I’m using a tempered glass from Caseology (they had a deal in it a while back before the XR came out). The Amazon page lists the glass to be 0.33mm high. The Sheath’s lip barely extends past my Caselogy tempered glass. I do wish the lip if the Sheath to be a bit taller..

That said, I do still really like the Sheath. Many pages back, some have mentioned it’s similar to the Silk Grip case. I had the Silk Wallet version 1 on my iPhone 8, and they’re both a bit similar. But my Silk one felt slightly less textured and felt more flimsy/floppy.. Not sure how my Silk wallet case would protect the phone since the size were kinda loose.

I’m not sure if I believe the drop rating of the Sheath. But it does feel a bit more solid to me. Hopefully it can handle 3-4 ft drops.

FWIW, the Silk cases are currently on sale on Amazon if you want something similar. I keep posting here since there’s more discussion about cases...even though I have the XR! But I’m tempted to pick up a Silk Grip in red to see how it matches my ProductRed XR...

Edit: Forgot to ask. Has anyone used PopSockets with the Caudabe Sheath? I’ve never used PopSockets before. It’s currently on sale at Best Buy and Target so I’m curious to try it. But not sure how it’ll stick to the textured surface of the Sheath.

your experience mirrors mine. i started with Base Grip: liked grip, but not fit and finish and as you suggest, a bit floppy. i like the Sheath a lot more but the lip is slightly shallower so that there is 0.15-0.2mm clearance left with my 0.33 mm protector (something less than 0.25mm since i could compare the lip with my 0.25mm leftover protector.)

i just ended my waffling and ordered the Synthesis for the XS. i'm hoping the "fractions of a mm" the rep told me that its lip is greater is enough to make me feel i have enough clearance relative to the Sheath. (for the record, i had the same clearance concern with the Otterbox Symmetry, but there is more lip with the Silk Base Grip as well as my Speck Presidio Grip). i have the silver/white iPhone, but got Stealth black and i'm hoping that ends up giving me a cool look since it's supposedly a pretty dark tint of gray. [all my other cases cover up the color of my phone which i have been fine with -- first non-black phone since i was worried about the black band getting scuffed and not being able to polish it out)

Is this the one you were speaking of?

Yup! Their whole line of cases is on sale. Aside from the flimsy feel, my Silk Vault V1 (wallet) was pretty useful (but really added to the size of the phone). Nice for times I want to leave the home with one drivers license and one credit card.

I got the caudabe sheath for my XS and also have spigen tempered glas.

Here is pic of the xs causabe sheath:

Here is my iPhone 6s with same case but previous model without that added texture for better grip:

I do like the previous case texture a lot. But with the new one it gives better grip for sure.

Both cases however don’t have much lip left after putting screen protector. I dropped my 6s many times on a truck floor and it survived. Never really dropped on concrete floor.

Here are more pics of the XS with sheath case and spigen tempered glass:

Been sporting my presidio grip today. Even tho I wear relaxed fit jeans, still sticks more than I would like to pockets. It will likely become my heavier duty case when I feel the phone may be in more of harms way.

Still no Mous limitless folks, eh? Or their new clarity case?

The Mous Limitless is my current favorite for the XS. Other cases in rotation are Sheath, Synthesis and Solid Suit.

Sounds like I’m in the minority, but I really like the feel of the Mous in hand. Mine is the leather backed version.

The Sheath is great, but I don’t have AppleCare and don’t have confidence that it will handle a hard drop.

The SS would probably be my #1 if it only had grippier edges.

The Synthesis is OK. I tried to return it but never got a reply from Caudabe’s customer support.

Anyone try these newer Evutech? I kinda want this magnet mount which is super sturdy in landscape mode as well no target around me has the Xr cases tho. All are loaded with XS,X, and XS max.

I like the texture of the leather bottom and fabric up top. Not sure if there is a lip though?

I have it but the Carbon model. It has a front lip and one around the camera. It’s a finger print magnet tho

I can’t speak for the sheath but I rock pop sockets on half my cases and love them! Super handy the wife and I both started adopting them. I’m sure it will work on your case just needs a flat surface to stick

Hmm, if the fabric one has the same lip, I’ll try it out. No fingerprints on that model

Karbon here and like it quite well, too. It’s lip isn’t great on front but not bad. Buttons are pretty good. Not a bad case at all; definitely spent more on worse cases.

How is the magnet? I want a magnet that is strong enough for a Xr tomorrow wobble and go in landscape mode

I’m loving my Evutec. It dethroned the Sheath for me. And I don’t find it to be a fingerprint magnet at all in the carbon version. I really like this case. I got the carbon version since I didn’t think the fabric / leather combo or the wood version would be good enough grip wise.

I like the mount, but I wish it would be more adjustable. My vents in my car kind of angle downward which means adjustable mounts work better. But other than that no complaints at all.

I prefer the minimalist approach. Since the cases are so thin, every couple of months I replace the case with a new one. Since they are only around $8 on Amazon, you can't beat it.

And so the search for the perfect phone case continues!

I might hold out with the Otterbox Statement until Magpul release their rumoured XS case.

This is disappointing to hear as I was looking at this one for sure

It looks half decent on the website, but photos are deceptive. It was always going to be a risk purchasing it, considering there are barely any reviews of it out there. I want to like it, but I just can’t see myself getting used to it’s flaws.

I gave up on tech 21 years ago. When they first used D30 I thought they were on to something. Then, they sold their sole for being in apple stores and getting rid of d30 for more slim cases that looked better. They have consistently had a poor sloppy bottom to their case that sags and doesn’t provide a lot of coverage, IMO

Agreed. The original cases with the clear/frosted back and the orange edges used to be great! Now it’s fashion over functionality. It’s beyond me why the bottom isnt covered more!

How are the buttons on the Nomad Rugged by the way?

I don’t know, the case looks good on the website. I’m reluctant to purchase it though, it’s nearly £40 with shipping from the US to the UK. A big price to pay, only for it arrive and for me to not like it and to then fork out money sending it all the way back.

I'm looking to get a folio type case for my iPhone XS and really torn between the official Leather folio from Apple (with a ludicrous price tag of £99  ) :

I love the Apple case but can I REALLY justify its price tag?!?!?!

I also love the Nomad case but have heard the flap does not close flush with the screen of the phone, even when empty, due to the stiffness of the leather and that would REALLY bug me!!!!

Haha. Find a relative/friend who is in Uni or relative/friend who gets corporate discount.

Students get 10% and Corporate discount is 15% for Apple.

Thats what i do lol :)

For those prices, I would get the Nomad. It also adds a bit more drop protection. The leather probably will become less stiff over time.
