Using a laptop screen even for a few hours kills my neck. I rarely use one. If you do go down this route I’d recommend a laptop riser and separate keyboard and mouse.
Ever since my mid-2012 MacBook Pro with quad-core i7, I use a laptop cooler and the current one has feet in the back, along with the three fans. My display is only slightly lower than the displays I used at work, which is fine. Latest Window machine has lift in the back, as well.

I'm looking forward to my root canal tomorrow, hoping that everything will be better eventually.

Any advice on how to do this regarding a mother-in-law. 😂
Not really. Mine died of leukaemia in her early 50’s.
In terms of family though I’m only in touch with my parents. Everyone else I haven’t spoken to or seen in decades.
I don’t live in the same part of the world as they do (well presumably as I guess they might have moved). So once I moved out of home as a teenager I never really had any need to see them again.

This is something I've never experienced before. I'd just finished a rehearsal when everyone's phone came on with the EAS tone. Then I ran as fast as I could back to my dorm—when I left the conservatory, it was completely dry, and by the time I crossed the intersection of Lawe St. and College Ave. (which was about a minute in), it was a complete downpour. I was out in it for a total of 3 minutes. Made it safely though.

Wow, glad you got back OK. I got soaked coming back by bike in a sudden thunderstorm on Monday.

Seeing the tornado devastation on the news brought back some memories. It's May and that green-tinged sky is so ugly, but you know to go to safety, preferably underground.

The malls I saw around Arkansas and Oklahoma had tornado shelters but what happens when your home is completely demolished, even though you're safe?

This is something I can safely say I have NEVER said! 🤣 I hope all went well for you.
They apparently didn't have that much to do. I haven't noticed any pain since the anesthesia wore off but I have a fair amount of pain every day. Just in case, I made tofu jjigae for my meal, without any crunchy stuff.

I'm surprised about how easy the dentist visits are. I had a horrible second dentist back when I was 6-8 years old. He later went to prison for Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

I have a deep cleaning on Friday, so I'm getting a lot of dental work out of the way lately.

Some years ago, we bought a new fridge. The previous one wasn't keeping its cold, and it turned out to be rusted through in vital parts, so unrepairable.

The new fridge has been working well, except for occasions when there was a random buzzing. Opening the door to investigate the buzzing made it stop. This was a buzzing that didn't want to be found...

Jiggled multiple things, re-arranged bottles so they didn't touch each other, to no avail.
What did work, sometimes, was shifting the fridge around a bit. The noise would go away, then come back.

Finally, Oh Frabjous Day. Found it!!! It was the little tray for cold meats and the like. When it was empty, it would rattle. When it had stuff in it, it wouldn't.

Vegemite to the rescue. No rattle, buzzing, or other noises.

I heard that Vegemite was good for fixing roads, as well.

Early morning walk. It’s much sunnier than forecast today. Some gardening later. But I’ll still be taking it easy as I’m not 100% right in my neck still. Probably 90% there though.

Three day weekend which is nice. Why can’t they all be like that?

Still 27º here in Perth, Australia. Looks like we're going to get some rain! Rain comes in here, in troughs from the west. Sometimes very heavy, with thunder storms, sometimes just heavy. Then you hear the sirens of emergency vehicles, as the roads are like ice rinks (months of scorching hot weather, lay's down a bed of rubber) and the drivers here can't drive carefully.
Still, BBQ about to be fired up, and a nice 'tomohawk' to cook, alas without any alcohol, as gave that up 3 months ago.

Week 3 of persistent horrible cough despite 5 days of antibiotics. Getting a little concerned, and remembering all the second-hand smoke from my chain-smoking father that I inhaled as a kid. He didn't know then (1960's-1970's) what we know now, but honestly at times it was like being gassed.

Lots of nasty respiratory diseases going around lately, so we had this year's flu shots last week.
But, something still managed to slip through -- sinuses blocked up and hurting, etc. But not to worry, cold tablets at hand. Not that they cure a cold, but if you take enough, you stop worrying about anything...

Short on work hours lately. Since I'm paid by working hourly, 13.5 hours per week isn't enough, especially two weeks in a row. Next week, she had me down for 8.5 hours for the week but added four hours at 1.5x for Memorial Day.

If this continues before Social Security payments begin, I could be homeless again.

Sorry to hear that. Time to find more regular work maybe?

Coldest Spring I can remember. Evidently that's one of the reasons for all of the violent weather in the Midwest - collision between our cold and Gulf of Mexico record heat. Only need to run the A/C a few hours in the morning in room with east facing windows. Even had a little drizzle yesterday. U.S. West coast.

That’s horrible. I hope things get better for you soon.

I’m having a tough time with fatigue and trying to finish rebuilding my fitness. My motivation is slipping a bit. It doesn’t help that winter is here either.

The training is very tough and it leaves me wrecked, trying to fit that around work is difficult.

Being better in the end is the main goal. Concentrate on the outcome. You will succeed.
