I like the idea of metal buttons, but they seem to be very difficult to get right. Most that I’ve had rattled to some degree, and quite a few had sharp edges. Those that didn’t rattle were often overly tight. To me, the material matters less than being light to depress without having too many false presses, while being quiet and not protruding too far from the case. Mous gets this right, as does Apple and just a few others.
It seems like most people who have had that issue had contact with water or extreme heat which caused the adhesive to lose its strength.

Mine has never been wet, and is only bubbling around the charge port (post a few pages back). Since owning the phone it has pretty much been magsafe charged, besides 4 weeks back in February when we were in Norway. Just looking at it, the sides are fine still.
Wow yall are not going to believe what the hell just happened. I bet Amazon lowkey doesn’t believe me either. Lol. If yall were following the thread yall might have seen that I had ordered a Pitaka Summa and Benks Montage case. I wanted to test drive them both and keep the better of the two.
Got home was super excited to unbox and try them out. Opened the Benks first. Ripped open the package from the top and guess what?? No case inside just an empty box. Absolutely ridiculous. I was like there’s no chance in hell that this came factory sealed without a case. It wasnt until I was inspecting the box that on the Benks packaging you can slide the case open from the bottom. So I guess some shady scumbag opened the case from the bottom, stole the case, slid it back up and returned it as unopened. SMH at least Amazon believed me I was so done at this point and didn’t bother with a replacement just got an instant refund.
As for the Pitaka Summa it’s light and feels great. The top area near the front camera and bottom right near the camera control fit great, no sloppiness whatsoever. Cutouts are precise. The only slight gripe I have is the power button is slightly loose when wiggling it left to right. If I shake the phone there is some rattle, is that normal on the Summa? Maybe I just keep it though with normal use don’t think I’ll hear any rattling. But I would have preferred buttons that are just firm all around.

I’ve seen this so many times now and never was it immediate water damage. I guess it just happens over time, with heat and humidity and just Apple‘s way of making cases…. 🙄

As I have replied to your Reddit post. My summa case doesn’t have a rattle on the power button (other buttons slightly ) and they do have a bit of wiggle. Doesn’t bother me though as the fit is great. Although I did have a slight ding on the camera surround and Pitaka refunded me in full and told me to keep the case. Enjoy your summa case and forget the Benks as they look horrid lol 😂 but their screen protectors are top notch.

They have told me they have now gone into production and will be compatible with the 18 series.

I see they are selling the ArmorPro & ArmorPro 600D for the 18 Pro Max/Pro now.
Look exactly the same, though small differences would be difficult to spot.
Looks like it may have the unsticking top issue unless they've sorted it somehow.

Correct.So 17 Pro cases WILL fit 18 Pro?

Do we know for sure that all 17 cases will fit the 18, or only that some newer cases designed specifically for the 18 will also retroactively fit the 17? The plateau and cameras are definitely going to be thicker.

I’m not surprised. I’ve received a handful of cases the past couple of years that were clearly used but sold as new. I’ve also heard anecdotes about people receiving the prior year model in the current box.
It sounds like you received a good copy. I’d keep it. If you exchange it due to the loose power button, the replacement may have bigger issues.

I see they’re listing the cases for the 18 only, not the 18+17 like some. It’ll be interesting to see if some of these cases truly fit both as claimed, or if the fit is compromised on the 17.
Ahh ok gotcha. Yea overall probably worth keeping could def be worse. For $80 I can’t say it doesn’t bother me but at this point with the refund on the empty Benks box and another refund or replacement on this case I’d probably get my account flagged. Along with the Edge that’s 3 cases and one I never even received smh lol
Edit: yea I can hear the rattle off freaking double taps on my screen. This is bad I can’t do it what crap luck I have had

Look at the fudging state of that port. Some folks don’t appreciate good things or look after their devices . If i was Apple i would refuse the warranty claim if customer ask for replacement.
Maybe heat over time? Idk. Anyways I’ve been rocking my Apple silicone case for quite a while now. I love that the silicone cases can easily be cleaned and stay looking fresh if you wipe it down properly.

Bummer. I’m sorry to say, looking for a perfect copy of a case can be very frustrating. I’m embarrassed to say how many cases I’ve returned or given away due to manufacturing defects. QC these days is as bad as I’ve ever seen it, regardless of the manufacturer.

Definitely. I wouldn’t mind some wiggle I was fine with it or if you can hear it while shaking the phone nobody does that. But double tapping and hearing a clanking metal that was too much for me

I go back and forth between the Air and my 17 Pro Max. With the hot weather here in the UK the Air is perfect for fitting in shorts. When I use the Air it only lasts for 3 to 5 days and then I go back to the PM. Love them both so much I kept both. I did intend to send one back!
