Well, looks like the landscape cameras won't be coming to the Air  Leaning heavily toward getting the Pro now.

The ESR screen protector for the 13ā€ Pro makes it look like weā€™re getting a notch and I am so happy šŸ˜€ I hope itā€™s an actual Dynamic Island.
Man, you must be the first person in history who actually wants a notch o_O It's not necessarily the case, they have to put a notch or a hole on the screen protector anyway because of the camera and ambient light sensor, I think.

I think the notch brings parity within Appleā€™s lineup, and yeah, it could just be to be sure they donā€™t black any sensors they might not be 100% sure on the placement.

Gurmanā€™s Q&A this week is about the iPad release timing. Is anyone a subscriber?

Gurmanā€™s Q&A this week is about the iPad release timing. Is anyone a subscriber?
He said the software update to iPadOS 17.4 is needed and that it would be done end of March or early April then needs to be sent to factory so it could be well into April. Not the news I was hoping for. I gave my 12.9ā€ M1 iPad Pro to my sister in February and took her Air to use until the new one came out thinking it would not be long.

from the Verge

Appleā€™s updated tablets should arrive after ā€œa variant of iPadOS 17.4ā€ is finished around the end of this month or ā€œsometime in April,ā€ Mark Gurman writes in the subscriber version of Power On for Bloomberg today.

I'm confused about this "variant of iPadOS 17.4."

The firmware is already out (released early March) and there's no specific features tied to iPadOS unless I'm missing something. Maybe Apple has something special for the new iPad Pros... that is the only conclusion I can draw from it.

Something that I don't understand is that it does not take that much to finish up software for iPad Air M2. It literally wouldn't have that much of new features considering how it was being updated in the past, and its rumoured features.

Furthermore, iPadOS 17.4 literally has references to landscape Face ID, which means they would have worked on the development since long time ago. To be clear, I do not know the software development inside the Apple but based on the iPad update history and rumoured features, I think iPads getting delayed because of software seems to be a bit of a stretch to me.

I don't think this is any new information. This could still be consistent with an announcement this week for a release then . . .

hmm, you may be right. But there's also: "You will get your iPad when they are good and ready", which I thought was annoying. :D (not sure who said that)

I mean, even my low IQ can grasp how that works.

Can you paste the text from his newsletter
Q: Can you please clarify when the new iPad Pro will arrive?
A: There seems to be a misunderstanding on social media and online forums as to when I said new iPad Pro models would debut, so let me clear some things up. In December, I said the new iPad Pro would arrive after the M3 MacBook Air, or ā€œaround the end of March.ā€ Since then, Iā€™ve repeatedly said that new software for
the iPad Pro ā€” a variant of iPadOS 17.4 designed for the updated models ā€” wonā€™t be complete until the end of March or even sometime in April. Once the OS is finished, Apple needs to send it off to the factories to be installed on the new hardware. That process could last a couple weeks, probably taking us deeper into next month. Nothing in my reporting has changed.
Just be patient.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø Never listen to Gurman on iPad release timings! He has been wrong on several occasions, he even publicly stated the iPad Mini 6 would NOT be launched on the very same day Apple launched it! šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

The other week he claimed NO new Mac hardware would be launched and Apple launched the new updated MacBook Air. His track record on release schedules is shockingly poor.

Yes but it's a little convincing nevertheless. I guess we shall see. I don't know his mindset, but it's possible he feels he needs to supply answers, which can lead to creative thinking.

Also... let's not forget about what happened to M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max MacBook Pros...
