In a coffee shop.
We have the first sunshine this afternoon in Wales for about 3 weeks, the shorts will be a common sight in the Valleys I would imagine.
Just the very thought of shorts at this time of year has me breaking out in goose bumps, or goose pimples of sheer (frozen) horror, and strikes me as an example of insane optimism, or someone who is utterly impervious to frigid temperatures.

Me, I'm well layered up.

Me too, always layered up as soon as it drops below 12 degrees. The men of the Valleys seem to wear shorts all year round, much like the postmen who seem to think its a badge of honour. Not for me Jeff.

Put on sunglasses to avoid retina burn from the pasty white legs
I'm laughing aloud, reading this.

Likewise.

And still in long sleeves until the thermometer reaches at least 19-20.

I loathe the cold, and have an enormous tolerance for heat and warmth.

A form of insanity.

I find myself shivering in a sort of vicarious sympathy whenever I lay eyes on them.
Not for me Jeff.
Amen to that.

A heartfelt, passionate and profound amen to that.
Wales is one of the few places on earth where the sun tans don't quite add up to the sheer lack of sunshine that we get.
I'm laughing, reading this.

Laughing because it is both true, apt, and funny.
The various sunbed shops on our high streets seem to stay open where vape shops and Turkish barbers disappear overnight.
Indeed.

The passing of time - on both a small and large scale. This term has gone by EXTREMELY fast (it's week 9 already!), and so has today.
To my mind, that means that you are probably enjoying yourself.

Perhaps enjoying yourself (and your courses and your classes, and your practice sessions and recitals) a lot.

My right upper arm was surprisingly sore last night and earlier today - it is still a little sore, but a lot less so now - and, initially, I thought (but couldn't recall precisely how) that I had banged or crashed into something - until I remembered receiving my flu jab and Covid booster yesterday.

Mine weren't in the same arm. I was surprised that the flu side wasn't sore at all since it usually is, and the Covid side was only a little sore for a couple of days.

I've scheduled both my Covid and flu shot for two weeks from today, so I'll be getting that out of the way soon.
I had appointments for that yesterday (along with a periodic check-up).

But when I described my symptoms last week/over the weekend, the doctor suspected that I already had covid.

So I only got my flu shot, and an old-school covid test (they'd run out of rapid tests), the kind that feels like it scrapes of parts of the brain as far up the nose as possible... and - to add insult to injury - I now have to wait a couple of days before I know...

Not feeling too bad, luckily, so I've been to work every (week) day. :)

Neither were mine.

Ah.

That explains things, and I think you are absolutely right.

My left arm wasn't sore, just slightly uncomfortable.

However, my upper right arm was surprisingly sore last night and this morning but is fine now.

In any case, on reflection, - and your post helped clear things up - I'm pretty certain that the flu jab went into my right arm, for a series of Covid questions were asked immediately before the injection into my left arm.

I asked a few and they all rejected. I don't think they like me as much as I imagine
Gotta be honest, that hits so hard. I can’t count how many times I’ve felt the same way.

BUT…. I don’t know if that’s actually true. Like I said, I’ve felt that way many times, but often it’s not true. Your friends may like you, and they might be your true friends. But they may have said no for either of two reasons—they’re busy, or they’re not interested in the particular activity.

Here’s what I’d suggest, if my advice is worth anything—wait awhile, then, if hanging out with them is your goal, just ask to do that! Doesn’t matter where. Could be at their house, or at the beach, or you could take them out for dinner. It doesn’t really matter. Or, ask them what they’d like to do! That can go a long way, too.

Trust me, I am a TERRIBLE socializer. I’ve gotten a little better since I’m in college, and managed to make some friends. But I’m still terrible in that realm.

Lastly, I really do believe that being a nice person, and being invested in the other individual, goes a LONG way. I mean that. I do not care if you’re a person with special needs (speaking from experience, this can make it a bit harder). I do not care your political ideology (you get to have an opinion, and so do I). I don’t care your socioeconomic situation. If you are a nice person who I can get along with (and our relationship is two-sided), that’s all it takes for me to be friends with you. At some point, I don’t understand why it needs to be any more complicated that that.

As far as online relationships go—those can be tricky, but I’ve managed to have pretty good luck in general. In fact, I think online relationships can actually turn into bigger things. For instance, awhile back I happened to be in the same area as the guy, and I’d known him for awhile and trusted him (and he felt the same for me), so we met in-person. And that was really fun! So while I don’t think those are the ideal kind of relationship, they do have potential.
