The trackpad button is HUGE on that MacBook. But the iBook had a bigger one.

I wish I could get a black MacBook with the 9400m

Those trackpads were the same on all Intel Macs before MBA. I actually like this big button way more than MBA's thin one. And I don't like how you need to apply much more pressure to click on the glass tackpads and how it makes a loud click when pressed.

Ah, I haven't really tried the glass ones much. I know that my iBook G4 makes a very loud click, though... always hated that. I have never been a fan of the trackpad tapping because I do it accidentally too much, so I like using the button. Thankfully, the PowerBook G4 and the pre-unibody MacBook Pros have a much quieter click.

Tapping is much better than clicking with the new trackpads. Then there is no sound.

A, maybe it is for some, but I like to use my thumb to click and my index finger to track the cursor (thumb is always on the button or the bottom area if glass trackpad). At least glass TPs allow me to do this... but the click is very loud :(

I tap the trackpad accidentally too much is tap to click is enabled.

I use my middle finger as the main finger for moving the cursor and clicking and the ring finger to do two finger scrolling along with the middle finger. My thumb is only used for zooming or rotating images. My index finger is only used for using the three finger or four finger gestures.

12" iBook G3 (and G4). Despite it's logic board problems, it's my favourite Mac since it was my first Mac.
Although mine ended up being sold to buy a Macbook, which since then has carried on with it's legacy of being awesome

The mods merged the "Post your favorite computer of all time" thread that I started with a similar thread that was for Macs only.

It's a conspiracy! But, perhaps mac have been the favorites of all time. I for one would like to forget all my past PC experiences.

I didn't mention earlier, but I love the Mac Color Classic, or Performa 250. I remember playiing Oregon Tail on them and doing hypercard.

It's between the Power Macintosh 5200, iMac G3 (Summer 2000), PowerBook G3 Pismo and The Power Mac G4 MDD (FW800):apple:.

Mac wise, my 15" MBP, but we all know what that looks like.

Now Apple wise, it has to be the Apple IIGS. I cut my teeth on this thing. Still have it and it still works.

Those were awesome computers. My buddies dad had one, probably still does. He had a RAM upgrade card with a few megabytes of RAM, a 9Mhz CPU upgrade, 20MB Hard Drive, 2 5.25" Floppies, 2 3.5" Floppies, a sound board with mixer, 12" RGB, hand held page scanner, imagewriter II, a joystick for games, and was running GS/OS 6.

That thing was a beast and encouraged me to buy my first Mac the IIvx.
Mainly to play the massive games library my friend had for the IIgs. That's when I found out that there were Apple's and there were Macintoshes:(. But I loved the Mac immediately, despite not having the games to play, and quickly sold my recently purchased 486 to my Dad:D.

I have to second the vote for the Pismo.

Classic lines. Great connectivity. Dual battery bays. Upgradeable processor.

Of course, in today's world it's an outclassed machine - but at the time it was awesome.

Mine still works perfectly 9 years later...

I had one too - was a fantastic machine and I maintain that only if it were to match the power of today's laptops, it's still a great design; I had a battery, CD-ROM drive and a Zip drive and the ability to hot-swap between them was BRILLIANT! A real head turner in its day. My personal laptop today is...

A Powerbook G4 400Mhz! Got it on the insurance as a replacement for the G3 - unfortunately, MagSafe didn't exist back then! About 8 years old and hasn't missed a beat in all that time, despite being lugged around on a daily basis. OS 9.1 rocks! :apple:

A Lesson in Aesthetics

Aesthetically, my favorite Apple machine ever is the iMac G4. My second favorite is likely a tie between the 12" PowerBook G4, and dare I say; the newly redesigned October 2009 MacBook.

The Snow iMac G3, iMac G5, iBook G3, eMac G4, and the newly redesigned October 2009 27" iMac all get an honorable mention.

Having said that, my least favorite Apple machine in the history of Apple in terms of aesthetics and display usability is the Mid-2007 iMac (with the "glass" display coating) which was recently discontinued (October 2009) with the release of the new iMac.

The most recent line of MacBook Pros (also with a heavy emphisis on black, but with excellent build quality), the MacBook Air, and the First Generation MacBook all get a not-so-honorable mention.

And I don't like how you need to apply much more pressure to click on the glass tackpads and how it makes a loud click when pressed.

I can agree with you now that I own a Mac with the glass trackpad. My Classic MBP's button was much easier to click and much quieter. Now I feel like I'm back to my iBook's clicking. I tried, yet again, to use the tapping for clicking, but I just always end up tapping accidentally.

Back on topic, I think my iBook G4 will always be in my heart as a favorite. I got it Early '05, I believe. It was my first OS X Mac, first laptop, and it's beautiful, too. I got it back from a friend not too long ago. It was rather filthy and many letters on the keys had gotten chipped off. But now she has a new keyboard and she cleaned up quite well! I should take pictures. It's in great shape.
