Now updated to version 2.11.14.121 for you all. I've left the .13 FINAL version there so people can go back to that if they ever need to.

Thanks a lot, I had resisted until now but now I am installing.

Are there any known issues with the .14 version except iCloud backup?
Would you recommend updating?

Edit: been installing for 10 minutes now and the circle is only one quarter full?
 
Mine has been installing for more than 15 minutes now with less than a quarter done. Is that normal??

Edit: more than 25 minutes now, what is going on?

Took ages to upload as well. Must be slow on Pgyer's end

I actually haven't installed the beta - was a bit sceptical initially but might bite now. What are the differences between this latest release and what was available before hand?

hi all. i'm new to this forum. i have flowed macRumors for many years but never actually joined it.

i have installed the whatsapp 2.11.14.121 on my iPhone 6. i hope there is no phishing software been added to it :eek:. At the moment all working well. is there anyway i can back up the chat.

Installing th newer build right now, seems to be downloading a lot faster this time :)

Just one question: what is the difference between this one and the one you uploaded earlier today? Seems to be the exact same version number.

Does the fact that it's a new build mean that the code was changed at all?
 
Can't get notifications to work when whatsapp isn't running in the background. So if I close the app fully I won't get notified. If I leave it in the background it seems to work. Anyone know why or if this is some kind of setting?

you have to install the beta over the app store version, as an update ;)
 
Is it possible to have a backdoor on this app? or anything dodgy?

Even though the os system should be secure?

So when you install the update whenever it comes out, you can restore the backup you have right now to it, which means loosing all the messages send between now and the point where the update comes out.

How about backing up in iTunes?

Would this third party beta mess up the backup specific to whatsapp app in the backup file (with photos texts app data etc)
 
use iexplorer to backup all ur files and when the real update comes (which seems like it will never come), just paste it back in to ur phone
 
But pasting it back to your phone with iExplorer only works when jailbroken, right?

I don't mind Whatsapp temporarily not backing up, as long as it will back up when the official release gets updated over the Beta :)

Nope. You don't need jailbreak. You can access apps files without jailbreak. :)

I'm not 100% on whether this will be the case - you may lose all updated messages since you installed the beta when you move back to the official app.

All my messages were retained and iCloud backups started working again.

Ah ok, thanks. That means that anyone who has installed the beta shouldn't lose anything when moving back to the app store version. Famous last words though :p.
 
Beta is running great so far, no issues, notifications work as they should and the newest version actually downloads relatively fast.

Yeah but I meant copying data back to the device. For that you need a jailbreak, right?

That sounds good! But how did you install an App Store version over the Beta? If you have the Beta installed, how can you install an older version of Whatsapp over it? Or did you first remove the Beta and if so, how did it retain your chat history?
