I mean, I get your point. But Apple held normal events where they announced several products at one time and people still had to choose between purchases.
I didn't think an Apple TV was in the cards... rumors called for iPads, MBAs and accessories. And we are talking about Apple here... releasing some polarizing product that users have to pay $3500 for. I just don't buy the "let's spread it out so people won't buy it on one bill."
Which is why I think they choose not to do an event this time around. There were no iPPs last year, and I imagine they want it to have it's own time to shine. The Airs are a pretty quick update ( I love my M2 Air ), but that's something I see the general public being interested in all year. The iPPs have been more of a niche product, which is why I think you see the post like the one referred to about downgrading. It needs it's own time to be in the conversation.
The avoiding of selling one product that may keep another from selling is basics. It doesn't necessarily apply to the Apple faithful, but to others it will. As I said though I imagine it's about rebuilding the hype, about the foot traffic in stores, and getting back to the iPP hard core. If the iPP does get the changes rumored, that will be a topic by itself that people will carry on about for a week ( I already dread the inevitable "ipads are not a computer", "ipads are not replacements...", "tell me why I should get an iPP", and other beaten to death topics when it releases from those who aren't really interested in an iPP ) or two.
