Picked up an Otterbox Symmetry (non-MagSafe interation) for my wife’s 12 PM. Great case. I’ve read a handful of complaints about the buttons but right out of the box they are easy to depress with excellent feedback (I wonder if there are quality control issues with variability between various cases?) The rubberized front lip doesn’t seem as deep as on the XS or 12 PM versions but appears adequate. My wife has sported a Symmetry for the last 3 generations of iPhones and this one has by far the nicest feel in the hand - likely due to the flatter sides

I must have had a dud. The buttons on mine were crap and the case was loosey goosey. Returned it back to Target after one day lol.

What's the verdict on that Pelican? Black or Grey? Sending back or keeping? ?

Dude it is going back. Not worth the money at all. Feels cheap. If I knew it felt like cheapo plastic I would not have even bothered to order it. I was also concerned about scratching the back or sides of the phone, not to mention it makes the 12 PM feel like a beast. Took it out in the sun. No need for pics. It looks super gray in the light.

Now I just need to mail it back. Already got the return label ready lol.

Not sure what to get now. Bullguard leather at some point but it shows pre-order on their website. Weird.

Maybe an Otterbox Defender ftw for a protective case? Not sure.

I kind of predicted this  I did not find it cheap feeling though but have not had my phone back in it since day one.

I'm thinking about trying the Otterbox Aneu next ?

You buy it for $50 and realize it neither a $50 Apple case or a $50 Otterbox.
The OtterBox Aneu doesn't meet my personal requirements for a protective case:
  • A significant front bumper to protect the screen
  • Corner cushioning/reinforcement for drop protection
  • A thick enough case on the back such that there's no lip around the cameras and the case lies flat.
I'm surprised that there are so many OtterBox cases this year that are not protective (and also so many OtterBox cases still not available, at least for the Pro Max). Meanwhile, my UAG Civilian is performing well. I do wish it weren't such a dark color but the protection is more important. :)

Yeah it is just way too much. Really? I thought the plastic felt cheap.

I am wondering about the Speck Presidio Armour Cloud. It sits flat in the back, Speck always seems to have a good front lip... the only question is how slippery it is. I am hoping they come out with a black/silver color way

Just got Totalee limited edition hard clear case. Similar to Caudabe Lucid Clear but thinner. I'm liking it. Yes, it picks up fingerprints but that doesn't bother me one bit. I wipe them off! Great fit. Open button design. Extremely thin and not made from TPU so it probably won't yellow.

Yea, it's not the same plastic as the Pelican cases are made from. I believe they cut corners on this years production.
I should probably send mine back also as I'll never use it. Does Case-Mate pay for return shipping?

Where's my Battersea & Caudabe cases? They are really dragging butt sending them :(

Hi all. Thanks to everyone for posting. Glad to see a community help each other on these forums.

Here’s my history. I purchased the Otterbox Symmetry+ from BestBuy but it was returned. Besides almost being impossible to fit (which isn’t a bad thing but annoying when trying to remove it without feeling like I’d bend the phone) the sides and black were too slick for my liking. All the buttons worked fine and weren’t sticky. Plus I don’t need MagSafe so I’m not losing sleep over it.

Up next was a case bought on Amazon, the ESR Air Armor. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CXS9BPZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

ESR 1.JPG ESR 2.JPG ESR 3.JPG ESR 4.JPG ESR 5.JPG ESR 6.JPG ESR 7.JPG

It was nice, had some good bumpers, and the back is sort of a frosted plastic. Buttons worked fine, and the cutouts looked fine as well. The camera area on the back was a little weird for me though. I think it was deep enough, and with the raised plastic it would wobble just slightly if you press on the upper left of the phone while on its back. I am going to return this though.

Second was a Spigen Neo-Hybrid.

Neo 1.JPG Neo 2.JPG Neo 3.JPG Neo 4.JPG Neo 5.JPG Neo 6.JPG Neo 7.JPG Neo 8.JPG Neo 9.JPG

Overall it felt much better than the ESR. Same issue with the raised camera housing on the back that will lead to wobble but it wasn't as bad and seems to offer a little more protection than the ESR. The texture of the back side is matte and felt really good without being too slippery for my taste. The buttons looked fine and the cutouts were just fine as well. One weird thing is the packaging doesn't specify the 12PM but rather 6.7", but it worked just fine. However, I think I will be returning this because...

I'm sticking with the Spigen Tough Armor.

I've had this on my iPhone 6s+ from which I'm upgrading from, and it just feels good. It's got a nice matte finish, doesn't attract fingerprints, and the cutouts looks great, especially the apple logo on the back. Also, this one seems to have a deeper area for the camera on the back, and doesn't wobble when the upper left if pushed down when on its back. On my work desk it's partially grippy but will slide just fine if I really move it. The front also hugs the edges and has what looks like a good raised edge to protect the screen.

Like I said, I'm not a MagSafe user so that feature wasn't tested on any of these. FWIW, the ESR and Neo Hybrid mention on their pages it will work, but that seems to be hit or miss from what I've read on Amazon.

Hopefully this review helps if you're eyeing these three cases.

All the best, stay safe, and Happy Holidays!

Amazon US has the new Otterbox Defender XT on basically preorder for $45 right now. Shows 1-2 months for shipping. All 3 models are the same price 12 mini, 12, Max

Those unfamiliar with Amazon, they never charge your card until the item ships and you can cancel before it ships with no issues.

It looks like an exact replica of the pursuit from previous years

I hear you on cutting corners. Yeah send it back man. They have a pre-paid return label.

The TPU is loose around the entire phone. No firm areas at all

The MagSafe symmetry is far superior for the same price

Is the phone hard to get in and out of the Magsafe Symmetry like it is with the regular Symmetry?
