my 2.5D works fine with the Sheath and the Base Grip, but those are the only two cases i've tried/own. i've heard that this same 2.5D works fine with other cases including the Symmetry which is on my radar. i believe the 3D is a bit more temperamental ...

for ultimate compatibility you can go for a lower coverage MaxBoost which i've used...but that can have a slight rainbow effect due to its "exact width" of the visible screen.

I’m on day 3 with the SS, the Sheath is lurking in the drawer but I’m impressed by the SS. The Symmetry is getting jealous too....I gave up on the Pursuit as it bubbled every full screen protector I tried it with.

They’ve all worked with my iCarez except for the Otterbox Pursuit.

Well In the mean time while I wait for my updated Caudabe, I finally jumped on the apple leather case taking advantage of best buys stacking discount. I stopped using it when the 6 came out because I can’t stand the bottom cut out. Loved it on the 5S. Mannnn the buttons and minimalism of the case are to die for. I still hate the bottom cut out but can’t get myself to take the case off lol

My updated Sheath just arrived, so hard not taking the SS off and seeing how the new one fits :)

I got my Simply Carbon Fiber in. Love the grip on this one! However I got the non Armor and this thing does not look very protective. The lip on the front is shallower than the Sheath. So I’m going to return that one and get the Armor one. But it’s looking like a winner so far.

Dang it! Thought you did the Armor one. Good to hear tho. The grip is good? Great to hear.

What provides the grip?

The Sheath fits perfect and feels absolutely fantastic in hand. The only downside is it offers little to no drop protection and it does not lay flat on it's back, rocks back and forth because of the camera hump.

Where is my Simply Carbon Fiber case at :confused:

Sheath out did the SS pretty quick. I understand though. Loving mine.

Did you get the one with Alcantara? I think that is the biggest selling factor for that case. That alcantara is so soft and nice to touch. I don't see anyone other case out there with Alcantara. I had the samsung alcantara case and I wanted to keep the phone because of that case alone haha

i've thought about this and considered ordering the Synthesis, but here's what i perceive the differences are:

- backside protection: rather than a ring around the camera, the corners are raised so that the camera side can be placed face down
- grip: different -- the sides will be grippy due to the raised pattern but the material is entirely different
- front: its unclear to me that the front has any more lip protection than the Sheath.

in my brief exchange with the customer service rep i've worked with regarding my Sheath issues, she suggested the Synthesis is much bulkier so i don't think they can really be compared. interestingly, the Synthesis which for prior phones was rated at 3m protection is rated at 2m protection for the XS model.

given this discussion, i'm inclined to go to something different if i want more protection. i believe someone on this thread has used both, but i can't recall the username...

ASIDE:

if feel/texture is what you are after, you could consider the Silk Base/Kung Fu grip. to me, they have similar grip and there is more "air cushioning" in the corners and a deeper front lip. yet the case is not as refined (seams are obvious and the camera cutout is less precise so dust collects in the opening). it probably offers a little more protection but i much prefer the Sheath and am at least currently willing to take my chances when having both available to me.
