Which case will you be getting for your new XS/XS Max? [MERGED]

Since the my forest green was slippery, I decided to "follow" the steps in the patina thread and patina my forest green. Follow is in quotes because I skipped some steps and, instead of sandpaper, I used the only thing I had available, which was a nail filer! Boy, am I stupid. Needless to say, my forest green is ruined. And even though the Sheath is my daily driver, I'm off to the Apple Store after work to buy a new leather case because I love the color of the forest green (it's honestly the best looking color).

We all do things like this from time to time.. Do you have an apple store that has the forest green in stock? I looked everywhere.. couldn’t find it and I live by three apple stores.
 
I have actually never had apple care since the 3G and have only once cracked my screen on the 4 or 5, which was easily DIY replaced during the time. Used to make a good chunk of cash in high school repairing the screens of all the girls in my class. Haha

I have three Apple stores all within 15 minutes (the closest being 4 minutes from where I live). The one closest to my home showed "in stock" when I left work, but was sold out when I got there. I checked the inventory at the other stores, and all were sold out (I live in a suburb of Chicago). I had to order it. Ordering the case for in-store pick up was Tuesday, Jun 25. Ordering the case for home delivery was Monday, June 24. I just checked the tracking number and the case is scheduled to arrive Saturday, June 22.
(The guy helping me at the store thought that the color might have been discontinued, but changed his mind when he saw it was still available on their site.)

Damn man i wish one of the stores here would dig deeper to try and find one.
 
My forest green leather case arrived today. The letter I in iPhone that’s printed on the inside of the case is crooked. Also, the smell is really odd. It’s definitely not a leather smell, but my other leather cases from Apple didn’t smell like leather either. I can’t tell if the smell is lingering from the package. I took it to the Apple store, and, although they agreed the letter I is crooked, two people assured me that it’s genuine. Am I being paranoid?

I’m sure it’ll be genuine, especially if bought from Apple.

The crooked text is probably just one of those things that’s slipped through quality control.

In regards to the smell, I’ve found that the Apple leather cases don’t really smell of actual leather until a few weeks after use - they must have a protective wax layer on them or something

Can you post a pic of the crooked "i"? I'd be very curious to see it. I have the Forest Green leather for my XS Max and it's by far my favorite case.

I couldn't resist buying just one more case ;). I've read good things about the Pitaka Magcase, beside it being not very protective, and decided with their Fathers day sale to purchase one. I was in communication with customer support over my first order which I had to cancel because I forgot to include something. Long story short, Pitaka tried to entice me to spend more than just the case when customer service emailed me back.

I was intrigued with their offer of an extra case with my order if I spend over $61.70. So I purchased an XS Max case and an additional mount/charger just to reach that amount for, what I though, an additional case for my iPhone.

I feel like I got suckered and wanted to warn others if they were enticed to spend more money with Pitaka.

I didn't know if I should laugh or cry when I opened it. They did send me a random case...really random! The picture has the XSMax case on the left and the "random case" on the right. See if you can identify what iPhone it's for, it took me a little investigation. Hint: think back several generations.

If it turns out to be too expensive to return my order, I'll be happy to send the "random case" to someone, but who would need it?

How is the pitaka? Been eyeing it for a long time given its reputation and that is has a dedicated mag mount.. but it just doesn’t seem like it would do well it the iPhone was dropped. How is the grip?
 
Bought the Power Support Ultrasuede Air Jacket for my iPhone XS the other day and very impressed! Absolutely gorgeous to touch, i don't believe its suede but a suede-like material which is supposed to last longer. Quality is very Apple-esque, which is reflected in the cost $40. Also got hit with another £15 in VAT charges by Royal Mail in UK :(

Can anyone recommend a thin case with GRIP? I want something that has a slight lip over the screen for protection, and a good amount of grip. I cannot find a decent case with these features.. How hard could it be? I currently have the Sheath, but it has gotten rather slippery in two months and has a camera bump.
 
Picked up another case for my iPhone XS Max-the Apple silicone case. But why does it feel so dusty? It collects dust and I can feel it when holding my phone lol. Anyone knows if once you start using it more, it won’t collect as much dust?

Yes, it definitely does. I was skeptical at first, but it will in less than a few days. What color did you get?

I got the really light pink one. I really love how grippy it is. I want to go back for more. I saw on Best Buy they have some for sale as well.
 
Defiantly not upgrading this year and will ride it out another year until the 2020 model. Seeing even this years camera has been changed I’d rather rock by beautiful XS Max case collection and wait for a serious upgrade before abandoning my sexy collection :) How many people are doing the same? #savethecaseCollection #casesmarts
