That sounds good! But how did you install an App Store version over the Beta? If you have the Beta installed, how can you install an older version of Whatsapp over it? Or did you first remove the Beta and if so, how did it retain your chat history?

Exactly how can a previous version be installed over a new ?
 
Possible issue

Ok, so when i installed the regular version (that is in the app store) on top of the beta, it worked fine with no issue. My friend seems to be having an issue now. It worked fine for him too, but he tried again and he got this problem [while being on the regular non updated whatsapp (from AppStore).]

Just beware. I don't see a reason to go back to that version, but I thought this is useful info.

Mentioned many a time in this thread, iCloud restore/backup barely works, if at all. It'll be using the same strings as the beta.
 
It isn't iCloud issue ... the new .14 beta "upgrades" existing database hence making it useless on previous versions ...

So once you go to .14.1xx version you will see on first startup, it will say "Optimising..." ... its actually upgrading the chat db ...

So if you plan to go back to App Store version or even the .13 version, you will have to start your chat from start ...

That means install .13 if you need the data back??

Chances are they won't release 2.11.13 to the AppStore and go straight to 2.11.14 so it may not even be an issue...
 
Why don't you just use Threema? It's extremly fast, very reliable, and very very secure.
It's very widesprea in the german countries (switzerland, germany and austria).
I use it since half a year and it's amazing. A loy of updates and the developers listen to the feedback.
Just have a look, it's worth! Also easy to convince your friends to use it...

I already switched to Telegram. Brilliant app, seems much speedier (compared to WhatsCrApp) and love the desktop client as well.
 
I remember getting all mad about WhatsApp not having released an update like 2 weeks ago. Now after these two weeks have passed, there is still nothing.
I have the beta installed now but I will forever dislike WhatsApp.
I hope I can get my friends to adopt Telegram sooner rather than later as WhatsApp sucks on all accounts in my opinion.
No matter if you talk about updates, design, usability, price, devices or what ever Telegram is superior.
 
I wouldn't trust telegram to much. They had some privacy issues... And still have. It's a russian company.
Go with Threema... Swiss Made - Non EU and Swiss local servers

To be honest I don't trust any of them, anyone that thinks anything is safe over the Internet is very naive.
