate cooking, and want to do that in a nice, calm, relaxed way).

No, I haven't done it already. Been busy reading.

Granted, usually, I do like to submit such things early, as it means that the terror of looming deadlines (or intermittent internet connections) do not become an issue of the sort that may give rise to stress.

@AngerDanger congrats.

Thank you. Sound advice, indeed, and now heeded.

Anyway, I now have the respective forms completed, and fully filled out.

Yes, agreed, this is something of a relief not to have to face into actually doing that task first thing tomorrow morning.

However, I'll sit on them overnight, and re-read them first thing in the morning, to see whether anything needs tweaking, or revising, or adding, whereupon I shall press "send".

Oh: Dinner was delicious.

Hoping I can return or exchange this iPad Pro at Best Buy between jobs this morning.

BTW safari and having to constantly upgrade software on my aging Mac and this iPP (amongst other bugs) in order for the 10.5 to connect and back up to my iMac, I’ve had it with iPads.

Now to go get ready.

Some people swear by them, but they don't much suit me, I must say.
