The question for me is whether the pro max will be able to fit comfortably in my front pocket in a normal pair of jeans. I’m not interested in a fanny pack/man bag to carry it around day to day.

The 12PM is a tad bit taller than the 11PM, and is a little thinner. Unless you're wearing extra skinny jeans, I think it'll be fine. There's definitely an imprint of the 11PM in all my jeans though ha.

I wear slim or fitted jeans, but not baggy and my 11PM fit perfectly fine. It was heavy at times yes. When I sat down somewhere I would notice it in my pants, yes. I walk around at work quite frequently and it wasn't that bad. I did get used to it though and formed a habit of taking it out before sitting down somewhere. **I don't use a case, but a case would obviously make it much more difficult, sticky, bulky, etc**

Likely just the Pro. I have an 11 Pro Max, and miss the XR size. This phone is giant and heavy, and given that when I watch videos on it its right in my face anyways, a bit more size isn't making much difference. And when I do need a giant screen... I've got enough of those around anyways.

As far as the camera differences go, neat on paper, doubt I'll notice in practise enough to care.

Same here. I’m getting the 12 Pro.

Well, this thread just change my firm mind and get the 12 Pro instead of the Pro Max.

Especially knowing myself hating the max size in the past. I was only able to stand the size for a month and then gave it to SO. Nope.. not doing the same mistake again. I am upgrading from iPhone X and hopefully the camera upgrade will be worth when I get my iPhone 12 Pro..

I'm going for the Pro vs. Max this time. I love my XS max for the OLED and larger screen real estate. I never had issue with the size of the phone in the pockets or not using it with one hand. But with the pandemic, I'm using my phone more for work than media consumption (especially when I commuted to & from work). I was insanely jealous of the 11 series night mode camera (haha) but not enough to switch/upgrade. But since I'm using my phone for matters than just media consumption, I don't necessarily need the real estate this time around. But I'm looking forward to having OLED, better cameras and 5G (when available).

My 3 cents...

This criticism has been here since the beginning of time. I've had the large phone and have never once had an issue carrying it. Front pocket is unadvisable for a phone for a number of reasons (especially you gentlemen out there). But to say you need a purse to carry a phone that is 0.3" larger footprint is absurd.

If you're watching movies, do most of your surfing, use it for word processing, record video or take photos then large phone's size and features are a benefit. Not to mention the extra hour of battery life.

I see lots of people justifying the Pro over the Max simply because they can't wait 3 more weeks for the shiny new thing.

I think I'm gonna order the 10 Pro tomorrow and have it for a couple of weeks while 10 Pro Max comes out see which one I decide to keep and ill just sell the one I don't want

I'm wondering if as a gentleman, you are not storing you phone in your front pocket, where are you storing it, back pocket. I personally don't ever see how that is doable whenever you are sitting down (I feel the same with wallets). I think the risk of cancer (testicular or other) is low from modern cell phones.

I’ve been out of the phone game for quite some time now. Still using my iPhone 6s Plus but now that the camera is broken and battery sucks I will be upgrading. I’m still not sure if I’m going to get the 12pro or 12 pro max. I will be getting the grey or graphite color

12 Pro Max has a better camera but I wanted to downsize from 11 Pro Max to 12 Pro until I heard about the sensor. Annoyed that the 12 Pro Max is even bigger than 11 Pro Max which I already think is annoying me.
Same for me. 11PM is already getting large for my pocket. BS that they pulled the better features in Max again.

Not to hijack this thread too much but many in the scientific journal community have commented on the impact to male fertility. Cancer is low but again no need for prolonged exposure and risk if you can avoid it.

As for sitting, I do not find front pocket particularly comfortable for any phone. A wallet is less rigid. But if I am sitting down then unless on a commute (where I'd be holding the phone) there should be a table or desk. Again carrying in my jeans or pants is usually when I'm moving from one spot to another.

Again everyone is different. But my point above was the jump to a screen that 0.3" larger should not make or break the decision on the need to carry a fanny pack (as the OP put it).

As much as I really want a smaller phone, I don‘t want to sacrifice the 3 extra hours of battery life and the much better camera.

I have the 11 Pro Max. Very happy with it. Skipping this upgrade, will wait for the next one which will be less than ten months from when I would get the 12 Max.

Will we really see a big difference between the 11 pm and 12 pro in battery life? Camera sensor doesn't mean anything to me. Size and battery are my two main dilemmas.

Next update will be in at least 11 months.

Apple's battery comparison statistics indicate a 23% improvement in audio listening time, 18% improvement in local video playback time, and 9% improvement in streamed video playback time. I'm not sure positive that these will carry over to equivalent 'real-life' improvements, but I imagine they would.

I do like a long battery and quality camera. Really don't know which one to pick. Going to order the 12 Pro in the morning and decide from there.

Concur and believe I will do the same. Damn battery lol

Pro. Pro Max is way too big. iPhone X is a bit too big for me one handed as it is now. I thought about 12 Mini, but if I am going to keep this iPhone for 2-3 years might as well go for the better model.

My thoughts exactly, I’m sure the average person will not be able to tell the difference in photos taken. Sure, side by side in-depth comparisons may show some advantages for the Max, probably not enough to bother me though. I found light mode great for still photography, but anything you need a quick shot of, forget it.

For some reason this has been an absolutely brutal decision this time around. I’m coming from an 11 Pro Max.

I keep bouncing between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max like a pinball.

Right this very second, leaning toward the smaller Pro.
I'm in the same boat as well, and pre-order is in less than 12 hours! I was dead set on downsizing from the 11PM this year, but I use my phone for photos and videos quite frequently, so I was tempted by the better camera system on the 12PM.

Part of me still wants to downsize due to having an iPad and my MB for bigger screens, but the other part of me wants to have the upgraded camera system on the 12PM especially if I plan on keeping this phone for the next 2 years. The question is if I will really benefit from the bump in low-light images and videos, and if I'll miss the bigger screen everywhere or not.
