So, this morning I was thinking about this video. Why? Well…… I must’ve left the door ajar while I was peeing, and my youngest feline, a black ultra-hyperactive feline kitten decided to run inside and jump right in the path of the urinary stream. The result? At 6:15 am I had to chase a running kitten throughout the house in order to clean her from my own pee. I swear, I had many many cats but I’ve never had such a crazy one. I captured her using food bait.

One of the jobs of kittens (and puppies, bear cubs, fox kits and all the rest) is to remind us that god has a sense of humour ...

Why do people go out and buy computers just to buy them? Especially computers that only partially work. I don't get it, it's like you're going to use it once and then it'll just be sitting on a shelf until you sell it off again. And for the ones that are only partially working, then you have to spend extra money, and do extra work to fix it. I don't know, I guess some people just love having stuff to fix, but why not just have something that works?

Some of those people just like to tinker with stuff....often they don't really need or expect these things to work since they already have enough functioning devices. Sometimes these things will get sold on to another person who think they'll tinker with the device and make it work.

Excellent news; the cheesemonger's son's football (soccer) team has qualified for the second round (from 64 teams down to 32) which shall take place tomorrow.
While the first day of the five-a-side football (soccer) competition comprised the group stage - where the teams were whittled down from 64 to 32, each team played three agmes, the second day's games were the knock-out stage.

And, there and then, alas, the cheesemonger's son's team was defeated by a goal to nil - although he (playing as goalie) had also made some excellent saves.

So, alas, no lingering for coffee and chat today.

Another time then.
Leaving around 2, so I’ll go pack in a bit. Car roof and windows open so I’m not stepping into a furnace. I could pre cool the car of course, but it should be fine.

Yes, another time.

The boy wanted to go home, and shower and change, and that was fine, his parents decided to drive him home; defeat is miserable, and I commiserated with him.

Hope you have a terrific time.

I'm in the market for a new keyboard, and I just can't figure out which one I need. I'm looking at two different models, a cheaper one, and a more expensive one. Three people I've talked to have recommended the more expensive one, and they're each making good points about this more expensive one, so I think that's the one I'll end up buying.

Although I do think I'm overthinking this just a little bit—Guitar Center said I could make a deposit right this minute and they'd ship it to the store for me to pick up. I spent basically all day yesterday (and many days prior) researching, so this is most definitely NOT an "impulse buy," but I honestly think that since this more expensive model is just flat out better, I should just stop waiting and buy it. So we'll see where this goes I guess. Part of me is thinking I should just drive back over this afternoon and pay the $2500 for the thing. The guy I talked to over there said I should get warranty on it, and if I happen to not like it for some reason, I can return it within 45 days.

So that's what's been on my mind for the past 24 hours basically.

I was reading this post thinking, "Oh, I wonder what computer keyboard he'll settle on". Then I got to the "$2500" and did a double-take, then recalibrated to "Oh, he means a piano keyboard". Sudden Context Switches can be disorienting.

Yes, a piano keyboard 😀

I'm not gonna go back today, now that I think about it, there're a couple people I should still talk to. Hopefully by Tuesday I'll have made some sort of decision, I can't let this drag out too much longer...

Yes, agreed:

I think that it would have been a very good idea if the nature of the keyboard had been clarified - or, at least, explained - to readers of what is, after all, mostly a site dedicated to discussion of matters tech, and thus, they would most likely assume that a "keyboard" refers to what you type on when using a computer for writing, rather than the keyboard of a musical instrument, such as a pianoforte, or harpsichord, or church organ.

Still thinking on it, I'm going to talk to some other people tomorrow just to be sure, but I think I'm pretty much settled on the CP88. My hope is that the rep I talked to today will be there Tuesday, because that's when I'm planning to come back to buy it.
Reading your post, one might make the assumption that the price of the keyboard was of greater concern than clarifying the exact nature of the keyboard in question, which, given that this site is a tech site, would also lead readers to conclude that one meant a computer keyboard, and not that of a musical instrument such as a pianoforte, harpischord, or church organ.

When participating in online forums, yes, it is a good idea to be sure that one is communicating effectively, especially when something being mentioned or noticed is actually out of the customary and expected context, and/or even is something which would actually be unfamiliar to many people, and therefore needs a bit of clarification along with including it into whatever discussion or topic the general thread is about.

An example of this would be a post I wrote a few days ago in response to one of the images posted on the POTD thread; I noticed something in particular that I realized most other viewers would also possibly spot but not have any idea about what they were seeing, and so in my post I mentioned what I had spotted and then went on to describe what it was and why I had noticed it in the first place. Hopefully that was helpful and informative to some participants in the thread, and I know from his response that it was useful information to the person who had posted the image.

Bottom line: as has already been mentioned here but which I am reiterating is that what seems an everyday part of our own lives, interests and challenges is not necessarily going to be that of other people. From time to time while writing about some aspect of our lives in an online forum it is rather important when contributing to the general conversation to put things into more specific context as needed, and possibly further in some situations provide more information in addition.

To reduce it to its essence: Which matters more as something of importance re communication - which is more important - the price of the keyboard (which was what your post emphasised) or, the nature of the keyboard (tech keyboard or that of a musical instrument) - which your post did not make clear.

Anyway, for music, the answer is to buy the best (version of the) instrument that you can afford.

Buy cheap buy twice. YMMV of course.

That's exactly what I'm worried about, is cheaping out on it. So therefore it's a very simple solution. And I'm selling off my old units to a nonprofit music program, so I feel very good about that, that they're not just going to some music store or something.

You need to live with your decisions more than anyone else. Do what you like, what brings you joy and treat yourself.

But who am I kidding, I struggle with the treating myself aspect at times.

We did thank you. When my second friend turned up (eventually!) we went out for an Indian. They both ordered too much food. But there you go.
Lovely warm evening here. About 10 mile walk planned tomorrow starting in Oxford.
An Indian?

Wonderful.

Hope that the three of you enjoyed it - and possibly washed it down with a beer or two (for beers go very well with Asian food, far better than wine, in my view).

Starting a walk from Oxford, tomorrow?

Start early, take plenty of breaks, hydrate, and take it easy; above all, enjoy yourselves.

For what really matters to you, that brings lots of joy and evolvement where you are heading, live like a billionaire. For things you don't care much about, live like a poor patch.
Invest where your heart is, and let the rest take care of itself. Because it does.

Edit: save money, don’t use payments and bad loans that a adds to the costs. Unless you invest in new homes, then have a bank that know they can trust you.

As you are a adolescent, maybe ask your parents for advise?

LOL....well I can understand that your own context might be focused on computer equipment, but given rm5's history of posts about his music interests and the instrument he plays plus the mention of the Guitar Center in his post, I'm amused that anybody would have thought he was referring to anything other than a, um, keyboard
