Added the Speck Presido Pro black and Smartish Kung Fu Grip black to my collection (based on
https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-iphone-cases/)
1st impressions:
Smartish Kung Fu Grip: wow... this a tiny very nice feeling very grippy case! For a proper price! The sides have a sort of wave-construction of very grippy but not really rubbery material. Feels good. Buttons okay.
Speck Presidio Pro: wohow... that soft matte feeling is seriously great. This case gives a protected feeling without being very bulky - a bit on the wide side however. The back is quite a fingerprint magnet though, looks very oily.
2nd impressions:
Otterbox Symmetry: hard plastic, back is very slippery, buttons great, thick which gives the impression protection is okay. The back is frustrating me however, when on a flat table you can't operate the phone as it slides all over the place.
Caudabe Sheath: sooo thin... nice grippy texture, buttons good, tiny raised lip so if the phone falls on anything but a totally flat surface (so typically on the street) it will damage the screen, case is so thin I wonder what happens when it drops and hits a corner. The "2m drop tested" is a nice claim, but I can't find a (recent) drop test anywhere.
My case ratings based on drop-confidence (of the all cases I have now):
1. Speck Presidio Pro ($$)
1. Otterbox Symmetry ($$)
3. Mous Clarity ($$$)
4. Smartish Kung Fu Grip ($)
4. Tech21 Evo Check ($$)
6. Mous Limitless 3.0 ($$$)
7. Caudabe Sheath ($$)
My overall case ratings:
1. Smartish Kung Fu Grip - grippy, cheap, is it protective enough though?
1. Speck Presidio Pro - grippy, protective, oily back doesn't look good
1. Otterbox Symmetry - grippy (besides back), great buttons, protective
4. Tech21 Evo Check - ok
5. Caudabe Sheath - great feeling case but its just too thin to use without worries
6. Mous Clarity - nah... bulky, sharp edges, expensive
7. Mous Limitless 3.0 - nah... bulky, hard edges, no grip whatsoever, hard plastic, expensive
I now officially stop buying cases for the '11. I think.
