True, they’re very different. I guess it’s just a matter of which case I’d personally get more use out of. I’m leaning more towards andar because I already have the Mous and caudabe cases, which are sort of the more protective cases.
Do you have any leather cases yet? If not I def say the Andar

after forgetting I even bought it since I’ve been in my phonerebel or Andar I’ve decided to pass it forward. $60 shipped if anyone wants the bandwerk with apple logo. Box and all that included. No scratches that I can see. Hmu 15PM.
I would have purchased this in a second if you hadn't put that apple logo on the back. Gret deal though, hopefully somebody will pick it up.

The Sheath seems slightly thicker, and their TPU formulation seems more dense than the silicone used in the Apple case, which probably explains the difference in weight. I have yet to see drop tests of both of these cases on the same phone, so it’s difficult to say, but intuitively the Caudabe appears to be slightly more protective. Neither are what I would consider very protective cases.

Have you been running the Sheath, and if so, have you seen any sign of the MagSafe indentation? I contacted Caudabe this morning with hopes of returning mine for a refund because of this issue.

Caudabe claims 6.6ft drop protection but Apple doesn’t claim anything.

6.6ft is good for me which is about chest height.

After having my popsocket on overnight when I first received the Sheath I’ve gotten a VERY slight indentation. You really have to look to notice. I usually don’t use the pop socket but wanted to test it. I don’t use MagSafe either. I’m ok with it as it is now. I really like the Sheath. For those that are MagSafe heavy it’s definitely an issue.

I think all us who like the Sheath should contact Caudabe and help them out. Seems like past Sheaths haven’t had the problem. It’s their flagship case too.

Here’s an article from Caudabe that I theorize back fired on them implementing a liner. They compromised the back of the case. Their intentions were good but it back fired.

What’s your take?

My opinion - they f*cked up. Sort of like what dbrand did with the Ghost. The Ghost is 🔥 case. I love mine. Amazing thin form factor design with great grip. And a looker 👀 The scuffs/scratches are minor. And I get a new one in April. You can’t beat that!

My take is that they need to do much more thorough product testing and up their QC game. In the meantime, as a regular consumer, not a beta tester, I’ll vote with my dollars.

Or if you don’t mind open bottom, I just got an email from Bullstrap they’re having a flash sale 25% off (on top of their store wide 15% off). Code: “CHRISTMASCASH” expires tonight

Edit to quote another member who tried the code:
flash sale is only an additional 10% off the current 15% off and it’s not even 25% total because the additional 10% off is taken from the already discounted $75 price

Yeah, leaving the QC testing up to the consumer leaves a bad taste in my mouth and real bad first impression.

That’s a good deal. Do you have a bull strap? If so, which do you like more?

I do. I prefer the leather and feel of my Bullstrap over Andar. Andar is a great case, oil waxed leather, perfect fit and fantastic color. Bullstrap leather feels softer, smells stronger, and I believe it patinas faster due to no coating. Their warranty is a big factor for me (I keep my phone abt 3 years). I quite like the swipability of open bottom, but if you’re one who uses their pinky to prop it might be bothersome esp on a pro max.

I’m by no means a leather expert; these are just my observations & opinions :)

I agree. However DBrand messed up in a similar way with the Ghost. Difference is they admitted it and are in the process of new material and will be sending out a free v2 to those that bought a v1.

I am not sure if Caudabe said they were going to address the condom ring issue but they did say they were addressing the button issue which they did.

Interesting! Thank you for your input. “BOXINGDAY23” on andars website actually gets you 20% off. Leaning more andar based off price, not sure I wanna spend another $70 on a case since I just bought the MagEZ 5 not too long ago.

Not a good look for either of them, but I like the way Dbrand is handling it with transparency.

I was told directly that the MagSafe indentation issue was resolved. I would not have ordered another Sheath otherwise.

I totally get that. Good deal. Like I said, Andar is a great case. I think you’ll be happy with it. Any idea on what color you’ll go with?

If it wasn’t sold out, I’d probably go for the Stone gray, but if I do buy one, I’ll probably go with that turquoise. I know you have it, and it’s gorgeous.

Man I’ve been bouncing cases around like crazy and man the Phone Rebel is so close to being perfect but I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I’ve been getting pops and creaks out the case when I move it a certain way, very very small issue but it’s something I’ve recognized. I know someone said it in here before but I do think the Phone Rebel could be a little “over” engineered.

Part reason why I put the Sheath at #1, checks all the boxes and simple.

FYI, the Bullstrap flash sale is only an additional 10% off the current 15% off and it’s not even 25% total because the additional 10% off is taken from the already discounted $75 price. Not that it‘s a bad deal, but there are plenty of 10% off codes floating around already, so this is nothing extra really.

Ooo good catch. I tried to use the 25% but it was not stackable with rewards points. I thought it would stack with the sitewide sale. Thx for pointing that out

I had pops and creaks in two copies of the Gen 5. I also noticed that the hard surfaces around the camera and logo insert are raised above the microfiber lining, which seems like a design faux pas that may eventually cause scuffs on the phone. That‘s unfortunate because it’s a superb case otherwise.

Regarding the Sheath, I received one of the new versions with the updated buttons and MagSafe indentation fix. Unfortunately, it seems they didn’t totally fix the indentation issue. After just one night on a Belkin charger the indentation has shown up. It will undoubtedly get worse over time which happened with the other copies I‘ve already returned.

Posted this in Caudabe thread as well.

So I just received revised Sheaths (gray and black) the buttons are amazing but the gray sheath you can totally see the MagSafe ring out of the box.

The black looks fine but it seems like it slowly comes back when MagSafe is being used according to what people have mentioned.

It is so frustrating as I want to love the Sheath this year so bad.

I have to crown the Synthesis as #1 personally between the two. With these more tactile buttons on the Synthesis it’ll be the perfect case for me.

Bummer. Please let us know how the revised buttons are on the Synthesis.

Tee do you have the issue with MagSafe indentation on the Sheath?

Yes like you said the Sheath checks the most boxes out of all the cases I had and tried.
