I had Beta 10 install, and now it is prompting me to upgrade to 11.0.1. Is this considered the GA release?I'm thinking that Mac OS Big Sur 11.0.1 could be a GM on November 10 when Apple confirms there November event
the latest Beta has a different Build #, it is newer than Beta 10I just think that Mac OS Big Sur 11.0.1 replaces Mac OS Big Sur 11 Beta 10- they did something similar to one of the iOS betas. Because if Mac OS Big Sur 11 Beta 11 around it will still be in the developer portal, so they replaced it with 11.0.1
So is it "just" a beta, or a possible GM release? Also, any idea what this beta version corrects?the latest Beta has a different Build #, it is newer than Beta 10
Yes it is a Beta, instead of calling it Beta 11, they changed the numberingSo is it "just" a beta, or a possible GM release? Also, any idea what this beta version corrects?

There is always a GM release of software before being released to the public if then where is the GM Beta of Big Sur 11?? I think we will see version 11.0.1 when releases or maybe they want to release the Mac OS Big Sur 11 GM next tuesday- We will just have to wait and see what happens or we might see GM tomorrow as a surprise.
Here are all of the build numbers for Mac OS Big Sur

Unfortunately, Big Sur does not play "nice" with either SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. That is not good at all.11.0.1 working good, super smooth. Ran through bunch of apps to test performance of graphics, sound, video encode/decode. Everything that needs to be on point for the general public release is on point.
Then their devs need to get on it. Its not Apple's job to update everyone else's applications to run on their new operating system. CCC still works great here for the backups I use it for, but I leave the system ones to Time Machine, which happens to work perfectly with Big Sur.Unfortunately, Big Sur does not play "nice" with either SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. In exchanges with Dave Nanian of Shirt Pocket Software (developer of SuperDuper! (SD)) and on another board, it is Apple that is causing the issue. I do not fully comprehend it, but here is what Dave relayed to me yesterday:Then their devs need to get on it. So you are claiming this or you know? Meaning we are already in the next beta track from the release version? Versioning would make sense that way, but why not call it GM then?GM is loaded on the new apple computer all ready ready to be shipped and we got the next .1 beta release all ready! so our beta 10 was the GM

Basically Beta 10 build will be packaged as the GM build, which Apple will have done internally last week, if more earlier. They will let Devs have it soon, as according to leakers with good track records, public release of 11.0 is to be the 18th November, the day after the Silicon event. So you are claiming this or you know? You're also missing out that last year we got iOS 13.1 beta before 13.0 came out. It's not unheard of that this happens, just rare, nothing to be surprised by though.Yes GM is in the new apple computer all ready being shipped. This is the next update to Mac OS all ready. Just like new phones got iOS 14.1 shipped and we got 14.2 you know.
this never happen before going from beta to a .point release so beta 10 went GM internally and got loaded in to new computers and GM will be pub release after next apple event coming up shortly
Yeah, makes sense. The interesting thing for iOS 14 was the jump straight to 14.2. But appreciate we're going off topic here! You're also missing out that last year we got iOS 13.1 beta before 13.0 came out. It's not unheard of that this happens, just rare, nothing to be surprised by though.
Alot people don't think Big Sur 11 is not really ready to yet- and I don't know why they did not do a beta 11
