Having a wash your hands habit is great, but hand sanitizer is the real deal to avoid getting sick - I learned that in athletics where 'everybody' use it.
The pandemic raised the awareness of it and it was more or less sold-out and empty in all stores quite a lot during the beginning of the pandemic.

Fortunately I had it stocked up, as always. It's cheap too. 😁

Not exactly

Hand sanitizer [at best] is just an anti-bacterial agent. Most of the respiratory diseases (cold, COVID, flu) that people worry about are viruses. Antibacterial agents have NO effect on viruses. Washing your hands does work, but only if you wash them thoroughly and you wash them with soap. It is critical that you use soap. Just rinsing your hands with water is ineffective.

There is lots of money being made with people selling hand sanitizer when, in reality, what people really need is hand soap

I agree hand washing is best. But hand sanitizer is a good option when you are not able to get to a sink.
Well given how rarely I’ve been sick, it’s obviously working for me.

We live in different countries! Speak for where you live.

Here in Sweden our hand sanitizer is effective against viruses as well as bacteria, yeast and mycobacteria. We have excellent health awareness in my country.

Maybe verses bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycobacteria but from what I understand about viruses the are really very hard to kill. The most common treatments captures and allows them to be collected, isolated or relocated. Any treatment I know of that actually destroys viruses (very high heat, high level of ionizing radiation, strong chemical reduction agents, high pressure) are things you do not want to expose skin to.

A hand cleanser effectiveness against viruses is not related to it being a sanitizer that actually kills viruses. While anti-bacterial agents are effective against bacteria, there are other problems with their widespread use. Specifically, the potential of bacteria developing resistance to these agents. Usually it’s better to either wash them or gather them up and move them away than try to destroy them outright unless you’re combating an active infection.

Just trying to save you a bit. A hand cleanser will be just as effective and significantly cheaper than hand sanitizer.

In a coffee shop.
I was almost out of organic milk, hence a dash to the local shop to collect the organic milk they put aside for me each week.

I also confirmed that the cheesemonger's have put aside organic cream for me.

However, I had run out of beer, hence a fleeting visit to a local shop/store, which also serves as a off-licence,
(and which has stocked a great many excellent beers on my recommendation) to replenish my beer supply.

Thus, I am awaiting a delivery of beer, which probably won't arrive until tomorrow morning at some ungodly hour.

Ah well, we have different sorts. I just copy/pasted the translation for what I use daily.
But I am the sporty, vegan and very health aware type, that even studied some alternative medicine and learned plenty around herbs and a lot of natural healing arts early on.

There are stronger stuff to buy of hand sanitizer too for those who are in need of it:

For example: a 75% hand sanitizer with two non-sticky moisturizing agents. Kills coronavirus, flu virus, many other viruses as well as bacteria, yeast and mycobacteria. 500 ml bottle - perfect for the home or workplace!

Hand washing is good, but...
most people don't know how to wash their hands properly.
Surgeons get taught, but not other medical professionals.
I remember reading an article by a pathologist who was at conference of pathologists. He noted that few other professional pathologists (these are people who work with germs every day) washed their hands properly in the washroom after going to the toilet.
Here in Aus. we actually had signs up in the washrooms during COVID showing people how to wash their hands properly.

I used to watch the surgeons scrub up. I learned from them. Sure is longer than the wash timer on the Watch. :)

First have a bunch of organic milk and cream, then a nice beer 🍺 sounds good

But

First have a bunch of nice beers 🍻 then …. Don’t need anything else you just fell good 😊

The organic milk (and, to a lesser extent, the organic cream) tend to be used with coffee, (and sometimes, the cream especially, are used when preparing certain specific dishes).

Unless I am drinking an actual espresso, I rarely take my coffee black (especially as I like in a part of the world with good quality dairy products; when I work abroad, sometimes, it is not possible to obtain decent quality milk, or dairy; then, I simply do without).

So, coffee first - coffee is an irreplaceable, non-negotiable, part of my day), and sipping and savouring some beer (or wine) later, but not every day.

Saw this picture today. Lauren Bacall was definitely one of the most beautiful women that I’ve ever seen. She was pure class without ever a need for being vulgar.

Lauren's sort of beauty is timeless. Until today women as beautiful as her are box office draws.

Transport her from black & white era to the 8K resolution era and no one would doubt as to why she gets top billing.

She looks similarly to the gorgeous Lauren German.

To be honest I’m just grateful if I see men use the sink at all after going to the toilet! To be honest you see at lot less walkers what we call those who just walk off without washing their hands) these days.

That moment when you realize that OCD is good for you.

It really isn’t. I had a colleague who completely destroyed the skin on his hands by washing them too long as a result of Covid. He would be washing them for 30 minutes at a time.
Before Covid he didn’t suffer from OCD at all.

30 min is definitely an extreme, I had 5-10 min in mind for an average person(not a medical professional).

A university classmate once told me (with appalled horror) of how he had personally witnessed a professor who had taught us both being a 'walker'.

Since then, I must admit that I found myself quite unable to forget this fact whenever that particular individual came up in conversation.

All this talk about sanitation’s made me remember that I haven’t been so regular with my nasal irrigation recently which is part of every yogi's life. It expands and opens up the breathing wonderfully.
