That sounds good! I’ll make a list!

Then, there are also "gambas" (prawns sautéed with garlic or chilli), and croquette style dishes (which can be delicious). The olives will also be superb.

Other Brother advised me to order 'raciones' (rations) rather than tapas, if they are available; they are larger helpings than tapas (and better value), and it may make sense to share a few of them when out with a group of people.

Any place but here or there....
I need sleep...tripped up on two work requests from yesterday. But at least I resolved both...

Still...

This morning went mostly quite well* and ended with the manager saying “We hope will see you again soon.” :) I hope so. I just did not stand up to shake the director’s hand. Ugh.

*Except for transit going in. Taxi Cab ripped me off a couple of dollars by forcing me to charge the ride and secretly adding a rather large tip. This is why I hate using debit cards for anything except online purchases.

Kidding.

No, really. Kidding, no kidding!

It’s that time of the year, at least on the farm where I live, for goat kids to be born.

My SO has a herd of about 30 fainting goats, and we’re in the thick of it.

I find these odd little creatures quite appealing. This one is less than a day old.

Well, I can only wish you the very best of luck with the interview and I really hope that it turns out well for you.

Me too. Thank you very much.

It would be very busy (I do not mind that at all), but much better people, hours and benefits. Lots of perks at that firm too.

I hope you are doing well and happy Friday to you and everyone in this thread. Unless of course, it’s already Saturday. Then happy weekend:)

@Matz awwwww! Thanks for kidding- sharing those pictures of the adorable kids.

Fatten it up for 3-4 months and slaughter it. Delicious.

Currently deciding whether to run to the green grocers and pickup such essentials as we'll be experiencing rain for several days.

I wonder how pet groomers feel being viewed by animals as the equivalent of the dentist office.

The girls have a “spa” day today. They figured out what that word means so I’m mixing it up on them. I told them they are having mammograms instead and their tails are wiggly.

Hah, no matter what I told my cats when they had any occasion to travel, their reaction was always the same: "we're going to die". I tried to make vet appointments for them on different days. That way I could set just one open cat carrier in the bathtub... and brazenly ambush whichever cat's turn it was about an hour before time. I'd enclose us both in the bathroom where there were no handy queen sized beds or low-clearance map chests to hide under.

After the first couple times of being fooled like that they didn't try to fight me once I got us both enclosed in a small room... cats don't like losing dignity. They both always acted like "Well I was going to get in there anyway." Right. Like I never had to call a vet and cancel an appointment because the patient was up in the deck rafters.

The French family I stayed with as a teenager and undergrad had a cat. They also had a beautiful apartment on the Île de la Cité in the centre of medieval Paris, around the corner from Notre Dame Cathedral, and a country house approximately half an hour by car from Chartres where they often spent the week-end.

The cat loved the country house (and its surrounding grounds and gardens) and would invariably discreetly disappear or vanish around an hour before the family was due to depart on the return trip to Paris on Sunday evening.

I vividly remember one occasion when I visited, when late Sunday afternoon rolled around, a hunt for the cat took place. Eventually, the cat broke cover, and raced across the garden, arriving at a tree which it climbed effortlessly, the family chasing in hot and bad-tempered pursuit.

From a high perch, the cat calmly watched the cursing family's attempts to climb up after it. It then crept out to a branch and turned - with infuriating calm - to watch the inept pursuit. They attempted to follow, clambering up the tree, shouting at one another and the cat. As they approached it, the cat coolly moved out further - where it couldn't be reached and where the weight of the branch wouldn't support a pursuing human.

There was a stalemate, with the family flailing, trying to reach to grab the cat, failing miserably, but still shouting at it. Then, with extraordinary sang-froid, and a display of cool athleticism the cat leapt almost balletically from the branch into the open window of a bedroom nearby.

The family roared, and tried to tumble down the tree in a heap of huddled humans, whereupon they dashed into the house and raced up the stairs.

I was trying hard to contain my laughter - I was helpless with laughter watching this - it was one of the funniest things I had seen, pure French farce. Of course, eventually they managed to catch or capture the cat, and put it in its travelling basket, but they assured me that this farce played out every Sunday whenever they were about to return to Paris.

Once they took the decision to depart without the cat, as they were unable to locate it in time, and drove off, circling the village, but had immediately decided to double back, whereupon they found that the animal had emerged from hiding and was calmly sitting at the entrance to their house, thinking it had fooled them.

@Scepticalscribe thanks for sharing that story. I love cats.

What's on my mind?

Food. Lots of it. :)

Finally going to start eating now (Have to wait an hour after drinking wheatgrass - though all the good that's going to do with what I put in my tummy). :p

It was comedy gold played out in real, life, full of Gallic fury, and very, very funny to observe.

The carer's friend, having prepared her legendary noodle dish, has just dropped over some for me. Yum.

Had a call from my friend about meeting up for dinner tomorrow night. I said I’d check out some venues for them as I’ll be there earlier. Maybe we’ll just eat at the hotel on day one.

Also tonight’s football is very much on my mind.

I started thinking about lots of food today as soon as @Scepticalscribe mentioned she was thinking about a late lunch. Of course on this side of the pond it was more like midmorning but damn if I didn't figure an early lunch sounded like a far better idea to me. I am incorrigible.

Well, as the carer's friend had shown up to do a spot of cleaning, and was busy attending to the kitchen when I returned from the farmers' market (laden with cheeses, organic fruit and vegetables, organic free range eggs, wild garlic pesto, homemade jam with a very big fruit content, and bread and pain au raisin from the French bakery where they were teasing me), lunch didn't happen.

And neither did the cooking I had planned, as the carer's friend subsequently texted me with the instruction not to cook anything, as she was preparing her legendary noodle dish and was going to dispatch a helping of this culinary delight over to me.

So, I am now fed, with Filipina noodles. Sigh.
