I miss drugs. Specifically opioids.
Popping a dilly to take the edge off of a long audit or security report, or a grueling teams meeting that never seems to end.

I miss the euphoria, the warm fuzzy blanket feeling.

I don't miss the withdrawals or panick attacks at higher dosages. I know I can't go back, but I miss them badly right now.

Work is dull.

It's supposed to snow tomorrow, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. So most of this week. Unfortunate. I'm off to Seattle on Thursday though. I'm sure a lot of rain there though.

Please don't, I can't tell you how dangerous that is. Seek help if you need it.
@The Clark :
Hey there! I came across this thread on MacRumors where someone shared their experience with Apple Watch and how it might be affecting their mental health and well-being.
Don’t be like this Apple Watch wearer here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/do-you-ever-take-a-rest-from-your-apple-watch.2452989/

It’s a topic that deserves our attention, and I thought I’d share some thoughts.

You know, substance abuse can have a serious impact on our mental health and physical health. It’s important to prioritise our well-being and seek help if we’re struggling. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or concerned about your health, I recommend reaching out to your GP. They’re trained professionals who can provide guidance and support.

Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish. It’s essential for your overall happiness and well-being. So, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help or support. Your health matters! 😊

My arm could probably do with some, but as I’ve never taken any opioids I wouldn’t know.

I’d probably give them a wide birth if I was you. Best stick with what’s prescribed only.

That's smart. Avoid them at all costs.

It's always hard because I can get on the darknet and order 100 of them to my door overnight. I have uninstalled TOR though, and I went to the gym at lunch and I'm already feeling much better.

Sat down at the piano for the first time in months.. attempted to play Hungarian Rhapsody No 2.. yeah, not today! Lol

Settled for some earlier Mozart Sonatas and it was quite pleasant. I forgot how to play a couple of my favorites and had to print out some sheet music. I'll never understand how Mozart was able to compose the way he did, especially at his younger ages.

I always searched for the most interesting work. I probably made myself crazier than I should have been, but the work was interesting.

There is a precept in Bhuddism: balance in everything. Offset the negative with the positive and vice versa. Never be blind to what's around you. Find satisfaction in every moment.

Life is what you make it.

I love that.

I agree, and I do like my job. However, cybersecurity (despite what many think) is really just perpetual reports, meetings, and audits. However when the technical side comes up it's always an absolute joy.

I worked for an agriculture software company. The owner was too cheap to buy anti-malware software. Using Win98 and WinNT, we always had something ridiculous happening.

I handled the malware using some of my earliest knowledge of multiple computer architectures, some cursing, some devious thinking, and some intricate schemes. I was always victorious, even if a certain one took me a week.

There was a point last summer, for about a month, where I didn't play at all. No practicing or performing. I was really going through some difficulties in my life and just had no motivation. So I didn't, and that was okay. I was a little rusty when I got back to school, but it's fine to have periods where you just don't practice.

I mean, he was like 9 years old when he wrote his first opera. I don't know how he did that, either.

I sight-read chorales for about an hour today. This term has been so busy I haven't had the time to do that really at all. I just got my own copy of "50 Hymn Tunes Without Words for Sight-Reading," which is excellent (I borrowed one of the school's copies when I was practicing for my piano proficiency exam). Then I've also got "413 Bach Chorales Analyzed," which I sincerely hope has not gone out of print (copies on Amazon have been out of stock for a few months now), because everyone needs that book.

The nice thing about "50 Hymn Tunes" is that each chorale is expressed with just the bass and soprano voices on one page, and then with all four voices on the other page. They're also very legible. However, I do believe it's still good to practice out of a hymnal because the bottom and top two voices are separated by as many as 5 lines of text, so you get practice with open score reading by doing that.

Yep, and some of his grade one pieces that he wrote when he was roughly 5 years old will always be (to me) his most impressive flex.

Good for you!

In 2025 you have no choice but to have strong security. There's just too many threats out there not to.

Since AI is around the 3rd grade level, I suspect that AI will be trained to hack. Intelligent anti-malware must be better than anything we have now.

I hope that anti-malware companies are providing an aggressive response. I'm not so pleased with Malwarebytes right now, as there are too many false positives.

Even if I was able to train such software myself, only one viewpoint/method would not be enough to withstand a concentrated attack.

...and we're off! Currently invigilating an exam and I feel stressed even though it has been a couple of decades (!!!) since my last exams. Good group though as was our previous group last semester.

I've been thinking about living an inexpensive life but I'm not sure that's possible anywhere now.

When I actually had a good job and had money, I thought about living part of the year in Malaysia, where it as inexpensive and had good food.

I haven't been out of the country for a long time, almost 40 years. Even though it's about 1.5 hours to the Pacific Ocean, it feels so far.

Every time I come into the room, you people stop talking and stare at me. I'm becoming a bit paranoid. 😁
Ohhh I just do not have anything to say 'bout what is on my mind really, just my first huge midterm for physics coming up.

Yesterday was not as much going on just helping my classmates machine their hippo toys in my afternoon class before we do the other side, going to counselling and a long day.

Just done another politics midterm paper and it was long imo.
