One email: “Subscribe to Apple TV+!”

Another email: “Subscribe to Apple Arcade!”

A third email: “Subscribe to Apple Music!”

You know what, Apple? You can **** right off. So sick of useless marketing emails, especially right after I get a new device. Me getting a new phone does NOT mean I’ll subscribe. Sorry if you think that.

Decided to leave all my discord servers. I’m still on the platform, but not in any servers anymore. Felt like all the bad stuff going on in many of them had started to crop up in my own personality in real life, which is a massive problem.

Now I’ve felt the need to apologize to all my real life friends—which they’ve said I’ve not been negative or anything towards them—but I feel that way.

Not been a very good day.

definitely a far cry from single-hulled 'real' sailing when Liberty went up against Australia 2 back in the 80's and the winged keel was born.

Terrible day today.

Still dealing with remnants of all that Discord nonsense. But I think that’s all over now—hopefully.

Also, today was awful stuttering day. I am really, really close to needing to get help, it seems to have worsened recently. Struggled through an entire class discussion and was absolutely mortified by the end. I need to stop pretending that’s not an issue, because it’s a massive problem. I think I’m in a mindset of “I got lots of help as a kid, which worked wonders, so now I don’t have to worry anymore.” Well clearly that’s not true. I can say that about many other health issues too. I don’t ever remember struggling this hard to talk since I was a kid. No idea what’s up with that, but it’s extremely concerning to me.

I really hate talking about that as you know, but that’s just so real and negatively affecting my life, I can’t ignore it.

I have a very important interview tomorrow for my dream job. I feel relatively calm and collected. I am as prepared as I can be. However, I am still nervous. So many variables outside of my control. All I can do is my best.
Oh my gosh!! Sending my best wishes to you! I’m sure it’ll go great! Yes, all you can do is your best. If you try hard, you should feel proud of yourself. You know I’ll be proud of you no matter what!

Sorry to hear about your struggles.. for what its worth my favorite talk show host has a bad stutter, and I've always though it ads to his uniqueness :)

Yeah, of course! I think we all need a little encouragement, especially when it comes to these things! I know it’ll go great—just remember to have fun with it and don’t stress too much! I know that’s a big ask, but seriously! Just have fun with it, make it a good thing. I often forget that and then I get all anxious and uptight and it’s just a bad experience.

Plus, I’m your friend (I consider you all friends), and I want to make sure your experience is as positive as possible!

you've got that right.....job hunting can be so irritatingly irrational at times.....but you've got the right attitude
Oh my gosh, yeah. No kidding!!

You know, my philosophy with this kinda stuff is that if you try your hardest and make a good effort and it doesn’t work out, everyone will understand. But if you fail because you don’t try, that’s the problem.

Thanks. All I’ll say is that it’s very strange and bewildering to me. And really frustrating. Been paying a lot more attention to it lately. At least no one’s making fun of me.

Yes, thank you! I will have to at some point!

If it’s just me and someone else, I’m fine (usually). I can talk straight but the words are still a bit difficult to form, but I can do it. Same if I’m recording a video or something.

If I’m around tons of other people or presenting in front of a class, etc. I am an absolute mess. If you’ve ever read about the three characteristics of stuttering, I am all three. Reading aloud is vaguely tricky, too, but I think that’s an entirely different issue.

So, an outside light bulb (LED, bright) died. I go to the hardware store to get a new one. I go to replace it, and find that the Bayonet Batten Holder is broken (due to a friend, some years ago, details forgotten...). I go back to the hardware store to get a new holder, along with an insulated screwdriver.

Turn off the power at the mains. Go inside to get the multi-meter to check that there is absolutely no power to the wires. Turn light on in room. No light (see 1st sentence in this par.) Stand there like ID10T till brain resets and remembers why the lights don't turn on. Find multi-meter.

Go outside, remove old holder from eave soffit*, check wires (no volts). Undo wires, replace holder, re-attach to soffit, put in new bulb.

Turn power to lights back on, turn on light, all works, no spitz'n'sparkz.

Handy hint. When turning a new LED bulb on for the first time, leave it on for at least 15 minutes uninterrupted. This, apparently, sets the electronic components, leading to a longer life.

*According to the Internet, the eave is the whole assembly that overhangs the wall. The soffit is the flat bit on the underneath that you attach things to like light bulbs or hang your fresh garlic from.

Sorry to hear that. I've known a few people from back in my time in high school and later university who struggled with your issue. One fellow was bright but had trouble expressing himself. If you got to know him you would see that. Get help if you need it and you can vent here if you wish.

Sharing here: my very good friend Tom is one of the 3 people in this picture with me, I’m the closest person. Tom is now in his mid 50’s and has learned how to deal with his stuttering to be functional in society.

He’s a high school math teacher, statistics is his favorite subject to teach. Married with 2 grown children. He’s active in the Mtb community, trail coordinator, has organized trail events, etc. He’s an introvert at times, and the most chatty of people at times.

When I first met Tom, I heard his stuttering and it was difficult for me at times. I’ll not sure if there’s a scale of 1-10 on stuttering and others comprehension , 10 being the worst.
I’d say Tom is around a 3-4.

I can’t offer advice as my “lens of your situation” is an outsider. Except, seek help / guidance from your school if they offer it. I’m hoping you can find a balance in your situation. It will take effort and perseverance on your part, your well aware of that I know.

Decided I wanted to start getting some AWS certifications, since my job sponsored free training for Cloud Practitioner, and we would get a voucher to take the exam for free. Class was great, scheduled my exam, and took some additional studying courses/materials. Woke up today feeling great after doing really well on practice exams yesterday, ready to take the exam. Sign in to the portal...only to find out I scheduled the exam for yesterday morning. FML!!!!! So...bit the bullet, paid $100, and rescheduled the exam for Thursday.

Quite annoyed and a smidge discouraged that two jobs I recently applied for contacted me and said "Download the Signal app to speak with HR about an interview..."

Why are you discouraged? You may get an interview. Lots of stories here about people laid off from tech jobs who have sent out 100's of resumes with nary a response.
