I try not to let stupid online **** ruin my day, but people threatening to leak my personal information did ruin it. I would assume it was a horrible attempt at a joke, because obviously they don't have any information to leak. Still deeply unsettling.

On a completely different note, I plan to pick up my 16 Pro on Saturday--should be a decent upgrade!

Feeling a little down today because of my eyes. I have keratoconus which means my cornea isn't shaped the way it should be and as a result I see double/triple vision with blur, lots of ghosting, starbursts etc.. This was only diagnosed a few years ago and prior to that I had excellent vision. I just miss being able to look at computer screens without seeing a myriad of issues. I know it's not a big deal when you compare it to virtually any other disease, but sadly it has reduced my quality of life greatly. Could be worse, I just have to remember that.

Someone's threatening to dox you? Sorry to hear that man, that's just terrible. Always use different usernames with different emails on different forms/websites if you're ever concerned abut privacy. Use different passwords too, not just for security reasons, but also harder to tie back to your identity if there's ever a data breach and you're caught using the same (hashed) passwords.

Congrats on the new iPhone 16 pro! I have a Pixel 8 myself (coming from 14 PM) and I love it, but there's no doubt the battery life will be much better on 16 Pro.

Not a big deal, you say? Don't downplay stuff like that. I learned that a LONG time ago. If it makes your life worse, that's a VERY big deal. I hope you have people around to help and support you (which, although I'm physically far away, you always have my support). I've still figured out how to live "normally," but some stuff is just really hard. And yeah, that's the thing I always remember, too - it could be worse. Fortunately most (I say most with intention and emphasis) of my eye issues were treated with about 7 surgeries when I was little.

Thankfully I can say my health has improved (in baby steps) throughout the last few years. I stopped twice-daily budesonide/albuterol (yes, a mix - it was torture) nebulizer treatment last year. At the same time though, some stuff'll never change - I still, and likely always will, struggle to talk. And I still struggle to do certain things like unclipping stuff or putting keys on a keychain. Among many other things.

Yup!! I ALWAYS use different passwords, it's saved me plenty of times. Since this is on Discord though, I can't exactly separate things.

EDIT: Oh! Forgot about the 16 Pro! Yeah, I haven't picked it up just yet, probably on Saturday, but I can't wait! I say "probably" because idk if the store will have them in stock. If they don't I'll have to order it. I don't use my phone all that much, but coming from an 11 Pro is going to be a huge upgrade.

My right thumb badly hurt, and wrist.
I got a new Mtb bike, rode it Monday at a trail I’ve ridden 60+ times. 15.8 miles into 16 mile ride just clip a tree on right bar, OTB I went . My bad at not cutting it to same width as other 2 bikes.
12mm extra is huge and yea.

I meant to reply to this when I initially read it but got side tracked. Thank you @rm5, I really appreciated this response.

In a coffee shop.
Hopefully not where you are? Stay safe.

On my mind is my electric blanket that I just switched on. Today was the day we put it on the bed for the first time this autumn/winter. When will it be spring again?
Not where I am, but not all that far from it, either.

Had a five hour round trip earlier today - to give a briefing; luckily, we weren't affected by weather conditions, though colleagues, elsewhere in the country, were.

Good grief, yes fall is here - the (in) famous "bise", from the French word for kiss, is here. It's a strong wind from the Geneva Lake usually in early sping and less often in fall and winter. Nonetheless it is bringing temperatures down. Plus the equinox completely slipped my mind though I have been noticing the days getting shorter.

Oh, gosh, yes.

My constant (and cherished) companion throughout the winter months.

A day that is always worth noting...
When will it be spring again?
A question I ask myself constantly - unless, I am abroad at the time, as I am now - after the autumnal equinox (certainly, after the clocks go back) until spring arrives.

Was talking to a friend earlier who's in the "classical piano" domain (taking lessons with a "classical teacher," etc.). We were sharing what classes we're taking and such, and how different his requirements are from mine. I explained how much I hate the term "classical teacher," and why we can't all just be musicians, irrespective of genre or tradition. Sure, you perform in a genre (or several), but why can't the systems agree? Classical and non-classical music still seem so divided to me. Here at my university, they've taken steps to integrate the two (having one of the orchestras perform improvised music, for instance).

So not talking about here specifically, but I do feel more attention to this needs to be paid in the wider musical community. A Bachelor of Music degree almost universally screams "CLASSICAL!" And not many people seem to recognize the influences of traditional classical music in modern stuff. The AP Music Theory exam is entirely based off of 18th century systems. I'm not saying any of that is bad, but it's just interesting to me. Anyway, he seemed to agree, which I honestly appreciate.

On one hand, if the classical approach helps people to recognize the influences of classical music in modern stuff, that would be a plus in my opinion. On the other hand, if that same classical teaching leads to elitism amongst musicians, that would be a minus in my opinion.
Either way, it sounds like you had a positive exchange of ideas with your classical friend, glad to hear that.

Interesting take, honestly lost touch with your side of music (artist rather than enjoyer) since high school band - yes I played tombone and baritone and no haven't touched any since then
