I just saw the new Mission Impossible movie and really loved it. I also liked the new Top Gun movie so I think I like everything Tom Cruise does these days.

Seeing it tomorrow, watched MI5 and MI6 earlier this week

I saw Mission Impossible yesterday, and I liked it too! Didn't like Top Gun though, it was too loud for me
I think that we may have discussed this before, but, have you ever watched The Third Man?

Amazing setting (shot in postwar Vienna), story, (written by Graham Greene), excellent story, superb script, outstanding cast, haunting (and brilliant) cinematography, and unforgettable music.

An impressive (I thought it excellent, and very intelligent) fairly modern American movie that I would also recommend is Lone Star which is directed by John Sayles. (The music/soundtrack on that is great, as well).

Thinking about why I just spent over an hour and a half talking (on the phone) to the most complacent (and quite rude) person I've ever met. For one reason or another, I allowed that to happen, and it's just put me in a bad mood. A great example of a time where setting some boundaries might've been a good idea...

What makes this person so "special" and deserving of my attention for so long, I have no idea. Think about the countless other things I could have done with that time that would have brought me joy, not made me frustrated. Well, there's an hour and a half I will never get back...

No, I haven't, and I really need to!

Mulberry trees, and mulberries.

Today, for the first time in my life, I tried, tasted (and devoured) a bowl of (freshly picked) mulberries. Yum.
Growing up, there used to be mulberries at the grocery store. I don’t think there are now. We have a mulberry tree in our front yard that I have been considering cutting down, because there is an annual event in the Spring where our cars in the driveway, get **** bombed multiple times day after day by birds that have gorged themselves on them. I’ve also read that because of the associated mess municipalities specifically avoid planting them on city streets. What I don’t know is if this tree was native or planted by a former owner. By it’s grouping with a large oak, it might have been on the lot when the neighborhood was built about 40 years ago, but maybe not. In the States, the Red Mulberry is considered native from Texas north to Iowa and to the Coast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morus_rubra

My idea of hell. Here it’s very windy. Some sun. Some light rain.
In other words a typical British summer!
But a pleasant 22 degrees. Much better than the 40 degrees they have in other parts of Europe right now.
It was over 45C yesterday at times; one of my colleagues reported experiencing 48C.

A wall of (stifling) heat (rather than mere warmth) immediately engulfs you when you head out to the car (from whatever airconditioned building where you have been holding meetings).

Car handles burn your hand when you reach to open the door; the driver asks you to wait, while he attempts to cool the car down before you get in; the water bottles he has put out for you are already tepid.

Grim. One of the nice features of my i3. You just tell it what time you are leaving and it cools or warms the car as required. Very nice feature.
Stay hydrated.

I have to say that my driver has been very thoughtful and protective, and careful.

This heat - and, in general, I love heat - is punishing.

It is already 28C at 6.00 in the morning.

Countries where the season of high summer means that it is already 28C at six o'clock in the morning.
Since June we (East Texas) have been running mid 90s to low 100sF (32-40C) With lows of 85F (29C) at night. A high pressure dome of heat parked over the Central US bringing no rain for several weeks and high temps. Comparing F to C, I prefer the spread of F over C, but not said to start anything. :)

We got up to 104 yesterday, that was just ridiculous! Actually, the gig I was supposed to play yesterday was canceled because of the heat. But nothing compared to what @Scepticalscribe is talking about

The thing is, I rather like heat (although not to this extent). And I loathe the cold.

And I tend to acclimatise, almost without knowing it.

Thus, when I return home shortly - where I shall face a drop of over 20C - I shall shiver and feel as though I am freezing.

Don't worry: This is one thing I am quite methodical and careful about: In fact, in recent weeks, I have been consuming between three and four litres of water a day.

Fortunately, it is a dry heat.

That is hot as heck for temperature. Got up to 98 today. I thought we had it bad.

I love the cold. Though I was born in a warm area. Which is weird.
