Thinking about turning 20 today 🎂

It was nice to have already received several birthday wishes just this morning. Reminds me that I have good people in my life. :)

And no, I won't act like 20 is old, I know it's not, but still, two decades of me  That's a lot of time.
All the best. Enjoy your big day. Time moves quickly so enjoy every day.

Happy Birthday, @VisceralRealist, and I hope that you have a lovely day.

Twenty is a nice age - one is out of the dreaded teenage years with much to look forward to.

Getting ready for a massive performance with all 17 large ensembles next weekend! Rehearsals start tomorrow, but since we have to have the music 100% together, tight, and memorized BEFORE Saturday, I've already started to learn it. Pretty difficult actually, but a fun challenge!

20 years is actually a long part of anybody's life.....so have fun celebrating that you've survived it all

I’m mostly better except for a bad lingering cough. That’ll make singing… interesting tomorrow.

Still doubling a surgical mask with an N95 anytime I go out, and getting my food in a box.

Feeling sad. Really missing my friends from college lately. It's always hardest when I dream of hanging out with them and wake up to find them still gone. So hard to reconnect when they've all moved away. Just gotta try to focus on my work and keep my mind off of it.

Take care, stay cautious, and get well. Re: food do you get "take out" from the cafeteria when you say in a box?

That's rough, my experience has been similar as I moved around during college (across the Atlantic!). Try to use modern tech and keep in touch. Fall 2023 I met some college friends and acquaintances for an alumni meet-up.

Hello again, any hints on where? I am dreaming of sun and warmth as we have intense rain here this week. Recalling my summer trip to Portugal. ☀️
A week in London later this month and hopefully somewhere interesting and warmish in March.

Yes, that’s what I meant! I just hate that word “take-out” (probably better posted in the dedicated thread, but anyway). You pay $10 once, then subsequent boxes are free for the rest of the year (they’re recyclable/reusable).

What brand/model is it? Yamaha? Steinway? Mason and Hamlin? Good grand pianos can fetch a LOT - I mean a LOT of money. I happen to just have a Yamaha upright back home, so nothing particularly fancy. University has mostly Steinway model Ms and a few Yamaha C7s, and of course Model Ds on the stages.

The middle one is the sostenuto pedal. Notes played before pressing it will sustain, subsequent notes will not.

Yamaha. I swear she never used the middle peddle therefore she needs to reimburse me for 1/3 of the original price. 😠

In a coffee shop.
Visited a few vineyards, treated my staff to a long, lingering, (exceedingly good) lunch, and sampled some seriously good locally produced wine.

Was given a pomegranate that had just been plucked from a tree (in front of my awestruck, bespectacled, eyes) ........this is close to some sort of heavenly bliss.

Sounds good. I’m concerned for your driver though. Did he get to sample the wine? Stay safe! Don’t hurry back. It’s cold wet and miserable here…..

It was brilliant.

No.

He was very professional and abstemious; not a drop passed his lips for the past five weeks he as worked for me, although he did say that he would love to join me - someday - for a social glass of wine when he is not driving me around to various destinations.

Actually, he is excellent - and has shown superb judgment behind the wheel. Our interpreter is excellent and very experienced as well.

There is a theory that the fruit Eve picked from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden was actually a pomegranate. The whole apple idea is a translation misinterpretation.

Saying goodbye to an old friend. I've been an audiophile since 1979, and have always had a paper subscription to Stereo Review, later Sound & Vision. Well, got my last issue today, they're closing shop completely.
Yeah, its just a paper magazine, but one of the few things that's been with me all these years; has me just a wee despondent.
