I believe the adhesive is there to prevent the Snap from coming off the phone/case when pulling away from a MagSafe charger. The adhesive is also supposed to be reusable, where you can take it off one case and use with another. Can be rinsed under water to clean and “reactivate” the adhesive.
It looks like it’s a 2 part thing from the looks. First there’s the magnet ring that gets adhesived on. Then that acts as the magnet for the actual grip. Versus the popsocket where it’s one piece no adhesive needed.
No I don’t think it’s two parts. It may come with a magnet ring, for phones which don’t have a built in MagSafe magnet. But the Snap itself, has both magnet and adhesive.
Only the stock one that came with the phone.Hopefully you still have some Apple cables on hand
Yea but my question is if you’re familiar with the popsocket, does the oh snap work the same way? Do I need to adhesive it to make it work?
The weight would most likely bother me because I am used to cases under 40g. My max sweet spot is upper 30g (I have Pitaka MagEZ 4 which is 18-20g). But if the case is slim with a kicka** form factor, I may consider it.
The frosted gen5 looks 🔥 though!
I believe it will work without the adhesive, but if using it like Phone > Snap > MagSafe accessory/charger then the Snap may come off the phone when you go to pull the MagSafe accessory/charger off. The Snap may stay on the MagSafe accessory instead of the phone, because both sides of the Snap are magnetic. That’s the reason for the adhesive.
When using a popsocket you can’t use a MagSafe accessory like a MagSafe over the popsocket, which I’m ok with. The popsocket sticks to my Schpeegen Mag like glue. When I need to use my Apple MagSafe portable charger I would just take the popsocket off, no big big deal.
this is exactly correct
you can use the snap like a popsocket and not take the film off the adhesive and just use the magnet, but it is designed to not need to take off when you use magsafe accessories. thats where the adhesive comes in so it doesn't come off every time you take your phone off the charger, etc.

ive been debating getting the pitaka magEZ 5, but I already have the EZ 4. I noticed last night that the EZ4 is kinda sharp by the charging port while holding the phone with your pinky finger. I took off the case today and it is so great using the phone without a case.
ill have to do a top 5 after I get my nomad sport. ive never had a nomad case before, this will be my first one. I love leather, esp horween, but I didnt really like that the nomad leather case wasn't leather all around. after reading this thread tho, I understand why its not. I’m still waiting for bullstrap to send me my exchanged slate case for the Sienna case I sent back...

According to Tech Tee’s review on EZ 5, it should be less sharp and also easier to remove. Sport is on my wishlist too, just hoping for a new color that I’ll like. Hope u get your Slate soon, it’s a really nice color from pics. I may try to get that color under my Dune warranty, if not then still i’d probably buy it. Loving my Bullstrap case.
I’m reactivating the adhesive now because I’ve been switching cases a lot. I’ll let you know how it does.

very easy. it has a rubber inside. the version for the 14 series was two separate pieces (the aluminum and rubber) this time it seems to be just one. the blue at least has no weight. last year i had the black and i remember it heavier. maybe black is a different material.
it’s one piece. you don’t have to use the adhesive. just don’t peel off the protective sheet. it attaches to magsafe just as a pop socket. i really like it. btw it doesn’t come with a separate metal ring for non magsafe cases. you’d just need the adhesive for sure in that case and have to figure out the alignment. with magsafe it’s easy, even if you use the adhesive, it aligns itself on your case.
Ok got the Frosty a little while ago. I have to say I’m extremely impressed, beyond my expectations. I’m going to make a bold unseen assumption. The Frosty has to be the Crème de la crème of frosted clear hybrid cases. The quality of this case is top f’ing notch. Even though the non Max weighs 44g doesn’t even feel like it’s heavy even a little bit. Feels so good in the hand. I like the frosty back which you know is frosty by touching it. The buttons, the fit, the quality.

But my cables don’t fit.
And even though it has matrix grips, it’s still slippery to me. I think it’s because the bumper and matrix spikes are a really hard compound without much “give”. I was told that the Nomad Sport bumper as an example is “soft”. I think this is the first year PR has matrix grips? Man can’t imagine how slippery it was without them.
Now the cables which would be 3 6 footers I might be able to find at work in the lost and found. But I’m not going to force myself to be satisfied with gripage even though the frosty is absolutely the crème de la crème.

This perfectly summarizes my thoughts when I had the frosty in my hands. Felt so premium and I wanted to love it. However I have some cables that weren’t fitting with the small port opening. I could get new cables but didn’t want to spend some more just to justify the case. So I returned the case. Maybe if they go on a bigger sale in the future I will get it again!
Just got the blue Mous today. I'll report back on the back showing anything. The buttons on this thing are amazing. Really makes me realize how bad the buttons on the synthesis are, especially the action button. The alignment magnet came out the synthesis again when I was taking it off
. Don't know if I want to do a third replacement.
