To each their own. The phone is gesture based and I like the open bottom for swiping up. I’ve never had a damaged bottom unless it was scratched from a lightning cable.
Yeah, I’m not sure what the issue is with the middle being open so long as the corners are covered. I have a hard time imagining a scenario where there’s an impact on the uncovered area.

I mean I can see it happening with gravel I guess but I don’t use leather cases for the protection. If it gets nicked I don’t worry too much.

Anyone know whether Mous's Clarity 2.0 clear case is worth the $85 or not?

It definitely isn’t.
The glossy sides I don’t like makes the case look cheap, the black MagSafe doesn’t match the black iPhone 14 pro.
The buttons are just cut out style and the back of mine came pre scratched out of the box so that’s been returned. Not worth it just get a cheaper clear case

I dunno if there are others who share my preferences. I’m still putting together a list of detachable folio wallet cases compatible with the 14 Pro Max. My list so far with some help earlier:

A bunch on Etsy

Any others worth mentioning?

Took a small break from my andar and currently wearing this carbon fiber case from eBay. Really like the look and feel. Also the way it covers the bottom and the whole camera. Volume, power button and speaker cutouts are all spot on. There are 4 small notches on the corners which I’m guessing are to make it easier to remove which I like.

there is also geometricgoods.com

as i mentioned a few pages ago, i have the Mous wallet. i just don’t like the feel of it since its plastic, or a synthetic material. but a few days ago i got the Decoded wallet and that one i love. i am not using the back case, currently using a phone rebel flex. the Decoded wallet is real leather. It is super slim and holds the phone tightly. no problems slipping the whole thing in my front pocket. with some wallets that have a loose latch, it catches on my pocket as i try to put it in. the greatest thing about the Decoded wallet is that it is MagSafe inside and out. I know of no other wallets like this. so my MagSafe phone case attaches tightly to the wallet and i can also attach a MagSafe item to the outside back of the wallet. i currently have a super thin MagSafe kickstand on the back and it seems like it is a part of the wallet. everyday just about i stream shows on my iPhone and i can just flip out the kickstand and open the wallet and have a really sturdy stand. some wallets, like the Mous do have a built in stand by dividing the wallet back and allowing it to fold into a stand. i haven't found these to be super sturdy. i have to be careful when placing into a stand because the phone can easily come detached. anyways i recommend the Decoded.

currently using Spigen mag armor. i like how thin it is. the magnet is pretty weak thankfully it attaches well on my esr halolock car mount. there are times it is slippery. still searching for a thin protective magsafe black/smoked clear case.
the tech21 evo tint is thick for my taste. would like the case to be dimension like the spigen. is apple leather ok? can anyone recommend a case?
thank you

So you're saying the ad pictures are accurate? Where they feature a MagSafe case on one side and a MagSafe charger on the other? This is why I'm waiting for the navy blue one to get restocked. I think the blue will look good with the deep purple.

Question since you have one already. Can you use Apple's MagSafe cases with the wallet?

Follow up on my Pitaka MagEZ Case 3: In my original post I talked about how much I liked it, but that it did have a very slight manufacturing defect wherein the one corner didn’t quite curve up and over the bottom right of the phone. (A normal person would not have even noticed.) My concern was that a drop on that corner could crack the screen. Of course with a case this minimal, drop protection isn’t the main purpose or my primary concern, but why potentially give up the protection that I have? I emailed Pitaka and they sent me a new case (didn’t have to return the one I have) as well as a ‘carbon-fiber pen not for sale’ which is actually not bad.

So, just a shout out to their customer service. Still really liking this case, and now my only complaint is the fingerprints. And as I mentioned in a different post, that’s an issue I’m trying to mitigate 👍

yes. i am not using their case, although it’s very nice. i’m using a phone rebel flex case with the wallet. i also used for a day or so my apple leather case with the wallet. their ad pictures are accurate. the wallet holds the iphone tightly in the wallet and my magsafe kickstand holds tightly to the back.
