The Silicon event is heavily rumoured for the 17th, so, GM could be the day of the event, assuming they intend the new macs to come out the week after, the public release will be that week.

There’s reputable sources on Twitter saying Big Sur public release is November 18th, the day after the Silicon event.....

That means GM should be the week of the 9th (possibly the week of the 2nd at the earliest).

I wonder if we will get one last beta this week. If we don’t, then the current build is looking like the GM build.

Looks like we might potentially be getting an Intel 16" MacBook Pro, based on Boot Camp's recent update
No we won’t it’s wrong all that bootcamp meant was the 2019 and 2020 16” as in the 2020 updated graphic option there is no update this year

The graphic update ones were always referred to as the 2019 one in all other supporting documents, so why would they randomly change that now?

Unless Apple corrects it, then there’s still the possibility of an intel one coming.

It means what year it came out in; why would apple leak a new one is coming; no 16” till 2021

I could be wrong, but I've always known Apple to refer to their Macs based on the year that shows up in 'About This Mac'. MacBooks with the new graphic card update still say 2019.

The 16" MacBook Pro was released mid-November last year. There's still a chance new ones will come out this year, especially considering Tim has stated that they still have Intel-based Macs in their pipeline.

Why would Apple refer to it as the 2019 one, everywhere, but suddenly in this 1 document refer to it as 202? Even on those MacBooks, refer to it as the 2019 model, not 2020.

This Bootcamp document may be a typo, but until it's removed, then it's possible. Apple have done this before, it could be that this bootcamp update was expected to be out at the time the new Macs had been announced, and it was missed. Plus, we know they have Intel based machines in the works still. It's not 100% Silicon products until the end of the transition period (sure they said 3 years).

I'm with you here. The 16 is the workhorse of MBP's, and I have assumed that it would be the last of the 'portables', as it has to win over those that demand the highest spec's from a MBP.

I think we might see a 16 inch macbook pro with *new* intel processor. Like a CPU refresh. The last intel cpu refresh. Other components will be same. They’ve done it in the past. So there is a posibility.

Strongly disagree. Who is going to buy a MBP 16 normally? Creative or developers, who want maximum grunt in a portable machine. Apple are no doubt confident that 'Apple Silicon' is the way to go, but to gain market confidence, you release a popular, but lower spec device 'Air or MBP 12/14 and create belief. Understate, overprove.

They can refresh the 16 inch line up with new intel processors though. Since apple silicon is years away before it goes to higher end pro models, they will probably release something in the interim.
It’s all about profit for them.
Apple Silicon for lower end models first then eventually to higher end pro models in the next year or two.

Am sure that Tim, etc said at WWDC that it was a 3 year transition period, before the entire Mac lineup was using Silicon, I need to rewatch and check.

Edit: Nevermind, it's 2 years.

Today’s new beta kinda confirms that Beta 10 was a candidate GM for macOS 11. We are now on 11.0.1 beta.

Yea, that was a surprise. I still think we're getting the GM the week of November 2nd or 9th, with public release on the 18th, as some reputable leakers have stated.

I think that has to be something on YouTube's end, as didn't it start mid Beta cycle and not with a certain release?

YouTube stopped working for me when I installed the last public beta. 🤷‍♂️🥺

By CCC, do you mean Carbon Copy Cloner? If so, don't think it is fully compatible with Big Sur yet. I use SuperDuper!, and I know it is not compatible yet.

I also have some other critical third party software which is not yet compatible. I am going to wait a while. Meanwhile, things are running smoothly with the latest version of Catalina (OS 10.15.7.).
You are correct. CCC can no longer create bootable clones of the Mac system disk. Here's their comment:

I just think that Mac OS Big Sur 11.0.1 replaces Mac OS Big Sur 11 Beta 10- they did something similar to one of the iOS betas. Because if Mac OS Big Sur 11 Beta 11 around it will still be in the developer portal, so they replaced it with 11.0.1

I'm thinking that Mac OS Big Sur 11.0.1 could be a GM on November 10 when Apple confirms there November event
