Christmas shopping is done. Yes,
My Christmas shopping for the most part is done. Oh how I love Amazon. Now I drive by the shopping centers and laugh as the masses jockey for parking spaces. No thanks.

Amazon has done pretty well by me over the years. Although I found the best deal on a couple of Apple Watches for my daughters at Target online on Black Friday.

One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year is to my SO - a decent cordless reciprocating saw for limbing trees and such where hand loppers are too little, and a chainsaw is too much.

The one she has (a B&D) just doesn’t perform well. I look forward to adding it to the ‘donate’ pile.

Any place but here or there....
Finally looked at new iPhones - might go to an 8. The X’s are too heavy, too big, more than I want to pay for an iPhone and those gestures, nope. Not ready for new gestures.

I was surprised to see how pricey an 8 256gb was (same as XR), a part of me does not want to trade in this 7+ so...I may wait. Only looking because we have to get mom off of Great (not) Call. They gouged her royally by going over her minute limit.

Another day, another conspiratorial water-based thread closed down. It's sad really; not only are they a lot of fun, but I fear the continued closing of the OP's threads might only bolster whatever batty narrative impels them to create so many.

Actually, I'm not sorry.

While I am fascinated by real science, and read fantasy (and science fiction fantasy) for pleasure and relaxation, I do wish to ensure that the distinction between the two is clearly marked, sign-posted and mapped, something not always evident from those threads.

It was obviously chocolate, anyway.

I maintain it was a zoomed in Mars bar with toffee. Or perhaps a cheeky custard cream with swirls of cinnamon.
[doublepost=1544137269][/doublepost]Damn it. Now I want a custard cream.

Obviously a fairly dark blend, probably 85-90% cacao, from beans growing on the southwest slope of Olympus Mons, most likely.

What's the triple point of raw cacao butter at 0.636 kPA of atmospheric pressure?

Really saddened to come back to this thread and read so many posts from the fascistic Martian-cheese-denial faction.

Look, if the moon has water, the cheese must be somewhere else!

Can rocket fuel melt cheese or not?

So, we have the cheese denial faction, and the ardent cocoa believers.

Not omitting the water deniers - among whom we will find the most passionate and adamant of heretics.

Indubitably, a profound schism truly worthy of and most fitting for the times in which we live..

Thinking about getting myself a new toilet for christmas :p my one is getting out dated. I wonder if i can get one where it plays theme song to Bonanza.. ;)

Seriously, thinking about the new year, I have so much birthdays in January, so I'm shopping for birthday presents for about 10 of my friends who's birthday's are within weeks of each other plus 3 of nieces. :( lol. Most likely get them itunes gift cards though.

I finished my Christmas shopping September/October, as that's when I usually get the specials. Christmas time some stores down here in Australia jack up their prices.
I can rest easy this month. :p

What I really like about this thread is that it's impossible for any post to be off-topic.

The title of the thread is inherently open-ended: any topic is appropriate.

It's like an all-you-can-eat buffet that's open 24 hours, every day, including holidays.

Unless you discuss moderation. Then you get 10 demerits.

That’s the THEORY, but I’m looking for convincing arguments that specifically refute my position that it isn’t.
The real question is how long it will take to sublimate away, leaving nothing but algal traces.

Certainly on the order of centuries, otherwise my Martian kelp farm wouldn’t be posting record profits. Fortunately the Reptilians have been helpful in suppressing those damned Aquatic rabble rousers claiming that Global Sublimation is a critical threat to the planet and their very survival.

Oh lordy no, our side-hustle is running massive kelp scrap incinerators to power our farming equipment, arms factories, and the premier Martian charitable organisation: the Haathi-Zuckerberg-Musk FFAWCRGAWLTACTSFO (Foundation For Aquatics Who Can’t Read Good And Would Like To Actually Contribute To Society For Once).
