The only obvious change is the addition of the microfiber lining. My hypothesis is that they had to make room for the lining by thinning the back material, which could theoretically cause this problem. It’s only a guess.
I think you’re right. Here’s a good article from Caudabe. My take is from the article is “and then apply the microfiber in a way that wouldn't weaken the case's structure or reveal the unsightly contours of the MagSafe magnet underneath.” By doing this they shouldn’t have used lining in the inside because it proves it compromised the back.

Caudabe are sending me the updated (hopefully) Sheath, will give it a good go.

Also Benks have sent me a MagClap Mist as after they offered a different case when I emailed about the poor fitting Vintage Leather. Same sides, camera ring and buttons to their Armor Pro which is my favourite and most used case this gen. Cool.

The new version Sheath I have the buttons are good. @acbarn has reported the condom ring though. I used a pop socket for about 24 hours on mine and can see a VERY slight condom ring forming but not as bad as @acbarn. It’s hardly noticeable.

I don’t use MagSafe stuff much so I’m good with my Sheath for now. However if I used MagSafe stuff a lot then a different story.

As I said and @acbarn said in above post Caudabe compromised the back by using lining inside. They messed up what could be a great case for those that use MagSafe a lot. There intentions were good going with a lining. I think with the Sheath you can’t fix it permanently unless it’s an almost totally new mold without specs to include the liner but I could be wrong.

I use a Spigen MagSafe stand (non charging) on my desk and a stand with Apple MagSafe inserted on my bedside unit.
We'll see how it does, don't mind a little mark but the one I have now is very noticeable and ugly and therefore not used.

Clayton & Crume Olive Case arrived finally, and it is a looker.
Great fit and feel, clicky buttons, overall I am amazed!
Not a big fan of the forced patina, but I like the way it looks, so it doesn't bother me that much tbh.

I have read that the black and grey Caudabe sheaths will be getting new updates. Any info on the blue for Iphone 15 pro max?

I have emailed support but I have not heard back from them since its the holiday season and I would like to make the purchase now

Beware that I have one of the updated Sheaths in black and it is starting to show the MagSafe indentation on the back after just one day. The buttons are improved though.

Thanks for the heads up. I am still pretty old school and uses wireless charging and cable for now, but who knows in the future hehe.

One thing i noticed is that the buttons have open slits, which dust/dirt might get into. TBF, I am very happy with my nomad sport case. Its light at 40g, slim but not the grippiest at the back. The sheath will be 6g heavier which I reckon wont make much of a difference but looks like with a much superior grip at the back.

Having experience with the Sheath and Synthesis…

The Sheath has the same consistent grip all over the case. Still grippy for me.

The Synthesis has matrix grips on the sides and the rest of the case is slippery. The Synthesis needs those matrix grips or it would be slippery. The matrix grips for me are more grippy than the Sheath but you only get that better grip on the sides.

I like both kinds of grip so for me it’s a toss up.

Nomad’s buttons are among the best this year imo. If you love their buttons, you might be a little disappointed in Caudabe’s buttons as they’re a bit stiff due to the material. The revised version buttons are supposedly a bit better but then, bigger slits.

To me the revised buttons are significantly better. Tactile and I can hear all buttons click from arms length.

That’s disappointing that their revised Sheath is still showing MagSafe indent, even slightly. I’d actually been trying to get a mark shown on mine (OG button cover v) by leaving my MagSafe PopWallet on it so that I could get a replacement with the improved buttons, but mine hasn’t shown any. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

On my copy, the volume buttons are now on par with the power button, but the Action button is still slightly mushy. Not a big deal but noticeable if you’re a button fanatic like me.

Do you use a MagSafe charger? I’m wondering if the heat from charging is contributing to the issue.

I do use MagSafe charging during the night. The Sheath has been used on it just a handful of times. Seeing that your ring was showing after just one night is surprising.

Yeah, I was surprised, really thought they had it fixed.
My post 10,936 I don’t think they can unless they thicken the back and get rid of the felt liner.

Read this article and you’ll see how the felt liner idea back fired.

However a quote from the article.

“Part of the challenge with the iPhone 15 series Sheath arose due to the flexible nature of ShockLite, the proprietary polymer we use. If the inner wall of Sheath was not sufficiently thick, an imprint of the magnet would appear on the back of the case. On the other hand, if the wall was too thick, the strength of the embedded magnets would be drastically impaired. A difference of even 0.1mm could have a significant impact.”

Update on Otterbox core.

I really like it! The buttons are nice and clicky, I like the softness of the case. I do like Synthesis but feels it’s just a bit too harsh sometimes.
I like the higher lip actually so feels more protected and feels quite light.

Overall, this is probably now going to end up my day to day case unless the updated Synthesis is a lot better
I am thinking of getting the Core. Where did you buy yours from? Do you recommend the case? I want something with good grip and protection.
