Which case will you be getting for your new XS/XS Max? [MERGED]

Yes, they are pretty bad. It's the only case I wind up using on all of my iPhones, and they've all had the problem. I'm very OCD, and I'm constantly washing my hands with soap and water, but (like I've mentioned in a previous reply) the back of the case still looks like I've been eating fried chicken. I've learned to live with it because I love the case so much (the only case I would love more is if they'd release a leather version with the same specs, but until then...). I've seen the fingerprints appear on some of the reviews I've seen on YouTube, but in pictures, I've only seen them on MobileReviews-Ehs' site.

I love reading your reviews / posts. You fall in and out of love with phone case in split second lol. My heart says order it but my brain says dont be an idiot. Ill be cleaning / wiping the case 24/7 instead of enjoying it. I think im going to stick with Solid Suit Classic Black and Leather for now.

Shame Apple changed the design of their leather cases. Product Red Leather Case for iPhone 5s my all time favourite.

yeah, they are in stock for the regular XS. for me, grip on the sides is what is important, so i might want to check the Synthesis out. i don't like the way the gray model looks with the white back, so i'd want to hear from them or someone here about how dark the back is on "stealth gray". i'm assuming it's pretty dark given how it masks the apple on the photo on their website, but i want to be sure.

from what i saw on Facebook, they hit a quality control issue in the XS Max Synthesis production, so that is why there is a delay.

I have the stealth black for XS. The back is not really translucent at all. It’s an opaque, matte black. There may be a hint of the phone’s gold color showing through, but I can’t see the Apple logo at all.

thanks, this is very helpful. it's interesting that the photo they show on the website suggests that for a black iPhone (maybe its actually the silver/white), the Apple shows through. but your info is helpful. i want it to be dark, so this may fit the bill.

may i ask some other questions since Caudabe seems slow in getting back to me?

- how is the fit and finish? if you see above, i'm bothered by apparently a defective Sheath having noticeable seems between the bottom (and a little of the right side) and the back. they claim on the Synthesis description that they made sure the transitions are smooth.

- how loose/tight is the fit around the edge?

- is the case itself (on the back) raised enough to protect the camera lens? (i was surprised on the Sheath that they actually put a "ring" around the camera in order to protect it and thus it keeps the case in the middle, really thin (about 9-9.5mm according to my ruler).

two bigger asks: (i understand that these are time consuming so no worries if not)

- can u measure how thick the Synthesis is (in the middle, not the raise corners)? i'm curious if it's as thick as my Silk Base Grip (11mm vs 9.5 mm for Sheath)

- any chance of posting some pictures of what it looks like? haven't seen any here as far as i can recall or find in my searching...

That’s interesting. Using a totallee thin case now and the profile is amazing but slippery and low protection.

My favorite case would be this and the apple leather cases live child.

Maybe the totallee leather is it.

I'm placing an order now, so I can let you know what I think about it when it arrives. I found a coupon online for 25% off (intheclub), so I figured I might as well try it out.

EDIT: FYI, the coupon code doesn't work with their free shipping offer.

Fingerprints are hit and miss. When I first got it they were no problem. Today I must have eaten a greasy cheeseburger and forgot about it because the fingerprints were really bad. The grip is great but the sides are flat so to me that makes it uncomfortable to hold. Overall I think it’s a great case.
 
as i wait for Caudabe to get back to me about my defective Sheath, i am not wondering more about about the Solid Suit

questions:
- how thick is it compared with Caudabe Sheath and Silk Base Grip?
- how big is the camera opening relative to the camera?

one thing i really like about the Sheath is how the camera cutout is perfect and there is not gap between the case and camera housing. i'm guessing they probably have to leave a larger gap on the SlipperySuit due to the potential to add lenses?

even with the rough bottom edge and loose fit, i do have some hope for the Sheath assuming they send me one without these issues. the grip is excellent, it feel minimalist yet has some fair bit of protection (i'm starting to believe the 6ft rating as i think about an old generic case by Insignia i had for my iPhone 6 that did protect the phone from a 5-6 ft drop).... still considering the synthesis as i noted above though...

I don’t think anyone needs a review of this but I will say compared to the solid suit it feels a lot thinner and has better grip which will improve over time. That of course means less protection but I always forget that I don’t typically drop my phone and I also have AppleCare+. The buttons on the solid suit are better. I miss those already. The volume buttons come close but the power button is stiff. The demos in the store were better so there is probably a break in time. Of course the navigation gestures are amazing since there is no lip down there. That’s all for now. I’m back up to 5 cases right now. 3 are going back.

more mutterings from here...

i heard back from Caudabe: they apparently have ordered a new batch that matches the asymmetric ports on the XS (vs X....she gave me a long history of why they kept things symmetric initially).

i don't think they looked at the picture i sent as a "ps" to my first email because they said that "This is not considered a defect, but nonetheless will also be revised in the new batch mentioned above."

i sent them two more pictures to clarify things, but i think the bottom line is that they will send me a replacement once they come in (i have asked for clarification and an ETA if they have one) hopefully this one will be smoother and tighter fitting.

guess i live with the sharp edged one for now. i am tempted to take some sandpaper or a fine file to the case to smooth off that sharp edge assuming that i don't need to return the old case to them when the new one arrives.

i had an Apple leather case which i got for free (long story) for my iPhone 7 which i liked. but i never used it after hearing from someone having their screen shatter because it landed on that bottom edge (also dinged up bottom) from a 3-4 foot drop.

I ordered one. I tried the 25% off as well and lost free shipping. Ended up with about $5 off. I did get a link that if I refer someone I get $10 store credit and they get $10 off their order.

I purchased a Suteni 'leather' wallet case on Amazon for $17.99. It looks good, fits well and should last for a while. I got my wife an Apple leather wallet case in red. It's expensive but looks great and seems to be excellent quality. We'll see how much more durable it is compared to my cheap case.

Both phones are iPhone Xs Max.

Was fairly quick, one day. I received a shipping notice 2 days later. It was Black.
