I'm not a beta tester, so we'll have to see how long it takes....the longer, the better.
I am not saying I don't want public release sooner, but I'm just looking at it all logically.

I know, we'll just have to wait and see. I hoped they would learned from Catalina last year, and make a better osMAC.I am not saying I don't want public release sooner, but I'm just looking at it all logically.
I did find out over the weekend that, read it somewhere that Big Sur already has the both the Intel and the new Apple processor coded in its software. My guess, that Apple will release any time Big Sur and won't have to wait around for new Macs. When dose everyone think when we will see Mac OS Big Sur GM and when do you think Mac OS Big Sur will be released to the public?
Why would they release Big Sur before the new Apple devices with Apple silicon are being released? They would want to optimize and tweak as much as possible.I think we might see Big Sur November 10 before the November event if there is one, since the build number is back to a G - i think next week we might see Beta 11
Isn't it a big assumption that Apple Silicon is tied to the current beta cycle of Big Sur?Why would they release Big Sur before the new Apple devices with Apple silicon are being released? They would want to optimize and tweak as much as possible.
I just can't see them delaying Big Sur that long. Tomorrow could be a release date.Isn't it a big assumption that Apple Silicon is tied to the current beta cycle of Big Sur?
Yes they have been testing concurrently MacOS on both processor platforms in house, but some future version of Big Sur might be the minimum OS for that first Apple Silicon Mac.
You know what? I'm in no hurry to see it. It comes out when it comes out. They’ll do a big event for the new Macs & to recap Big Sur’s new shiny things as this will be a more public facing event.
Yes, WWDC is more accessible these days compared to the past, but it is developer focused.
This will be a consumer focused event, plus it’s been months and people have short attention spans.
So, show off Big Sur, then new shiny Silicon Macs & what they can do that’s different to the current intel ones.
Then Big Sur GM the day of the event, with public release the Wednesday/Thursday before the new macs are available.
It brings them more in line with how they do it for iOS, so more consistency.
I'd like to respectfully disagree!Isn't it a big assumption that Apple Silicon is tied to the current beta cycle of Big Sur?

Announced at a November Event, give or take alongside Apple Silicon Macs; Available shortly after
The Universal App Quick Start Program for Mac Developers is to get their software ready for the transition to run as FAT binaries. Being that this is very limited to so many existing Mac Application Developers, you can’t assume a A12z has same instruction set that specific Apple Silicon offers for running some version of Big Sur. That was all I was saying is that initial public release of Big Sur might not be what ships with the first Apple Silicon Mac.I'd like to respectfully disagree!
Big Sur is as of today the only macOS we know of running on apple silicon. If you sign the NDA and get elected to get a loaner ARM mac mini, it comes with Big Sur beta today (not just in-house!).
Not "might" be, the current Big Sur is the minimum requirement for Apple Silicon.
It makes a lot of sense (as in the past) to tie the "big new thing" called macOS 11 to the release of the other "big new thing": a shiny new hardware architecture.
Willing to take a bet that the release announcement will be at the same event as the new mac with apple silicon
To my understanding will both the A12z and the A14x have the same ARM instruction set. If I remember correctly, ARM V8.4. All V8.0 will run on 8.4, only some optimisations and the hypervisors can differ (HV can move from EL2 to EL3). A12z to A14x will also note the move from 7nm to 5nm TSMC process. The Universal App Quick Start Program for Mac Developers is to get their software ready for the transition to run as FAT binaries. The more betas, the better.Maybe Beta 11 by end of week, just a guess on my part...
there might not even be a beta 11 and GM is next 🤔
macOS Mojave, bug-infested? To me, Mojave was buttery smooth and very solid... definitely one of the best macOSes since OS X Mountain Lion.My thought is for the software team to take their time and get it right as best they can. We already have enough complaints from users who say macOS Catalina, Mojave are bug infested. Hopefully when it does release it will be stable enough for daily use where we can move on from Catalina.
Yes! So glad I'm not the only one who noticed the pattern.Yeah I was kinda sad to leave Mojave behind when I got my Mini this year, but I still have my Pro here when I need to use the stuff that broke moving ahead (and my Windows 10 bootcamp). Mojave reminded me of Snow Leopard on my 2006 Pro, and Tiger on my G4/G5 when everything just worked like Macs were supposed to. Its like every other one they finally get smooth and right.. I didn't have any issues with Catalina here, but I only ran it for a couple of months before I went for the beta. Was perfectly fine for me, but if it was really as bad as everyone still claims, maybe Big Sur will be that next one that knocks it out of the park.
If the pattern follows suit, they should name the next one Bakersfield or Fresno or something so people know which ones to avoid haha. Although Catalina itself does kinda suck and gets boring real quick if you live near it and go more than once or twice in your life.
