This! I posted about my experience with the Sheath last year with my X. I dropped it once & my glass screen protector chipped & cracked. So I switched to a different case. A couple months later, I gave the Sheath another shot. It was on my X since, until I upgraded to the XS Max. Dropped it a few more times with no issues. So maybe that first drop was just a freak accident. I like the Sheath so much that I went naked with my XS Max for about a week until my case came in, which is something I never do! The quality, fit, & feel is unmatched when it comes to such a slim case.

It must not be as Grippy as I hoped it would be...Due to how much you drop yers!!!

Does anyone have the Otterbox Statement or Traction series that the Apple store sells? I’m liking the looks and grip of the Traction, but I wanted some reviews. I picked up my phone today (that gold is so much prettier in person)and I’ll be heading back tomorrow to get a case.

I had the Statement on my IP6 for 4 years. Still looks great and protected my phone well the few times I dropped it. The clear back did get few scratches or smudges but they really don’t detract from it’s looks. The nice thing about the clear back is that it doesn’t yellow.

For my Xs, I bought an Apple leather case. Nice looking but somewhat slippery and not nearly as protective as the Statement. So I am returning it and have a new Statement on order. Should be delivered by the end of the week.

It’s not apple silicone level grippy. That level is hard to match by any case really, but that feel is also off putting to me personally.

It’s a textured case with a slight rubbery feel. Not so much so that it feels like a cheap TPU case, but enough to hold on to. It slides perfectly in and out of pockets, and in my experience you have to sacrifice a touch of grip to get that.

Someone else mentioned before that dry hands and low humidity make it feel a little more slick. I agree with that sentiment.

All of the picky grip quipes aside, I’m choosing this case first based on its mimalism. It just so happens to also look incredible, fit perfect, and still add a level of insurance to my otherwise careful handling of the phone.

I do have a 2 and 4 year old, and I will say the younger one won’t be watching YouTube in target with this case. He has a history of spiking phones to the floor in toddler tantrum fashion. But then, less screen time is a good thing right? Just have to put more snacks in the go bag. #keepembusy

Sorry for the rant. If you read all that, just give Caudabe your money like I did.

I have zero (even but-picky) complaints about the Caudabe Sheath. For a minimalist case with decent drop protection, in my opinion, it is the perfect case. When I got my X last year, I initially went with the Caudabe Veil XT (also a good case, with great grip, but only for scratch protection). I then decided to try the Sheath (original version with the weird camera cut-out design, but upgraded to the Classic version when it came out. So the only thing I cannot attest to is longevity. I have continuously used the Classic Sheath since May 25th and can only notice a very slight difference between the grip of it and the brand new Max Sheath, so I would say durability is top notch.

I purchased the Caudabe Sheath based on this recommendation and several others in this thread. Had never heard of the company before. I wish I knew exactly which post(s) sold me on it, but this is the case I went with having read some key terms about quality of protection and slim form factor.

Ordered it Thursday. Got it Saturday. It is already my favorite case I've ever had AND for me, it takes the XS Max from "large but useable" to "enjoyable to hold." Feels great, looks great, minimal branding and minimal bulk. 10/10 for me.

Thanks for sharing. How is it with the swiping gestures? Does that bottom lip get in the way at all? I’m starting to think that I just have giant thumbs or I swipe too recklessly.

Edit: that question goes for any Sheath owners.

No problems whatsoever with swiping gestures from sides or the bottom. If you have trouble swiping with the Sheath, you may just need a case with the bottom exposed.

Just ordered the same one, same color. Thanks for posting the pics! Can’t wait to try it out!!

Was using Ringke Air for the X and I really liked it, so I got the same case for my Max.

This case is slightly thinner than the Spigen Liquid Crystal and Ringke Fusion, but I believe it still provide enough protection. Feels really good in my hands.

Here are some pics of my Max in a Ringke Air case.

The back of the case has dotted pattern to prevent sticking to the back of the phone.

There’s a Ringke logo on the back of the case. I can barely feel it when I run my finger across it, but might still bother some of you.

The hole for the camera aligns perfectly.

The top and bottom of the case have a slightly more raised lips for screen protection. The raised lower lip does not affect my ability to swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

The side of the case is ever so slightly raised above the level of my tempered glass screen protector.

I thought (Obviously Incorrectly!) I read the Apple Silicone Case's were not as Grippy. I don't know why or where I came up with that assumption. I'm gonna order an Apple Case to compare against the Caudabe I ordered & Tech21 EvoCheck I'm currently using.

What I'm looking for:
#1 Grippy-Tacky
#2 Non-Bulky
#3 Quality-Workmanship

Well the Sheath definitely checks all the boxes

Does anyone have any experience with the Caudable lucid clear? I have the Ringke air and I do love it. But I am always looking for a back up clear thin case.

I’ve used one for the X. It’s a hard case and it’s has a thin profile, which I really like, however, I find it too slippery for me. I preferred the Ringke Air, and used that for both the X and the Max.

I usually go caseless. However, that Caudabe Sheath case (in black) reminds me a little of the only time a phone case didn’t annoy me and I used one regularly. It was the Switcheasy Tone grey/black for my iPhone 5S.

Ordered the Caudabe earlier.

Nothing but official apple leather case for me. Anyone know of any online retailer that sells them for less than £55?

I bought one off eBay last year which was cheaper and it was genuine. You could also try CEX.

Caseology Legion and iCarez 2.5D glass screen protector! Feels nice in hand, maybe a little bulky but not to bad overall.

I just got my caseology today as well. For the $3 I paid it’s amazing, for full price it’s still really good. Imo it’s easily as good as a Spigen tough armor for less than 1/2 the price.

I have one on order.

Wonder if anybody here has compared the Grippiness between an Apple Silicone & Caudabe The Sheath?

I went to the Apple Store Saturday & tried out the silicone case on my Max. To me, the Sheath is grippier, but it’s two different feels. The silicone case is smoother/softer, while the Sheath is more textured & rigid. If that makes sense. It was my first time handling the silicone case, which felt surprisingly good & looked good as well

Thanks for the info.

The nearest Apple store is 60 miles from my place. I was going to order the Apple case but since I’ve already ordered the sheath I’ll wait to see how it feels.

The local Best Buy doesn’t have any apple silicone cases.
