Man, I was going to pop the Nomad Rugged Orange case back on, since it had been awhile, and for the first time break out the matching Nomad Orange watch band I had gotten in last December.

Now, I own the Ultra 2 watch, and for those unaware, there's a known issue with the installation of Nomad bands on the Ultra - they've got an installation video up, and they sent an email after the order. I knew about it well before ordering, since a number of people had run into it.

So I followed the instructions, but still had an issue with the center lug latch. Oh, no(mad) - it broke, as it often has been reported to do.

Think my racing yellow watch band (also never used yet) is going to stay in the box, and potentially get sold off o_O Still love their cases, though...

I’ve got five of their sport bands and luckily haven’t had this happen yet, but it’s ridiculous they don’t point this out until after you purchase, isn’t it?

Here’s a thought…maybe fix the issue, Nomad? $5 bands from Amazon don’t have this issue, yet a $60 band does. That’s not really acceptable.

I’ve received an inordinate number of defective products from Nomad. In general I like their designs, but they could stand to work on their quality control.

I complained about it in the Patina Proud thread already but I’m annoyed Ryan London goes so long in between getting stock for cases. I like both of their brown open bottom cases for the 15 Pro but they aren’t shipping until late April 🤦‍♂️

$5 bands on Amazon are really just $1.25 bands from Aliexpress, and they most certainly have this issue, along with others. And, bonus, those will actually rip at the lug, too! They're just thin and cheap silicone.

Not to say it doesn't happen with Apple OEM, but I've had over 300 first party bands in my years and I've not experienced it once.

The closest I’ve encountered to what you’re describing is the Pitaka Pro, which on the 15PM weighs 40g. It’s more angular on the back edges though, perhaps more similar to the 14 than the 15 form factor.
Thanks. I’ve tried it and unfortunately found it far too angular. If only they had followed the shape of the iPhone better then it would potentially be a great case

Are you aware of any DIY fixes for the action button on the Iphone 15 Pro Nomad Rugged? It's not tactile and registers on the slightest touch. (almost as if it was half-pressed in constantly). I looked it up and this seems to be a common issue with this case.
If not, I will return it - do you have any suggestions for a case that ticks similar boxes?

- good grip
- (good) Magsafe
- raised edges on the back OR adequate back protection otherwise, eg. additional padding for shock absorption
- raised lips on the front
- raised lips around camera
- solid protection from regular drops onto pavement, tiles, etc., nothing extreme, but I don't want to have my phone destroyed if it slips out of my pocket
- ideally not a fingerprint magnet
- not transparent
- action button

I was looking at the following but each have some issues:
- UAG Civilian: looks good, solid protection rating, but based on reviews, it has abysmal magnets
- Otterbox Symmetry: reports of people using this case and getting their back glass shattered from a waist-height drop is not very encouraging. It does look like a simple, thin layer of policarbonate on the back after all, with zero padding
- Spigen Tough Armor: this would have been my next pick, but that Apple-logo cutout is unforgivable
- Otterbox Commuter: not available in my country
- Rebel Gen 5: not available in my country
- Speck Presidio Grip/Pro: fingerprint magnets, not a fan of removing the bottom camera lip

Contact Nomad, they’ll send you a modified button that solves the issue.

How about the Benks Armor Pro or the Spigen Enzo Aramid? Those two are not as angular as the Pitaka Pro. You can always try them out from Amazon.

Thanks, I'll give it a go, but I don't expect they will ship anything internationally also I bought the case from a local reseller not their website.
Maybe they can send your button with their next shipment to the reseller.

I've been waiting for months for the white Nomad Sport case to come back in stock but I don't think it ever will.
Not sure I like the Coastal Rock and I suspect the black will show fingerprints. Does anyone here have the black Sport case?

Have any of you had fitment issues with the nomad sport? I have issues with case imperfections and notice that the case is uneven across the top of the phone for me to where I can see some of the titanium peek through on the left side of the top speaker where the bumper doesn't entirely cover it. Drives me mad, otherwise I really like the case.

I have the black and coastal rock. Both show fingerprints but the black is far worse for it. About as bad as any case I’ve had when it comes to fingerprints.

Darker the case, the worse the prints

Yeah and it being a shiny plastic just makes it that much worse for prints.

@psp123 They told me they aren't restocking the white
Guess I will look for something else. Thanks for the replies.

I had this exact issue with my first coastal rock case. Made warranty claim and they send me out a new case. The replacement case was really loose around the buttons. I made another warranty claim and they sent me a third case. The third case is perfect. Each claim was resolved and new case shipped in 24-48 hours.

I'd like a white case but after it took me three cases to get one good one I'm very hesitant to buy another one. Maybe if it ever goes on sale for $35 again I'll try my luck.

Since getting the 15PM at launch, I've been searching for the perfect minimalist aramid fiber case. Qualities that matter to me:

- Lightweight (willing to sacrifice camera ring for this - it's really unnecessary with sapphire lenses imho anyway)
- Has rounded edges that match the rounded edges of the new 15 models
- Has decent grip
- Is easy to remove and put back on
- Minimal lip (no lip is better - I never put my down my phone on it's front)
- Magsafe magnets embedded is a plus, but doesn't really matter that much with a very thin case

I don't really care about drop protection. What I'm looking for is a minimalist case that basically just adds grip while also adding slight protection. The plastic cases like the ones from totalee and peel have always stretched out/deformed on me in the past and I know that aramid fiber won't do that. I've had the slimmest pitaka case on all of my phones since the X, and never had any damage from drops.

That being said, I've tried the Pitaka MagEZ Case 4 (not light at all) and Case 5 and neither of them have rounded edges to match the rounded edges of the phones, so it feels like holding an iPhone 12 through 14. Not only that, but the new Case 5 is not nearly as grippy as the classic Pitaka cases. Honestly, if the Case 5 were as grippy as the legacy Pitaka cases, I probably would've kept it because the quality is top notch, it's very light weight and I'm tired of looking for something that checks all the boxes.

I've tried the new Benks Armor Air Montage and it too does not have rounded edges. It's grippier than the MagEZ Case 5, but also feels a lot heavier (I think because of the bulky metal camera ring).

So far, the best thing I've found by far is this 0.5mm thin Memumi Aramid Fiber case, which I have been using since launch. It's incredibly lightweight, has totally rounded edges and excellent grip. However, the lip is a little more pronounced than I'd prefer and it does not have any magnets (probably not necessary anyway), but the biggest issue is that it's damn near impossible to remove without pushing on the camera lenses. Every time I take the case off or put it on, I'm worried it's going to damage a button or I'm going to push too hard on a camera lens. Regardless, nothing else seems to be able to compare. I tried other cases by Memumi as well, but none matched the in-hand feel of this one.

Any ideas for others that might be worth considering? I was looking at the Thinborne, which seems to have rounded edges and be relatively light while having the cutouts to make it more easily removable. Anybody tried this one or have any other ideas?
I haven't gotten any responses on this, but I do have an update.

Since posting, I tried out the Thinborne and Latercase (now that Amazon has it and it's free to return).

The Latercase fits VERY well and feels excellent in hand. However, the lack of MagSafe is much more noticeable than in the ultra thin Memumi I've been using, which is a dealbreaker.

Regardless, the Thinborne feels EXACTLY like the original thin Pitaka cases and I would love it if not for a defective corner that doesn't fit on the phone (I'm swapping it out from Amazon). It's definitely not as thin as the Memumi, Latercase or Pitaka Case 5, but barely seems to weigh more and is actually a bit lower profile in some ways. It perfectly mimics the edge rounding of the IP15 edges and just feels excellent in hand with by far the strongest MagSafe magnets I've seen, and an excellent grip. And when I say that it feels exactly like the original Pitaka cases, that's a great thing - those cases were incredible! I dropped several iPhone pro models on pavement or tile floors in those cases and never once had more than just a ding on the case itself. I guess we'll see how the replacement unit is.

I'm really surprised that so few aramid fiber cases match the rounded edges of the new phones that makes them so much more pleasant feeling in-hand. Based on Pitaka's quality, I'm kind of shocked that they, of all companies, didn't get it right on any of their several "Case" series models. But more than anything else, considering what all of these aramid fiber cases cost, I'm shocked that so many customers seem to be okay with the harsh edges on this generation's models. Maybe I'm just picky, but if I'm dropping $50+ on a minimalistic phone case, I want it to be truly minimalistic and not alter the shape of the phone in any way.

Latest Sheath in today. So far, so good. Not seeing the ring on the back but I haven't put the Magsafe charger to it yet  Also the buttons are much nicer with huge ole slits on the sides. UAG still has them beat for HUGE slits..

So Cal
i admit to being slightly ocd, improving with age. for those that complain of finger smudges on the backs of cases, how do you deal with the front screen of your iphone? if the back of your case has smudges then the front has even more. i always have a small microfiber cloth on me all of the time. just curious.

I’ve carried a small microfiber cloth in my pocket since first getting an iPhone and iPad many years ago. I have a stack of small cloths in the drawer where I keep my cases.
