UAG XTE Plasma in the house
Bad A@@ looking case but the back is glossy which I don't like :(
I thought it was frosted
I’ve been eager to try this but I think your review might sway me to stay away. I love the look but think they should have made the sides have the monarch honeycomb at least for 70 beans. Let us know how you feel after some more usage!

Otterbox symmetry
Buttons were great but case overall just felt blah
Pobably why it's the only case I have kept, also good edge grip, easy on the pinky, no smudges or c-ring on the back, can take wet/sweaty hands, good magsafe.
Hides scratches good.
But yeah looks a bit blah lol.

I recently got a few cases to try out for my natty 15pm

Spigen aramid Enzo
This case feels great in the hand while being slim, MagSafe is good, fit and buttons are good but it’s slippery

Pitaka pro
This case feels super premium but I don’t like the squared edges. Wish it followed more of the phone contour. But MagSafe and buttons are great. It’s a mixed bag for me

Spigen tough armor
I’m usually a sucker for this case and while it fits good and the buttons are pretty good it just makes the phone feel so much wider and the cutout on the bottom for the charge port is angled so it hurts the pinky.

Spigen clear ultra hybrid
This is the case I have been using the most since I got the phone. MagSafe is amazing and it’s slim and fits great. So far it’s not yellowing either. It’s comfortable in the hand and to me is grippy (surprisingly)

Nomad modern leather
I liked the leather, the rubber indents on the sides and the buttons but the bottom cutouts were huge and uncomfortable and the case made the phone feel really wide

Otterbox symmetry
Buttons were great but case overall just felt blah

Speck grip case
I liked this case a lot but the mushy buttons ruined it for me

I have a nomad sport case on order and I’m thinking of getting a sheath again but we’ll see. I also usually run a leather case but still undecided between Bullstrap and Andar so haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I really like to only have a few cases. I just feel like I have been disappointed in cases this year so far.
Great rundown. I agree with a lot of what you said. The symmetry is a great case but looks plain compared to years past, almost like a no name case.

Don’t get me wrong I liked the case but it was something about the back material I didn’t like. I actually prefer the older symmetry design from the 13 series. I tired 2 for my 14 and 1 for the 15 and they either bowed out at the charge port or the volume buttons so I kinda gave up after that

I had that sag with 2 nomad moderns. My symmetry was a bit bowed at the charge port but came good after a few weeks, no sagging anywhere now. I like a case with good side grips and smooth back.

Nomad magnetic leather back. Not really a “case” but It’ll prevent the camera getting scratched up from sliding on a surface. Wouldn't recommend this without AC+

I wish it was 70AUD! That’s $45 USD, right? I got this a couple years ago when it was $100 usd
whoops I meant $170AUD, my Bellroy was about $80 has lasted years, good wallets better than their iPhone cases.
Daughter has the card case though and likes it, bit thick but holds 3 in the back.

Since getting the 15PM at launch, I've been searching for the perfect minimalist aramid fiber case. Qualities that matter to me:

- Lightweight (willing to sacrifice camera ring for this - it's really unnecessary with sapphire lenses imho anyway)
- Has rounded edges that match the rounded edges of the new 15 models
- Has decent grip
- Is easy to remove and put back on
- Minimal lip (no lip is better - I never put my down my phone on it's front)
- Magsafe magnets embedded is a plus, but doesn't really matter that much with a very thin case

I don't really care about drop protection. What I'm looking for is a minimalist case that basically just adds grip while also adding slight protection. The plastic cases like the ones from totalee and peel have always stretched out/deformed on me in the past and I know that aramid fiber won't do that. I've had the slimmest pitaka case on all of my phones since the X, and never had any damage from drops.

That being said, I've tried the Pitaka MagEZ Case 4 (not light at all) and Case 5 and neither of them have rounded edges to match the rounded edges of the phones, so it feels like holding an iPhone 12 through 14. Not only that, but the new Case 5 is not nearly as grippy as the classic Pitaka cases. Honestly, if the Case 5 were as grippy as the legacy Pitaka cases, I probably would've kept it because the quality is top notch, it's very light weight and I'm tired of looking for something that checks all the boxes.

I've tried the new Benks Armor Air Montage and it too does not have rounded edges. It's grippier than the MagEZ Case 5, but also feels a lot heavier (I think because of the bulky metal camera ring).

So far, the best thing I've found by far is this 0.5mm thin Memumi Aramid Fiber case, which I have been using since launch. It's incredibly lightweight, has totally rounded edges and excellent grip. However, the lip is a little more pronounced than I'd prefer and it does not have any magnets (probably not necessary anyway), but the biggest issue is that it's damn near impossible to remove without pushing on the camera lenses. Every time I take the case off or put it on, I'm worried it's going to damage a button or I'm going to push too hard on a camera lens. Regardless, nothing else seems to be able to compare. I tried other cases by Memumi as well, but none matched the in-hand feel of this one.

Any ideas for others that might be worth considering? I was looking at the Thinborne, which seems to have rounded edges and be relatively light while having the cutouts to make it more easily removable. Anybody tried this one or have any other ideas?

Here’s my daughter’s pink 15 with an otterbox defender. She’s not happy with the color because “it’s not pink enough” but I think it looks absolutely bangin’! I love it so much. Told her she’s not getting a different case so she better get used to it 😂 So pretty!

It's soo hard to find the right case for the 15 Pro Max.

I have tried the Caudabe Sheath, Phone Rebel Frosty, Mous Limitless and the Ryan London leather case.

I find the Phone Rebel frosty too slippery, and the I don't really like the feel of the Sheath anymore. At first I liked it, but to me it feels like rough sand paper.

I found the Mous Limitless case to have sharp edges and not comfortable to hold for long periods.

I want to try the Pitaka Pro but I have heard the case is slippery and has sharp edges as well.
Running out of options now.

Agreed!

I can't seem to find a grippy case that offers good protection. As the 15 Pro Max is a big phone, you need a case that offers good grip and comfortability to deal with with the size. I have tried the Mous Limitless, Caudabe Sheath, Phone Rebel Frosty and the Ryan London. Debating if I should order the Nomad Sport.

Well, I held out about two months without buying a new case, before getting the itch again. I even stayed away from here for awhile to resist temptation.

Eventually, I succumbed, since I didn't have a frosted-type case (I do have the great $20 Spigen clear case, the first case I got for my 15PM). Having a couple of the other Zaggs, I was intrigued by the Milan Snap in "Ocean", and snagged it on an Amazon sale+coupon a week ago.

Reading around here (mistake!), I found out about the Lucky Coin turquoise ("Navy Blue") leather case, and got that in yesterday, as well. While I had liked the look of the similar teal-ish Andar case, I am not inclined to ever, ever give them any more of my money, after dealing with their customer service back in December.

The Zagg is a bit brighter in real life than these quick natural light photos show; I tried adding one in artificial light.

I can't seem to find a grippy case that offers good protection.
If those are your two top priorities, the aramid Phone Rebel has extreme grip and protection in a relatively thin form factor. It’s heavy though, and of course aramid shows fingerprints.

I’d suggest giving up on the search for the holy grail phone case, which doesn’t exist. Every single one has some trade offs; your best bet is to identify your personal priorities and make your choice base upon those.

Got the Gripmunk today for my 15PM to replace the Apple silicone that they refused to warranty.

First impressions Gripmunk vs. the Apple case:

MagSafe- while I didn’t get the MagSafe animation when I put on the Gripmunk (I did expect this), I did see it when putting the phone w/Gripmunk on my Belkin 2 in 1 charger so I’m assuming I’m getting the full 15 watts (the Belkin is Apple authorized for the full 15 watts). The magnet strength on the charging stand is a noticeably stronger than the Apple case which was already fine. I’m guessing the silicone case would better hold a wallet (since the back is grippy), and the Gripmunk would better hold a battery pack (due to the increased magnet strength) but don’t have either to confirm.

Feel in hand - I read someone compare the Gripmunk to the feel of a nice DSLR camera - I agree and this was great to confirm - I like it much better than the Apple case. The Gripmunk has very minimal grip on the back (unlike the silicone) though but I don’t think this will impact my usage case due to how I usually hold the phone. First impression of pinky comfort is way better with the Gripmunk but time will tell if this will hold.

Buttons: Apple is better across all buttons but the Gripmunk is good. I’d say the power button on the Gripmunk is just about as good as the Apple, volume buttons are slightly less clicky. The Action button on the Gripmunk I’ll say should be improved (it feels fine - I’d just like to hear a click).

Fit - I am not sure yet - but it seems Apple has the edge. I do prefer the bottom cutouts on the Gripmunk - I think it is preferable to have complete cutouts for the speaker and microphone vs. holes - maybe the sound is slightly better? Not sure yet. I think the screen bezel with a case on appears smaller with the Gripmunk but again a first impression here - no case is still awesome for that near full screen feel of the 15pm.

Price - I got the Gripmunk for $15 on Amazon on a lightning deal vs. $49 at the Apple Store for the silicone (again for this price you’d think Apple would have exchanged the case for something that costs them a few dollars).

Overall - day 1 - even if the silicone was durable and Apple honored their warranty I would choose the Gripmunk.

I don't think there's any way Apple silicone is worth $49. I see on Amazon that I can get Like New for about $26. Do you think it's worth that?

Nope - the fact that Apple won’t support the case, and it is not pinky friendly is a good reason to stay away in my opinion (unless you try it out and really like the feel of their silicone or love the look).

I’ve gotten all three and I’m not sure if I have the revised Sheath or Synthesis, but the buttons on all three are good. I’d give the slight nod to the Gripmunk on buttons if I had to choose. I just don’t like the look of the Gripmunk so it’s been in a drawer for months now. Caudabe still does minimalist design the best from what I’ve seen.

The Pitaka Pro is a beautiful case, but it is not grippy, has sharp edges as you mentioned, and it is the worst fingerprint magnet I’ve encountered this year.
I agree. I was surprised with how bad it was with fingerprints. That was the last Aramid case I’m going to try.
