Happy with my network in where I use it.
Content with my Treo 700W(wifi would be nice but a distraction for me).
Conent with having a phone separate from my DAP/PMP(in this case a Mini for biking and a Cowon A2 for everything elese).
If it ant broke why fix it(or change it).

1) No Canadian availability (?)
2) Cost
3) I don't necessarily need a phone, I want an iPod that runs OS X like the iPhone, with the same form factor, and even wifi support for browsing the web, all the calendar functions, email, etc... without the phone.
4) Rev A (nuff said)
5) I honestly have no use for that much functionality (as far as communication goes)

I could live with writing an email and waiting till I'm in an open wifi situation where the emails could all be dumped at once. I don't think that will happen though, since many people need instant email.

I REALLY want to see the next iPod in the exact same form factor as the iPhone.

Like everyone has said, the price is outrageous!
It either has too much functionality or not enough depending on how you look at it.
It isn't actually useful as an iPod as my music/movie library is 40gb.
It is too close to being a palm without the same functionalities.
I don't have a phone right now, and don't really need one.
No one wastes $500-$600 on a PHONE!!!!!
(at least no one I know)

I would love the iPhone b/c of it's wifi access. But I can't get one yet b/c

1. I am in SE Asia for a while, so definitely could pick up a tPhone lol.
2. I'm patiently awaiting Nokia's new phones b/c they are fine for what I use them for.
3. The price isn't that outrageous here, but in the US it is b/c we're used to subsidies. But still wanting more.
4.AT&T coverage is the worst in my area back Stateside.
5. But when I return, seeing people with iPhones will be very tempting.

No 3G for EU networks
Lacks SIM (although this may change for EU)
Price
Untested
No build in GPS
doubts over keyboard
ec.

Not to mention a bunch of Nokia Shares ;)

Rather spend 600 bucks into something I know Apple does well... Like a new 4-core MacMini :p

worth it just as a pocket wifi web browser, but I'm afraid of being tempted by the all girls that will want me for my phone.

After much thinking and soul-searching:
* I don't really have that much idle time outside of home. I can't use it at work even though I have downtime because of security concerns.
* I have an 8 gig Nano, 80 gig Video iPod, 2 portable DVD players, NDS Lite, and PSP. If I'm going somewhere and I'm going to have to wait, most of the time I just grab the Nano to listen to music, or I'll talk on the phone (I have a Pantech C300).
* If I'm going to take pic it's going to be with the 6 megapix Canon.
* I get a free whatever-current-then phone in 5 months. Free. Same deal-2 year activation. However, I have a Shared Family plan and discount through work, so the 2 of us pay $30 a month each -after taxes- for 275 minutes each and free M2M and nights and weekends, with RollOver. I'm ok being stuck with Cingular.
* The battery

Most of all, I wouldn't really get too much use out of it.

I wish I could get one but I can't afford it... I REALLY REALLY REALLY want one but I'm a poor ex-college student.

$645 (599 + CA tax)
$36 activation fee
$200 (to get out current T - Mobile plan)

Total: 881 bones for me. Wayyyyyyyyy tooooo many.

Bottom Line: iPhone or food/shelter/gas for a month.

I only wish I could live in an iPhone and it could take me to work.

The phone itself is insanely expensive
My mother has us locked in a 4 year sprint contract:eek:
i can just go to a sprint store and tell them that i hate the plan i have and i am gonna switch to another service and they will give me a moto q to calm me down(what my dad did) at a lower price:D
if i could afford it and i was not locked in to a plan i might think about it
it would cost me around $400 to cancel our plan right now, $400 for the iPhone plus activation and a plan and i dont have that kind of cash just waiting to be spent, do you?:(

So pretty much you want EVDO support in it? Or are you talking about something else?

Why don't I need an iPhone?

It sucks?

Kidding, I don't want a $350 cancellation contract, my RAZR is just coming back from being fixed, and it's 600 !@#$ing $.

Not available at my place
even if it were, i wouldn't buy it, since:
1. Price
2. Size
3. Apple's first revisions are often buggy
4. I don't like using such a small monitor (and keyboard) for Internet
5. No custom ringtones(who uses the build-in ringtones nowadays?)

AT&T hates its Employees

The average consumer will see an increase in their monthly bill of $20 to cover their additional data plan.

The AT&T employee will have to pay an additional $20-$60 above the data plan. The employees that work on the equipment to make this stuff work are given a discount of 20-100% (depending on their subsidary and their length of service). This is gone for anyone that buys this phone.

I'm off contract with T-Mobile (pay month to month), but I refuse to switch to AT&T. Even for the iPhone. If it were unlocked, I would have gotten one.

Like the others here it's not available in my locale :(. I'd have to say that if it where I'd be forced to consider ite purely on its phone and ipod capabilities.

Mobile data plans are exorbitant in australia which would pretty much rule me out of using it as a email/web-browsing device, and wifi roll out is far too restrictive. I'd probably only use it at home on occasion to surf the web, in which case my 12" powerbook is usually within reach at all times anyway.

Have to see how things are by the time V2.0 reaches australia.

edit: and I just bought a treo 680 so I can use the medical programs on the ward. It's really helpful so I'm hoping the iPhone would have similar capabilities.

i'll probably get one cuz i'm a fool.

But i'm a thinkin this really smacks of a first gen. while Apple waits for the low power G3 chips (from what i've heard the present G3 chips are power hogs)

And as we all know, Apple has no compunction at all upgrading anything at any time, and is deaf to screams of protest.

(which is ok I guess)

Oh yes, reasons why no:

Price
price
price
price.......

But the number one reason why i'm reluctant is the fear of the response i'll get when I show it to people and they say:
"Wow that's nice what is it? ........and how much did you pay?........WHAT!! You payed that for a friggin phone?

your nutz.

iPhone needs serious upgrade of specs for europe

Whatever network Apple is going to be on over here, it will not downgrade from UMTS/3G to EDGE!

So here's why i won't be buying one for now:
- No 3G
- No voicedialling (calling handsfree from your car is mandatory in most european countries. iPhone cannot be operated with one hand.
- No MMS
- No user-replaceable battery

its not out in australia yet....if it was i would get it straight away because it is ridiculously cheap for a smart phone in australia...most smart phones in aus are about 1100 - 1200 aussie dollars which is about 930 us dollars.....iPhone is bloody cheap!!!!!

I'm in the same Europe boat. But if I weren't, I just don't think I could handle a 600 dollar phone and a two year contract at the moment. Maybe someday soon though...:(

1. I don't like having a digital leash (even if it happens to be a particularly cool one)

2. I'm only paying 100 per year for my prepaid phone with T-mobile.

3. I'd rather just have a widescreen touch ipod.

4. I'm not wealthy.
