In a coffee shop.
Stay safe!
Thank you.
Don’t hurry back.
No, I'd happily linger here for another month or two.

I like the Balkans, like the people, the food, the wine, the culture, the history, the climate.......
It’s cold wet and miserable here…..
I have been reading about it and wincing, telling my staff today (during lunch) that, on my return, I will look back on this time - when the rain is lashing down and the skies are bleak, dark and threatening, and the temperature is miserable and cold - with longing and pleasure.

Today, it was 23C, and sunny.....bliss.

Actually, perfect.

Got my 16 Pro today, which is great! It certainly won't be leaving my dorm room anytime soon though, because I don't have a screen protector or a case for it yet. Packaged my old phone in the box, and applied the shipping label, so I'll give that to the mailroom when I go get dinner. Just ordered a case/screen protector from UAG, and paid the astonishing premium of $50 for overnight shipping.

At the moment it's around 23C here in Los Angeles.

I'm wondering if I'll go sailing again this coming weekend. The local weather forecast suggests it'll be 29C or more, but the wind off the ocean will be cooler so jackets will be necessary if we go

Indeed, there may be a significant reason to confuse apples and pomegranates. Just as Eve was painted as gullible to be influenced by the snake (hmmm interesting symbol?) and deceitful and seductive in convincing Adam to eat of the fruit as well.

I need to stop reading comments under news articles, the level of ignorance and frankly vile commentary is bad for my mental health.

I say just get off all social media for a day, or a week, or however long you feel is appropriate.

I find the things that frustrate me most can be easily solved by just not looking at social media. Sure, there are frustrating things in the real world, but I'd say the majority of that is actually on social media.

On that topic, since it literally just happened, I find it very annoying when someone posts (on any social media platform) about something very personal, but are very vague about it. To my mind, that just means you're actually very uncomfortable sharing it, but you do it anyway. I mean look, I'm guilty of this, so I'm not saying I've never done it myself.

There are two problems:
  1. Why share it publicly, and then be vague? People with no context will not know what you're talking about, how bad (or I guess good, but usually the other way around) the situation was, nor will they sympathize (if that's the intended outcome) because they don't know what you're talking about.
  2. Like I said, to me, being vague about stuff like that just means that you really shouldn't be sharing it at all. Look, it's okay to not share EVERYTHING!
So, either don't share that stuff at all, or only share with close friends (Instagram), or make it explicitly clear what you're talking about.

I often feel pressured to share things I'm uncomfortable sharing, and I can say, NOTHING good has ever come out of that.

I'm fascinated at the thought of how - and why - such a change (or misinterpretation?) actually came about.

One theory is that it may have arisen as a pun, because in Latin the word for "evil" and "apple" are homophonous and differ only in vowel length, malum vs. mālum. In either case, the Hebrew word used ("peri") just means "fruit", so what specific fruit was intended, if any, will always be up for interpretation.

Quite annoyed and a smidge discouraged that two jobs I recently applied for contacted me and said "Download the Signal app to speak with HR about an interview..."

my view of that sort of post is different.....I tend to suspect it's an attempt to get attention

What I find charmingly amusing is when someone goes on and on in a post, stamping their feet and holding their breath, about how they are fed up and leaving for good. Only to continue posting. 😂

Sure, but this comes from reading news articles on serious news websites like local newspapers. Not all news sites have comment sections though the social media pages of say the BBC, France Info etc. do.

So I can easily read the articles say on the Tribune de Geneve without opening the comments and losing braincells.

The only comments sections I open are those regarding film or album reviews. I know that the comments from news articles will either mirror my views or be opposed. Whereas the comments following music or film articles often are funny, insightful or offer a personal story.

On my mind is the weather. I (like most people in the UK) like to moan about the weather. But the people about to lose their homes or worse, it must be super scary.

Stay safe everyone.
Indeed.

I am lucky enough to not live in a disaster-prone area, but I have friends in the affected areas.
